[W:92] Federal legislation is needed to stop gun violence

Banning certain weapons is not a form of gun control?
Which gun control measures, then, are you claiming can prevent mass shootings?

Oh lots of things like registration, universal background checks, waiting periods. I am not saying they can prevent mass shootings.....I am saying they have and will continue to

I know you dont care about suicides. In the US gun control reduces suicides.

And you dont care

No..in the US gun control does not reduce suicides... Nor does it reduce suicides in other country.

GETTING PEOPLE THE HELP THEY NEED.. reduces suicides.

Its amazing just how callous you anti gunners are. "well.. this person is hurting so much.. they want to kill themselves"...and your answer is not "lets get them help"..

Its "well.. just take their guns and call it good".

In fact.. your solution makes things worth.. because you have increased the stigma on people with mental health issues and this prevents them from seeking help.

You and your ilk should be ashamed of yourselves.

Yes gun control prevents suicides. And let's be clear.....the largest expansion of mental health benefits this country has ever seen is the ACA.

And guess who wants to crush that.

The gop supports suicide

Ok, so we’re agreed no further gun control measures are necessary. Excellent.

The problem is that you have no way of showing which, if any, current measures have prevented mass shootings. You can only claim they have but there’s no evidence.

I'm glad you agree more gun control is needed.

Its very refreshing

Can you show any current measures / laws that have stopped robberies, murders, rape, etc? People still commit robberies, murders, rape, etc. Would more laws stop those type of crimes from happening.

So ban the AK-47. Does that mean no AK-47's would ever be used in a crime in the US ever again?

We should ban heroine, cocaine and meth. Maybe that will prevent their use.

Ahhhh, so you think I am trying to twist your position so you thought you’d be clever and do the same to me.
Except...I went solely off what you wrote.
You stated that current gun control measures successfully prevent mass shootings.
You have offered no changes or different measures.
Therefore the only conclusion is that you do not believe more measures are necessary.
If I am mistaken, what new measures do you propose?

/sarcasm on
Well they are illegal drugs. We all know that once made illegal the drugs won't come into the US, be sold or used in the US. Passing a law would fix it., right.
/sarcasm off

I am not going to say we can't improve our gun laws. It is foolish for someone to think that by banning something that it would never by used in the US.

But I’m not claiming laws prevent crime as such. Laws are meant to keep honest people honest, and regulate the dishonest.

Well then using my example how well has the laws done to "regulate the dishonest"?

imo, not much.

The people in prison are not on the street committing crimes. Surely you’re not suggesting we have no laws at all?

Uh I just did offer several. Read again

It's amazing how your arguments are so easy to pick apart. Last I saw, more than 15 states have Red Flag laws.

Vermont prosecutors put new 'red flag' law to the test

The Vermont Department of State's Attorneys and Sheriffs says the new law has been sought 18 times so far and approved for most of them.

How's that even a response? The fact that the law exists doesn't mean it was used in the case you cited.

The question answers itself. Try to think.

Do you know exactly how many lives were saved with a MMR vaccine last year?

Exactly how many were saved by seatbelts?

Now....think about those questions.

Do you think the number was zero?

Why is it so hard for you to answer a simple question?

It's not hard at all. But you should understand the question you are asking

I understand it just fine, and so do you. You're just afraid to answer it.

That's exactly what a person who's afraid to answer the question would say.

Gun control prevents gun deaths just like vaccines prevent deaths

Gun control prevents gun deaths just like vaccines prevent deaths

Yes, we know that's what you think, and you're still dodging my question. I'll tell you what, I'll respond to you as soon as you stop trolling me and dodging the question.

I've answered it. Gun control prevents gun deaths. That's a fact

Gun control prevents gun deaths just like vaccines prevent deaths

Yep, because if a criminal does not obey gun control laws then you are still protected from being shot by them because you obeyed the gun control laws. ;)

Well you would only not have a gun if you are a prohibited person.

You sound worried
