Trump...wants to keep...cruise passengers on the ship so... virus #s dont go up

Really? Well, regardless I think he's a great analyst with a great delivery. When I do finance, I'm 110% non-political. The market is a cruel mistress, and will hurt you if you have any bias or preconceptions.

He's very political, and that's my problem with him.
He's bat**** crazy.

Rick Santelli is my guy! Taylor Street kid, done good! I love his analysis & his style.

And as to politics? Well, he is credited with starting the Tea-Party movement. So I wouldn't exactly call him a Dem sympathizer!

He grew up in lilac town, Lombard, in the western burbs from age six.
I don't know much about him or his politics. His name rings no bells but probably because I don't pay much attention to CNBC.

Taylor St kid who grew up in Lombard?

That’s a disqualifier.

I’d give him the benefit if he went to, say, Elmwood Park, or maybe Cicero. Or even River Forest.

But Lombard? Nah

Or Melrose Park?
He graduated HS from Villa Park. Getting closer?

Btw, I moved from Chicagoland in my thirties to San Diego.
Three things I miss still. The people, the food and the Bears.

Melrose, obviously.

Villa Park? God knows.

I miss the Bears too. Not sure who those idiots are who are playing in SF are anymore.

I get my fill of both the people and food, though. And I’m overdue for a Johnnies lunch in Elmwood Park.

Now you got me.. Johnnies lunch?

The only two restaurants I went to while in Villa Park were Portillos and Aurelio's Pizza.
I grew up on the southside of Chicago, and lived predominately in the western burbs after going out on my own and marrying.

but the increased numbers of afflicted will look bad for HIM!
where the hell are your priorities; the health of those diseased passengers or the poll numbers of the president?*

*only one guess per family

So you also think we should have higher infection rates. Got it.

So you're saying we should have coronavirus numbers go up?

So you also think we should have higher infection rates. Got it.

We're saying people on a cruise ship, some sick and perhaps dying, should have access to real medical facilities for testing, quarantine and treatment. We're saying no Death Boat.

Ah, interesting. He was occasionally on the local financial cable channel when he was a trader, and he talked back then of the Taylor Street neighborhood.

Just more examples of the continuous catch 22 that the dellusional left places on the president.

"OMG!! Trump shut down flights from China!"

"OMG!! Trump allowed flight from Japan!!"

"OMG!! Trump won't break cruise ship quarantine!!"

Soon:

"OMG!! I can't believe Trump let those people off the cruise ship!!"

Bet it was all about Mario’s lemonade and Ferrara cookies and Scafuri cannolis.

Yanno.. what a five year old remembers.

Apparently if the help is to be believed, Mario no longer owns the ice stand anymore, which unless he passed - is pretty hard to believe.

I wonder if this has something to do with it:

LITTLE ITALY — The 22-year-old son of the owner of the famed Mario's Italian Lemonade stand in Little Italy hopes to post bond this week after being charged with firing gunshots at police officers — an incident that greatly "concerned" the local alderman.

Marco DiPaolo was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possessing a gun without a valid firearm owner's identification card Friday after he fired shots at police officers early Thursday morning, prosecutors said.

The outraged, spinning hyperbole from you and the rest of the Trump haters is so over-the-top, it can only be fake. Seriously...try being genuine once in a while. Heck, try using some reason once in a while.

For example, has it occurred to you that letting that many people make landfall will only increase the chances that the virus will move to people on land? Yeah...that could double the numbers.

I agree with Trump. Keep the numbers where they are...as low as possible. And keep those people on the ship where they are.

If you haven't checked the map lately we have cases spread all over the country now.

And that is with limited testing.

Its over 500 now. If they bring them to quarantine on land overnight nobody will notice a couple dozen more.

Funny how you guys say you want to release all of these passengers out in the public to spread the virus everywhere and then you make other posts about how bad Trump is doing in containing the virus.

Only nobody said any such thing.

So you just made it up.

There are procedures for situations like this that don't include leaving people on a boat until everything just runs it's course.

So you're saying we should have coronavirus numbers go up?

That's taking care of itself.

Over 500 now. All over the country.

Probably be over 600 by morning.

The missus is scheduled to travel at the end of this month. The trip was planned last year. It’s a river cruise in Europe with her Canadian friend. I’m thinking it’s not looking good.

She can go and take her chances or cancel. At least she has a choice. I feel bad for all those people that were on cruises and learned after the fact about the virus and had to be quarantined. What an absolute nightmare for those who had an interior cabin, the cheap seats, with no access to windows or balconies during the whole time. What a nightmare.

We were thinking about a cruise to Alaska between August and September or a Western Mediterranean Cruise in October/November through Royal Caribbean. We have always had a wonderful experience with Royal Caribbean. We always get a room with a balcony because it is a wonderful place to start the day and end it. Because we are previous customers we get things like priority check-in, special onboard discount and bonus cruise points for booking the best rooms. They just sent me a fabulous offer and it is good for a few months. If this stuff is under control in 4 months, we are booking one or the other. If it isn't, we will be spending our money right here in the U.S.. I have not seen Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone park or the Grand Canyon. It's all good.

That's moronic. No one is suggesting the people be released without testing into the populace. We're suggesting that we do not do the Death Boat and, instead, allow those people access to real medical facilities for testing, quarantine and treatment.

We're not suggesting they go to Disney Land. We're suggesting they go to an actual hospital, so they don't die.

Really?

I strongly suggest you go. Granted once you've done them, that's probably enough. And they are long drives for most of us. But they are pretty important to do once in one's lifetime, in my opinion.

(I was super lucky I had a father that lived by taking driving vacations!)

Apparently only 45 were tested on the Princess, because there were no test kits available. This explains the administration's actions.

I didn't start with intentions on beating-up on Trump for the outbreak. **** happens. But when I see what he said about the Washington Governor, what he did to this ship here, along with his cutting our health infrastructure budgets & personnel the last 2 years, to say nothing of his direct lie about the vaccination development period and the availability of test kits, well you can now count me in with those beating on him.

My favorite part was "I have assembled the greatest collection of masks that the world has ever seen! More masks than can be imagined. So many masks. Masky masks." Followed by Pence taking the podium and immediately saying "Ignore what the President said about masks. You don't need masks. There's nothing to worry about."

BTW - The Trump/Pence CDC numbers are thought to be substantially low. Sad to say we need to go elsewhere for our U.S. data. The Brit's NIH is where a lot of American healthcare workers (& journalists) are now going for U.S. data, as it's thought to be pretty good. Otherwise for non-government sources, I've been told Johns-Hopkins is thought to be pretty accurate. Both are showing substantially higher numbers than our CDC. I was told about the CDC stats discrepancy by healthcare workers in my family.

Here's a link to Johns-Hopkins:

All 3500 of them put into hospital quarantine? Or just the Americans? Or just the very few that have been tested? Or just the few that have tested positive? Should non-americans be repatriated for treatment, or left on the ship once the infected have been removed?

What do you do with the rest? I mean, this isn't 25 people we need to find beds for; shouldn't everyone be quarantined until tested and found to be negative? Where are we going to quarantine 3500 people, who is going to test them all, how long will that take, what do we feed them while we wait for results, what happens after they test positive? that takes time to set up, and shouldn't be taken lightly, in my opinion.
