Trump displays altered weather map showing Dorian could have hit Alabama

Two more days and we will break three weeks............:screwy

That's a lot of ranting for very little purchase.

I can say that he was wrong, but I'm not going to lie and say that there existed no chance of the state being hit.

I'm just being factual here.

Everything else is being spread by people we don't even exist. So if me just going with the basest form of reality is upsetting, then okay. But just let this crap die already.

All of you losing your heads over him being simply wrong, is starting to wear thin.

The problem isn't that he was nearly entirely incorrect. Everybody, even his own supporters, expects Trump to be inaccurate or careless with the things he says or tweets. This story blew up when Trump tried to claim something happened when it didn't. There was no official NOAA forecast map which predicted that the path of the hurricane would strike Alabama. Trump obviously confused the wind probability forecasts with the forecasts of the path of the hurricane. To cover up his mistake he drew on an official hurricane-path forecast and presented it to the American people, in the oval office mind you, as if it were the real thing. This sort of falsification of official documents, the presentation of it in the oval office, and the subsequent threats to employees of the government for contradicting Trump, on the whole, represent blatantly authoritarian acts which are Orwellian in nature. With an act like this Trump is trying to demonstrate that he has the authority to change reality, that reality and objective truth does not exist independent of what he wants it to be. That's why people are angry. And it's not their problem that Trump lied. It's not the fault of Trump critics that they are upset. There is nothing wrong with them. It's normal to be upset when somebody lies to you. What's not normal is your behavior and the behavior of other Trump supporters who continually defend a habitual liar, and pretend that blatantly tyrannical acts are no big deal. There is something wrong with you when you lamely try to defend and apologize for the act of falsifying official government documents. You're the problem. And Trump has been trying to gaslight the entire country from the very beginning. And Trump isn't going to stop. Remember that brouhaha about the crowd size at his inaugural? This kind of stuff is very damaging to our country. It erodes the trust people have with their government and even with their fellow citizens.

So, no. I'm not going to stop. When Trump lies I'm going to call it out. When Trump supporters defend his lies by lying more I will call them out as well.

So you are angry a prediction did not come true? The good people of the state spared a hurricane may disagree with your wish they be harmed.

No.

I am not angry a prediction did or did not come true.

I'm angry Trump lied.

Let me ask you the question again. If it could be proven Trump lied, that he drew on the weather forecast predicting the path of the hurricane with a sharpie, would you condemn this act? At the very least, would you join the rest of us in criticizing this action?

About what?

You do know what a prediction is, correct?

You must hate meteorologists and psychics equally then as their predictions are quite wrong from time to time.

The next step is to pretend the issue isn't all that important to him.

If???

I cannot decipher what actions are occurring in your head at the moment.

What we do know factually is previous storm tracks have followed the same path to alternate conclusions supporting a wide variety of predictions.

Even weather.com had a storm track that crossed Alabama.

Once again more ranting, and you've thrown in a massive amount of subjective opinion to boot.

The concept of likelihood and reading comprehension shouldn't be foreign to anyone on this site.

Trumps tweet stated that Alabama was more likely (along with the Carolinas and Georgia) to get hit (much) harder than originally predicted by Dorian on that Saturday. This was a false statement. It couldn't be a true statement unless Dorian had grown bigger in size (actual size, not intensity), which it hadn't. A hurricane like cannot hit Alabama and the Carolinas harder at the same time. There was no prediction of this. It had turned up the east coast, away from hitting Alabama, not more likely to hit it at all, let alone harder. He made a mistake or was lying for some stupid reason by including Alabama. Not that hard to simply admit, but instead he and his supporters continue to try to prove he was right when he couldn't have been right given geography and the conditions of the storm at that time.

You're not going to gaslight me, and Trump is not going to gaslight the nation, and soon he will no longer be President.

So why do you wish the good people of Alabama harm again? What did they do to you that you would have them not warned of being in the path of a weather event? The whole idea of not letting them know what was approaching seems mean spirited.
"This means that our short- and medium-range forecasts are the most accurate. Long-range forecasts predicting the weather for more than 7 days in advance should be seen as a rough guide"

I like knowing my area is in the path of a hurricane.

Now if you can prove there was no hurricane at all....

So why do you wish the good people of Alabama harm again? What did they do to you that you would have them not warned of being in the path of a weather event?

They were warned of a weather event which had some probability of occurring. They were warned of a chance of winds, and during a brief period, high winds, still less than hurricane-force winds which might impact a tiny portion of Alabama.

They were never warned a hurricane might strike them because no such forecast was ever made.

The problem is when you warn people about stuff which has almost no chance of occurring you are doing them a disservice.

I'm surprised you Trump supporters haven't already blamed Trump's lie, the act of drawing on the forecast map, on Biden, or the Democrats, or the "deep-state".

I like knowing my area is in the path of a hurricane.

Now if you can prove there was no hurricane at all....

At no point did the NOAA present to Trump a forecast which indicated that the path of the hurricane might strike Alabama. This never happened. The wind probability maps indicated forecasts which showed winds might strike in a small corner of Alabama with speeds less than hurricane-force winds. This means it would not have been a hurricane by the time it hit that tiny part of Alabama, and therefore far less dangerous. Trump made a mistake when he tweeted Alabam was in danger.

It is obvious Trump confused the wind probability forecasts with the path of the hurricane.

But, again, and I don't know why I have to keep repeating hits...but that's not the main problem. The main problem is he lied about it.

This was a short range forecast, at that time, Saturday. They were not in harm's way at that time. There was still plenty if time to warn them if the hurricane change course again, something that was not likely to happen however given the atmospheric conditions we had. There would be more danger in including them as in harm's way at that time than leaving them as they were, monitoring for possible change.

Possibly. None of which should inspire your ire or commence your gallows building.

That's not what makes me mad.

The fact he lied about it makes me mad.

And the fact he lied should make YOU mad as well.

The problem with this is he couldn't admit to a simple mistake, and instead doubled down by lying insisting he was right. He wasn't. His text was factually wrong. It isnt that hard for most to say they were wrong, it is for this President.

Predictions are not factual until they actually happen. At the time the storm was proceeding as it had before regardless if it was PREDICTED to turn.

I am not mad Alabama turned out ok. I am glad when Americans or anyone else for that matter, is unharmed.

Thank you for taking time away from persecuting children to respond (as your sig indicates) .

What? are we just playing a game of "post a random video from 2018" now? Or are you trying to make an argument?

He was threatening people with fake bombs too? I did not see that on his sig. Thanks.
