[W:90]Whistleblower filed a complaint to the intelligence IG.Why is it being withheld from Congress?

Re: A whistleblower filed a complaint to the intelligence IG. Why is it being withheld from Congress

Are there any Trump supporters that are too stupid to know that Trump would govern this way. He's been hiding stuff in his professional and personal life his entire career. He's always been a crook. He's always been a cheat. None of this stuff should surprise any Trump supporter.

If it does then they're not very smart.

Sorry.
I just pictured a statue of Thomas Jefferson talking about adding passages to the Constitution covering the Intelligence Community Whistleblowers’ Protection Act (ICWPA) and the relationship of the DNI to Congress.

They are not smart, they are not patriots and they are not law abiding. On the other side of the coin though, they are all critics but without education or knowledge of what they criticize.

Re: A whistleblower filed a complaint to the intelligence IG. Why is it being withheld from Congress

Still no circumspection on your part I see.
I told you many posts ago that if circumstances are as you keep insisting then, yes, the DNI was wrong.
That's why it was important to find the position of the DNI so I did and quoted it.
You haven't addressed it. And from what I saw in one of your Lawfare links they haven't either.

You: SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!!

Me: No, the conflict is actually between the DNI and Trump's IC IG. It's the Trump IC IG who determined the complaint was urgent and credible, not Schiff, and that the law I cited controlled the DNI's response. It's the Trump IC IG who alerted Schiff and Nunes. Schiff is reacting to the determination of the Trump IC IG.

You: SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!! SCHIFF!!

Re: A whistleblower filed a complaint to the intelligence IG. Why is it being withheld from Congress

Trump’s communications with foreign leader are part of whistleblower complaint that spurred standoff between spy chief and Congress, former officials say

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...691f26-d893-11e9-bfb1-849887369476_story.html

"On Friday, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence sent a letter to Schiff asserting that, because the complaint involves “confidential” and “potentially privileged communications” by one or more people outside the intelligence community, the director lacks authority to send the complaint to the intelligence committees, a committee aide said. That prompted the subpoena."

As I've said many times, the conflict is not between Schiff and the DNI but between the determination of Trump's own IC IG and what we must assume is Trump or one of his minions, and the DNI is caught in the middle. Schiff is doing his job, his duty.

The good news for the country is apparently journalists know the whistleblower's lawyer, which means they know who filed the complaint, and it's going to come out one way or another unless the DNI/Trump work with Congress and do this the right way. That's the problem with burying whistleblower complaints filed through legitimate, authorized, formal channels that are then crapped on and buried by the WH - whoever has the problem will find a way to get the word out. There was IMO no chance of "Oh well, the DNI determined this urgent matter didn't meet the statutory requirement and will bury it. I guess I'll just go back to work and forget all about it" option once they start down that road. By coming forward they already decided their career is over and anything worth that won't be buried.

Right. It's "going to come out one way or another".
We don't know the who, the what, or the why or why not.
That's what I've been trying to tell you.
So far we have a ****load of media speculation about criminal behavior and a statement by the DNI that it involves “confidential” and “potentially privileged communications” and the director lacks authority to send the complaint to the intelligence committees.
Considering all the media bombshells that have fizzled I would think you'd be wary of staking so much on a new one.
Be patient.

I don't know why the DNI was directed to bury the whistleblower complaint. We can assume it's not a trivial matter based on what Trump's IC IG concluded, and then when the DNI didn't do as the statute required, the IC IG went over his head and alerted Congress. Those are pretty extraordinary steps unless the subject matter was very serious.

So thankfully there are still people in government with integrity, starting with the whistleblower, and the IC IG, and then Schiff who did his job here, which was blow the trumpet on Trump's attempt to just sit on this complaint. Once that happened, IMO the opportunity to bury this was gone.

Re: A whistleblower filed a complaint to the intelligence IG. Why is it being withheld from Congress

Hardly, this is equivalent to a racist who hires a couple of blacks in his white dominant employ and then says any accusation of his being a racist is "debunked".

Total delusion. The only thing historical are debt and deficits and the ever widening gap between the rich and the poor.
This president is destroying America and your argument in his favor are extremely weak, and do not match the gravity of the crimes and destructiveness that surrounds him for which he is responsible for.

Complete and total delusion.

Nothing about Trump is historical that his actions can claim credit for. My comment stands. There were no Mueller dreams. There were facts, and those facts are being acted on. Trump obstructing the wheels of justice that are moving against him, he's got a lot of power, but it won't last.

the only thing fake is the president. Trump is a criminal and the worst president in history. Only fools believe otherwise as they are blind to reality and are utterly deceived

You are doing exactly what you need to be doing. We appreciate it.

Re: A whistleblower filed a complaint to the intelligence IG. Why is it being withheld from Congress

Bad advise Mr Barr. Bad recommendation as well. This is either going to get out by virtue of frustrated Whistleblower or worse frustrated contact of Whistleblower through the media. You and your unscrupulous, corrupt and criminal boss would have been much better off simply allowing the acting DNI to give House Intel the information in closed session. Now, you are just digging in the same hole DonDon has been digging himself (ie A GRAVE).

Allowing the DNI to testify honestly would have taken most if not all of the pressure out of the pressure cooker. Now eventually pressure will just blow the pressure cooker apart.

The issue/rumor is that trump made an to a foreign power that was disturbing enough to this whistleblower to report it. If I had to guess, it has something to do with trump using his presidency in order to continue to line his pockets at our nation's expense.

I find it interesting that yesterday when Trump was in CA he started to talk about the intelligence surveillance concerning the wall and was politely told not to speak about it. Trump cannot be trusted to keep secrets he does not think before he opens his mouth.

Once again ... if "it involves “confidential” and “potentially privileged communications” and the director lacks authority to send the complaint to the intelligence committees."
That would explain it.
Then it would very likely not be subject to the whistleblower law any more than any discussion between a U.S. President and a foreign head-of-state overheard by an Intel member or anyone else who didn't like what he/she heard.

Why do you want to keep talking about Schiff?

I noticed that too.
He started talking about tech security aspects of the wall and he was told they'd rather not make that known.
Should have been obvious.

excellent point
who cares whether this is an urgent national security matter
that pales i comparison to the prospect of tRump being embarrassed by it
it's not like your nation's security should come first

Whaddaya wanna bet Trump is behind this, that the whistleblower's whistleblowing implicates the White House?

Yet, every accusation of "Trump is a tyrant" falls on deaf ears by the right.

What law do you think Trump violated?

Actually if you want to go that route, it would be some things presented to the IG that were made to sound significant by 1 person who either heard them or was told to him/her by someone who heard them.

I noticed that some in the media have begun walking it back a bit already.
This is already becoming just as I predicted days ago on one of the other threads that was desperately hoping for traction but naively trusting in Adam Schiff.

We know the subject is VERY significant, hence the extraordinary efforts by Trump and his bootlickers to bury the report and withhold it from Congress.

And, again, the person we're trusting isn't Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!! Schiff!!

It's the IC IG whom we trust. HE determined the complaint was both urgent and credible. HE determined it was serious enough to go over the DNIs head and report the existence of this complaint to Congress. HE's the one who wrote a letter concluding the lawbreaking and obstruction by the DNI are themselves serious issues. THAT guy was nominated by TRUMP, and confirmed by McConnell's GOP Senate. He also has a long record of prosecuting public corruption. So he's no left wing partisan and he knows what corruption looks like.

The IG would not accept a claim made by a whistleblower that was third party, much less describe it as serious and "urgent". That phrasing by the IG is significant as it is a defined term that trips particular actions by the IG and the DNI which have so far been blocked based on the absurd DOJ argument.

I have not noticed any walking back. All I have noticed is reporting regarding the premise that the whistleblower claim is third party...absurd on its face but reportable by the press.
