The past 2 years have certainly cemented the fact that we are no longer the United States of America. The Republican and Democratic Ideals are now so separate to each other that staying 1 nation does not make sense because we will not be able to go forward and accomplish anything of note for the still American public. As it is now, this will not change. Either one side wins or the other. Winning as a nation for all is not the desired result, it is winning for the party platform.

Caring for others is now called Socialism. Trying to spread the wealth the U.S. as a whole has built is now called Socialism. Wanting to protect the environment and protect the populace from greedy and unscrupulous people is now called Socialism. Wanting Health Care for everyone is now called Socialism.

The Republicans are all about me, me, me, and me. They are all about individuality and not a family. They are all about money and economic stability and not about emotional stability. They are about "the best shall win, no matter how it's done". It is no longer about Justice but about who is the strongest, the biggest bully.

I am sorry, but that is not the America that I was born to. The America I was born to was about equality for all, justice for all, helping others (nations and people) for a better future for all.

All is now Socialist and Me is now the way to go.

There is nothing preventing the implementation of those 'socialist' (bolded above) ideals (massive income redistribution programs?) at the state, county or city government level. Why, exactly, has no 'blue' state, county or city yet shown us the wonders of doing so? Do you suppose that they just might fear the exodus of "the rich" and an (uncontrollable?) inflow of "the poor"?

Your statement may hold credence when you allow the Federal government to address what should be the purview of the State. To mandate theft with no exception the funds to support people selected by a Federal Department across all State boundaries, rather than a more local consideration for the needs of those who reside in the state, then yes, it is Socialism.

This proves Leftists have zero appreciation for freedom and liberty.

Fear kills. If we are to rule through fear, nothing will ever get done. What makes sense and is just, should be the rule. By the way, where would the "rich" go? where do they have a better chance to continue to make money than here?

Economic stability is a legit and rather important goal of government, “emotional stability” isn’t. Besides, I entirely disagree with the premise that more government dependence equals greater emotional stability or happiness. If anything, I think it’s the other way around.

Where've you been buddy? *hugs*

Costa Rica.

Do you mean that caring for others, spreading the wealth, offering emotional stability means we have to give you freedom and liberty?

Please explain what you mean, exactly.

To the extent your remarks allude to politicking -- rather than un-"spun" fact-based and analytically-driven governance, especially with regard to matters for which there exists "tons" of nonpartisan empirical analysis, thus obviating the need to make political such policies -- continuing unabated after elections have been won, I agree with you.

Red:
I abhor the capital-ess moniker, "Socialism." Nobody in the US advocates for that, not even remotely. One need have but the barest recollection of high school history to know that's so. Why people don't rebuke pols who deign to bandy that canard about their countrymen disserve the country and its political processes.

Your Socialist Utopia does not exist.
The Dems have this misguided and inaccurate notion that the government is meant to take care of people. That takes away will and determination.
America was built on determination and we do not need MORE socialist programs. We have enough.
Socialism destroys capitalism.

Hello Venezuela.

Could you be a little more dramatic?

Costa Rica.

If Costa Rica is your economic heaven, then please go there. By the way, Costa Rica is Latin, did you know that? In addition, you would not be a citizen of Costa Rica but a resident. In addition, the income tax for the rich is approximately 25% there, so your economic benefits are not all that much.

A different take, I was looking at the senate map with the winners and projected winners. Democratic/liberal/socialist states are the Northeast from Maine down to Virgina, then the west coast states which might include Nevada or not. But Nevada is turning blue, slowly. Then the upper tier of the Great Lake States. Flyover country, the rest, middle America is republican/conservative/me, me, me states.

One could further divide the country into urban, big city vs. rural, small town even in the most Democratic and or republican states. It is like we are two different countries with two different values, different politics, ideologies, philosophies, even different morals along with religion or no religion. Northeast, west coast, upper tier great lakes vs. middle America.

Sure we have some states that go back and forth, Ohio, Florida for example, but the rest are pretty much set. Divided we are.

To a less 'socialist' state, county or city, of course. I see that you have no way to explain why state, county or city governments won't enact your wonderful (on paper) 'socialist' programs except for their well founded fear that "the rich" would flee and the "the poor" would flock in for the promised "free" goods/services.

Hello Venezuela.

Acadia, does your post suggest you want this split to continue in the previously United States? That is your answer?

The rich would flee, is your answer right? Just like the rich fled in the 80's and 90's when things were better for all, right?

Please support your post with facts, suggesting the rich would "flee" and where they would flee to? Russia perhaps?

This proves Leftists have zero appreciation for freedom and liberty.

Says the party behind the drug war who reserves the right to tell folks who they can marry.

**** Conservative "liberty", which is merely being free to do as you're told.

I'm not rich. I wouldn't leave if I was. I'm going to stay here and fight against communism.

Hi Gov. Just had to duck out a bit for my own emotional stability, but it’s all good now (as good as it gets for OCD me, anyway). Although I know the conversation about the mid terms is far from over, I am glad the elections themselves are done and I’m pretty optimistic about the results. Both sides have things to happy and not so happy about, though I totally do think it was a more favorable night for Democrats, so sincere congrats to them.

Anyway, thank you for asking, my friend. :) Glad to see all the insanity didn’t drive you away.

as france proved they will go anywhere that is cheaper for them.
the reason that no liberal state has implemented your so called ideals is that they can't afford it.

yes freedom and liberty is about the person if you have read anything about the founding fathers and what they
wrote it was all about individual freedoms not this collectivist nonsense.
