Trump Threatens ‘SNL’ With Federal Investigation Because They Mock Him

What makes you think he's "contemplating such an act"? He simply asked a question.

Obama: "Maybe Fox News should be investigated for crimes against the people of America"
Conservatives: "Yeah man just asking a question no worries here."

What makes you think he's "contemplating such an act"? He simply asked a question.

He tweeted a question publicly, which indicates that he is contemplating it.

Funny how a Democrat politician could say "maybe we should have healthcare for everyone" and that is jumped on as "see socialist" but then the President says that maybe the FCC or some other government agency (which he has some power over) should investigate a late night talk show or those involved with it because they dared to make fun of him (like they do every other politician in this country that is known by name), and that is "who says he wants to do that".

He tweeted the suggestion. That is contemplating such a thing, even if he dismisses it as something that he would not be able to legally do without some major backlash.

If he wasn't contemplating it, he wouldn't have asked it. Or, you think the President of the United States just asks questions on a public stage without thinking about them?

Perhaps he wants YOU to think about the question.

The cold open they did a couple of weeks ago on the Michael Cohen appearance before the House Committee was excellent. Perhaps it worked so well was the noted absence of Alec Baldwin. I imagine its difficult to do a caricature of someone who is a walking, talking joke as a person.
It works so well because, besides from him having great power, Trump is merely a cartoon character.

He's too much of a triggered manbaby to ignore SNL. "Waaaah! People make fun of me! Waaaah!"

He's got really thin skin. The one with the 'child attitude' is the one who threatens a federal investigation over jokes.
Meh, maybe...but are libs really much better with their non stop rants, spittle drooling hate, and incessant taunting? I don't think so...When supervising a playground of kids, and a group of them starts taunting, and making fun of one child, would you stand by and blame the child being taunted? Or, would you be the responsible adult and step in?

So you’re saying Trump is a child?

He tweeted a question publicly, which indicates that he is contemplating it.

Perhaps you should look up the definition of "contemplating".

Show me the politician who said "maybe we should". Trump didn't say "maybe we should".

He didn't tweet a suggestion. He tweeted a question.

Sigh...

The only way you can turn this against Trump is by twisting words into meanings they don't have.

Moving on...

So their making fun of him is childish, but his reaction is ... what exactly? Because basically what is being said is that his reaction to this is far more childish, especially given his position, than their making fun of him. Particularly since that is their job and they do it to far more people than just him.
That makes him thin skinned, and childish as well....

But, you seem to be saying that because you like it, and it gets a rise from him that you can then use in here to rant about your hatred of him with, then it's ok...Nope, sorry...that just makes you a common bully...

Depends on the situation. These are not children in the same classroom, at the same level. The President of the US holds a lot of power in the US. But the Constitution allows for people, including those on TV, to make fun of people without retaliation. When the President even casually "suggests" potential retaliation for someone making fun of him publicly, then that is a big problem because it puts our freedom in potential jeopardy, even if he is "just joking".

Yeah he’s “just sayin”, right? The President of the United States is “just sayin” that maybe SNL should be looked into. It doesn’t take a stable genius to read between those lines.

Go stick your head back in the sand.

This is not Trump's first tweet where he is all upset with SNL, nor is it the first time he has hinted at some sort of government response.

Trump's normal use of Twitter and blustering aside for just a moment, there is a concern about weaponizing government going against opposition and SNL has been mocking Presidents (and government leaders in general, domestic and foreign) for decades now. If SNL has kicked it up a notch simply because Trump is such an easy target then so be it.

Our issue is those that support going after SNL because of support for any one politician they happen to go after.

Not to mention the skit that got him all worked up was a rerun, and he had the same meltdown the first time he saw it.

The man is an international embarrassment.

I hope SNL continues to mock him. Unlike the previous good sports, especially Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, Trump plays right into their hands.

Yeah you sure are twisting as usual. It’s like a fifties sock hop in here.

What are you talking about?

He is doing something that I would not accept as okay from any politician, threatening potential legal action (an investigation by a federal agency) against a group that made fun of him. They have a right to make fun of him and every other politician on this planet, a right that is provided by our Constitution. Pointing out that he should not be saying such things, making such threats (regardless of how serious they may or may not be) does not make anyone "a common bully".

 oh brother!....Get back to us when he actually orders action be taken....Mountains out of molehills rogue...

There's nothing he can do, SNL is a comedy/satire show so it doesn't fall under these same sorts of rules. Trump's just upset because he's a thin-skinned baby and cries every time someone makes fun of him.

Any orders to the FCC to take action? Humm? No? Mmmmmk then...

Perhaps you should learn to read between the lines. “Just asking” and “just sayin” are weak excuses. The potus just “questioned” (and this was not the first time) about SNL being investigated for making fun of him. Your argument is as thin as Donald’s skin.

You defence of him is really pathetic and total victim complex, the right wing media has trained you well.
Maybe you should "peach" him for this....lol

And if he did order such an investigation, would those currently defending him support him still? Would you defend him?

Like you would care if he did give orders. Apparently a sitting president vaguely threatening a private company isn’t enough for you to take notice.
