Trump displays altered weather map showing Dorian could have hit Alabama

Nope. :) Your president escalated what should have been a minor gaffe into the latest example of his extremely fragile ego that causes him to never, ever, ever apologize for anything he does wrong.

.........and he’s going to get another shot!

And yet, it's the loony left that has dragged this one for almost two weeks, not Trump.

That’s crapola and you know it! You even began a thread on the topic and partway through threw up your hands, (metaphorically,)
decrying how long this incident had dragged on........Trump and you have given this a life of it’s own!

You can say that. You can even believe that. None of which makes it true.

He publicly denied doing that and so far, that has not been effectively disputed.

I have a feeling a random tech guy is being protected.

It may come out someday. Should he be publicly hung for your amusement?

LOL...

First of all, it's Trump who held up that Sharpie map. Why doesn't the buck stop with him? Can we not hold him accountable for the information he presents to the rest of us, versus some aide who might have done what Trump ordered? Is nothing Trump's fault? But he gets all the credit?

Here, why would POTUS need a 3 day old map altered with a Sharpie at all, given in no case would it back up his Sunday claim? If he thought that's what he needed, a map from Thursday and so out of date and worthless even without the Sharpie edits, to back up a claim made on Sunday about states THEN at risk of the hurricane, then his advisors are truly stupid and worthless, including anyone advising him on the hurricane that day, which also reflects on the boss, Trump, and in a very bad way.

Not sure whether this qualifies as irony or hypocrisy; maybe it's both. Just out of curiosity: what was the topic of that thread I started?

Credit for warning people a week early a hurricane is headed their way?

Perhaps there was no hurricane at all and this is all fake news.

"Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming!"

I actually prefer the fake news is distracted by a psuedo non event. It prevents them from actually hurting us.

And during this nonsense distraction.....

"Candidates made comments that had dubious standing in the facts. These claims included comments about the economy, healthcare and other topics that are likely to become major issues during the 2020 election."-Time

You dispute my statement?

“The Chosen One” is on the case......:lamo

I don't have a clue what you're talking about. On that Sunday when he said Alabama was at risk of getting hit much harder than expected by the hurricane, all the maps showed AL had a ZERO PERCENT (0%) risk of hurricane force winds. The hurricane had turned NE and no longer threatened AL, which is why the AL NWS corrected Trump immediately, because he was wrong.

BTW, you ignored my post and dishonestly snipped that part from it. Just thought I'd note that. Typical for the Trump defenders on this thread actually.

Wrong is fine. We trust your expertise on the subject. So what?

Sure, wrong is fine, we all make mistakes. What's not is lying for the entire next week and Sec. Ross threatening to fire underlings unless they backed up Trump and his wrongness, showed Trump was right all along. That altered Sharpie map was part of that dishonest effort. Not Trump's fault because the buck doesn't stop with him, he's just the boss! etc. But you know that - you've been on the thread. Whatever it takes to defend Dear Leader...

As long as you can defend your accusation, call in a special counsel. Do you have a hanging tree picked out?

Lets get to the bottom of this epically tragic sharpie business.

40 million in taxpayer resources enough to get started?

Nah, we're just enjoying watching all you guys pull random nonsense from various places instead of admitting Dear Leader can be wrong. It's entertainment at this point. We all know Trump is a serial liar, and a narcissist, and none of his supporters care so long as he owns the libs. This is just the latest kind of hilarious example.

You're defending this kind of thing as legitimate. He could today send out a Tweet warning Alabama about the coming hurricane, use this map, and the defenders say - what's wrong with that? :lamo

Again Trump supporters want to frame it as a big deal over a little sharpie, but it's not just this incident: it's all of them. It's a dishonest and deeply corrupt presidency that has made lies and 'alternative' facts the cornerstone of its day-to-day operations. Sharpiegate is just the latest small example. there's every other s****y thing Trump has done propping it up.

The Sharpie Presidency - Progressive.org

The beauty of the blatant lie about the NOAA map of Hurricane Dorian — and the fact it was done in such a slapdash way — is probably one of the most accessible examples of what this administration is all about. Lie. Get caught. Then lie bigger. Then smear the people (in this case career government scientists) who point out your lie.

What incident? The unhinged media making something out of nothing? Again...

Pseudo events are the way of the day.

The New Propaganda

"“Modern propaganda is a consistent, enduring effort to create or shape events to influence the relations of the public to an enterprise, idea, or group.” [Bernays, 52] He elaborates as follows:

This practice of creating circumstances and of creating pictures in the minds of millions of persons is very common. Virtually no undertaking is now carried on without it, whether the enterprise be building a cathedral, endowing a university, marketing a moving picture, floating a large bond issue, or electing a president. Sometimes the effect on the public is created by a professional propagandist, sometimes by an amateur deputed for the job. The important thing is that it is universal and continuous; and in its sum total it is regimenting the public mind every bit as much as an army regiments the bodies of its soldiers. Yes, there is a deadly serious aspect to the incident, but the Trump supporters simply do not care, will not be swayed. It's good for the rest of us to be reminded that there's nothing unusual here - it's business as usual for Trump and his defenders. Trump is dragging every legitimate organization into the dirt so that actual facts, objective truth, in general don't matter, only what Trump declares to be facts.

It's actually scary because the facts here are so obvious, and when the Trump supporting public and more importantly the political leaders defend THIS, then there is no bottom. This is 2+2=13 stuff, and they insist that if Trump says it's so, 2+2 can actually equal 13!

And it's amazing what they'll consider as "owning the libs". Even when Twump gets caught in a blatant lie, an obvious failure to own anyone but himself, that's still a "win" in their eyes because it "twiggers the libewals".

So, you're either backing up our concerns or it's the most obvious case of 'projection' we've seen in some time. Bravo!

admitting Dear Leader can be wrong.

Actually, he was obviously wrong as Alabama is now fine instead of dealing with the aftermath of a hurricane that was headed directly that way. What now?

I am actually glad less US citizens were not hit.

How about you?

You do know that weather reports are predictions, correct?

We have heard from the usual suspects on cnn and ( that often have to backpedal) on this board declare with absolute certainty the president of the united states magically came up with a powerpoint and willfully found a sharpie to alter what he was told by government officials for some as yet unexplained malicious intent.

Screaming fire in a crowded theatre perhaps....

Prosecute if you can. I have seen no evidence to that effect so far. If you are so right , Proving your claims should be easy. Do we even have a sharpie to fingerprint?

Right now we need to all join together and hope TDS is covered in the next Health Care legislation....The tragedy.

Cool. We agree! See that wasn't hard. Now if only Trump could admit it versus spending a week lying to cover for his obvious mistakes, and forcing Sec. Ross to threaten firings if the political staff don't bail out their wrongheaded boss, we'd be getting somewhere.

BTW, here's the latest prediction. Hope Trump warns ALABAMA!!

Oh...Then you are fuming about nothing then. He did admit it. He said it made a right turn. Carry on.

"And it took a right turn and ultimately — hopefully, we’re going to be lucky. It depends on what happens with South Carolina and North Carolina. But it’s heading up the coast, and Florida was grazed. Mostly wind. And we’re going to have a report on that."

So despite the fact that almost every time Trump opens is fat orange mouth he says something ridiculous, we're supposed to entertain the notion that in reality he is normal and the nefarious media propaganda machine has convinced us otherwise.

Come on, there is really not much to it. We all know what we see and hear: Trump is a moron. A dishonest one. There's no way to gaslight that away with lofty political theory about "propagandists". Trump's ass-hattery is much more down to earth.
