That's it. That's the whole article. Well, I guess you can't accuse the Associated Press of being too verbose.

You have Trump screaming about fire and fury, Rex Tillerson saying that we can all sleep at night because we're using diplomacy, Seb Gorka* is saying “the idea that Secretary Tillerson is going to discuss military matters is simply nonsensical,” and Mattis is warning North Korea not to "invite destruction onto its people."

It's really great to see cooler heads prevailing in the White House and that they're all on the same page.

*Seriously, who the hell is Seb Gorka?

You have Trump screaming about fire and fury, Rex Tillerson saying that we can all sleep at night because we're going the diplomatic route, Seb Gorka* is saying “the idea that Secretary Tillerson is going to discuss military matters is simply nonsensical,” and Mattis is warning North Korea not to "invite destruction onto its people."

What is his role, exactly?

Part of the Strategic Initiatives Group, and a certified nutjob.

Edit:

What is his role, exactly?

There have been a number of questions on that. Mostly I think he gives the "alt-right" viewpoint to Trump.

A Henry Kissinger/Brezinski wannabe!

Trump does better when there's some one to sue.

After watching Trump addressing the press just moments ago, he very much sounds like a man that wants to go to war.

National security advisor.

Oh, he and McMasters must get along fabulously.

Re: Trump on 'fire and fury' warning to North Korea: Maybe statement wasn't tough eno

What is with the ambiguous threats? "In trouble like the world has not seen?" What happened to "bomb the **** outta them?"

Oh, and now a NK spokesman has called DJT a senile old man. Link when I find it!

Japan says it could shoot down North Korean missile, NK calls Trump 'senile' | | wdel.com
Hah!

It looks like Trump now has his Russia/Healthcare distraction, and KJU has his "everything" distraction!

The two are mutually politically beneficial to each other!

More breaking news: "BREAKING: Trump tells North Korea to 'get their act together' or it will be in trouble 'like few nations have ever been'"

-Trump, impersonating every school bus driver we have ever had.

Seb seems to have utilized a "Fake it till you Make it" strategy, thus fits right in with Team Trump.

From Wikipedia-
Due to Gorka's lack of genuine qualifications or experience in any aspect of security or international affairs, various national security scholars in academic and policymaking circles have characterized Gorka as fringe. Some critics have challenged his academic credentials, his views on Islam and radicalization—as well as his motives for identifying with the Order of Vitéz or supporting the EU-banned anti-semitic Hungarian Guard.

So you're complaining about too harsh of rhetoric on a country that on the verge of being able to develop ICBMs with nuclear capabilities and threaten to use them on us but say he's too soft on Russia for doing nothing even close to this?

Hmmm....it's almost as if it doesn't matter what Trump does.

Yes, because those two things are exactly the same as each other.

Re: Trump on 'fire and fury' warning to North Korea: Maybe statement wasn't tough eno

North Korea has threatened to nuke USA territory. Why shouldn't an American president be a little agitated about this? Why shouldn't we all?

It's not the stance. It's the presumed and denied chaos. Gorka says one thing, Tillerson another, Mattis kinda on the same page. And the choice of words. Hyperbole is not going to help matters. Trumps chest thumping rings hollow. Along with his Tweet that the nuclear arsenal has been upgraded on his watch. The NKs are reading DJT correctly. They have threatened and insulted him personally. There is a way to be strong and not act like your hair is fire!

Re: Trump on 'fire and fury' warning to North Korea: Maybe statement wasn't tough eno

Well I for one think it's awesome that two completely unstable heads of state are screaming threats of nuclear annihilation at each other.

Re: Trump on 'fire and fury' warning to North Korea: Maybe statement wasn't tough eno

Yes, because those two things are exactly the same as each other.

Not really. The North Korea thing is worse but you wring your hands over strong rhetoric there but also complain about weak rhetoric against Russia for way less.

What did the reporters have to do to be sent to Guam for armageddon updates?

I'm going to ignore the Russia comment because it's ridiculous on every conceivable level. As for the topic of the thread (Trump's behavior toward North Korea), what do you think he's accomplishing?

Re: Trump on 'fire and fury' warning to North Korea: Maybe statement wasn't tough eno

I believe the response by the president of "if you threaten us again we'll nuke you" is the problem. Within hours KJU threatened us again. So Trump created a nuclear red line, it was crossed, and now he's threatening more. How does this move the situation forward in a positive direction?

If Trump starts a process that ends in the deaths of millions of people, in strictly utilitarian terms, where would that leave the U.S.? We would be universally hated for leading the world into a regional apocalypse. This would be a great way for the world to unite against us ever being the leader of the world again.

I don't like it, either but people would be cheering if he did the same with Russia. There's no consistency in the criticism

IMO, probably nothing good. I'm pretty non-interventionist. This NK seems to have the potential to spiral out of control and start a WW3 scenario, depending on what China does.
