I find it hard to believe that his handlers weren't aware of this reference in this specific area of the country—especially in regards to the topic at hand.

The question is, what level of racial rhetoric does Trump have to use before his supporters find it abhorrent enough to call him out on it? My guess is there is no bottom, no mark to hit on that.

That slogan was neither coined by white nationalists nor made popular by them. "America, love it or leave it" has been used by many groups in many contexts and became popular in the 1960's and 70's re Vietnam War protesters who were burning the American flag and denouncing their country.

Seems that leftists these days will twist history in indefensible ways and use any tactic no matter how dishonest or sketchy to trash our President.

Then, the election was over and he didn't stop the rhetoric.

Hate crimes increased, websites started being brigaded by white nationalist accounts, and racial division worsened.

And now we're here, with nothing improving on those fronts.

The state of the economy might get him reelected but it won't improve those fronts. If things regress and return to 1960s tension, the economy won't make a difference at that point.
