Trump Cancels Pelosi's Trip To Egypt, Brussels And Afghanastan

Ted Cruz made a good point in a recent interview, when answering the "why" behind Nancy Pelosi refusing to negotiate with Trump. First, he believes Pelosi feels she is beholding to her far-Left base which has taken hold in the Dem party. Further, he rightly pointed out that in 2013, Schumer and every Senate Democrat voted for 350 miles of border fencing. In 2018-2019, Democrats refuse to negotiate for funding 234 miles of border fencing, thus they are willing to keep the government shutdown over something they were in favor of-even MORE of- in 2013.
This is not objective, nor is it rational.
Hence, the deflection to the defenseless posture of "immorality"

Exactly. Today, they either oppose the wall simply because it was Trump that proposed it, or they are suddenly strongly favor illegal immigration

Didn't really answer the question. Why didn't trump shut down the government for the wall in his first two years? He had higher approval ratings and much more support than he does now.

I hate to be the one to break this to you, however in reality, Trump enjoys just as much support if now as when he was first elected. As for why he did not shut it down until now, try paying a little attention to what goes on in congress. He went through with the shutdown after gaining support in the House of reps(influenced by the Freedom Caucus) at the 11th hour while the GOP still controlled congress. Remember the bill that was passed in the house just days after Nancy "dementia" Pelosi told Trump he did not have the votes in the House?

Both, perhaps. Acutally, likely. The far-leftist, socialist, Marxist base desires a permanent underclass who will vote for them. We have to remember there is no such thing as the Democrat party any longer. It's gone. It's firmly held hostage by far leftists who want to "fundamentally change America".

Any time and every time you guys say "fake news" I know you're making it up. Which testifies that you haven't any reply or argument. Indeed the standard and boring failed tactic is to deny then make up your own wild and nonsense claims, assertions and make believe. When you guys don't accept anything and deny everything then there's nothing to discuss.

Post rejected due to defective intellect and morality.

You should have received an education on fake news last night after the Special Counsel's office debunked the BuzzFeed story that all those networks were harping on all day long and bringing the word impeachment over 200 times. I'll overlook your juvenile ad hominem.

Uh huh...So there "is" no policy set forth by Trump that contributed!

BTW...Why the personal insult? Never mind...no need to answer...clearly you are not able to debate or argue your stance without insulting those you oppose or disagree with.

Insult? I'm concerned.

Ted Cruz is a dishonest hack. He knows damn well that deal was a huge, comprehensive immigration deal with paths to citizenship and DACA equivalents, AND it had the border security provisions. So it's the equivalent of a deal involving a trade of a used Ford F-150 plus $50,000 for a $70,000 ski boat. Five years later, the deal is the used F-150 for the ski boat. Cruz: Why won't they take this deal - they voted for it five years ago!!!!

And that painfully negotiated compromise piece of legislation was met with a big old, FU!!! from the GOP House where it was literally DOA. There is no chance Cruz votes for that deal, and he voted against it in 2013, and it wouldn't make it through the Senate, so it's a false comparison from start to finish. Or, if he wants to call the Democrats hypocrites, introduce the bill that was agreed to in 2013 and get it done, get the 51 votes in the GOP controlled Senate.

Border security provisions? We have had border security provisions for decades. Rank and file Americans are no longer buying it. It's time to give the Border Patrol the needed tools to do it's job. Build the wall!

Damn she didn't go on her runaway trip to keep from having to deal with Trump to solve the border security problem. That's what I would her a "grand asshole."

Agreed. Despite Pelosi's claim after regaining the Speaker's seat of wanting to be transparent, she want's no such thing. She does not want public negotiations on the border wall. She knows she would lose. That's why she has been in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and intended to go to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan, all during the shutdown.

And they feel that a permanent underclass base of peasants that can be plied with government entitlements will ultimately keep them in power.

And they feel that a permanent underclass base of peasants that can be plied with government entitlements will ultimately keep them in power.

That's exactly it. Trump is upsetting the apple cart, so to speak. What Dems don't want is people rising up out of poverty and dependence on government handouts. All this low unemployment is making them nervous. So are job reports and the strong economy. People coming off the dole means less people need their promises of free everything.

Why the selective outrage? Former Demopcrat Senator Harry Reid when in control of the Senate withheld Bills he knew would probably pass in the Senate and the president would sign.

++ Point well taken. My point was that the Senate should pass/reject the bill and let Trump veto it rather than shut down the govt.

We have roughly 25 million illegal immigrants in this country with thousands sneaking in every year. They are overwhelming our border patrol as well as our social services. Just how is it not a problem?

++ From what I have read, illegal migration from Mexico was down these past years, with more people going south than coming north due to Mexico’s economy improving. And we benefit from our addiction to cheap labor. The same forces that are anti-illegal are hardly working to raise the minimum wage.

I really do not give a **** about what the GOP in congress is enthusiastic for. The majority of them are spineless. However I and the majority of Americans who voted for Trump support the border wall 100%.

++ The majority of Americans who voted for Trump is still a significant minority of Americans. One of the hallmarks of his presidency has been to continue the divisiveness of the campaign instead of trying to unify the country. But who am I to complain, as this behavior has worked well for him.

This is your second time in the same post making that incredibly ignorant suggestion. It's especially ignorant considering the massive migrant caravans presently attempting entry.

++ The caravans have been Central Americans fleeing gang and government violence to other Central American countries, to Mexico, some Spain has taken in according to what I was told in Mexico, and to the US. Compared to other migrations of refugees and economic migrants elsewhere in the world, this is small potatoes. Good news is a report that Trump apparently plans to work w other countries to improve conditions, a tall order however.

You are making it up as you go along. Trump is not anti-immigrant or anti-asylum. If you want to be taken seriously, you must stop lumping in illegal immigrants with legal immigrants. He is quite okay with immigration. His wife is an immigrant. There is a legal process for immigrating to this country. That process does not include sneaking across the border and hiding in the shadows. And Trump has no problem with refugees seeking asylum as long as they do it legally. And again, that does not include sneaking across the border. You must go to a legal port of entry and make the asylum request. Then at at point, if you qualify for asylum, it's granted. Migrants legally seeking asylum face the same requirements as under any previous president.

++ there is no space/time to list his anti-legal immigrant measures. Just one. A legal gets mugged/injured, loses job, gets govt. help. Trump would prevent citizenship. Respectfully, you are wrong about asylum. I worked in the field for 20 years. One can be considered for asylum “irrespective of status,” says the law —legal, illegal, border jumper, visa overstayer. He has changed the rules to make many current migrants ineligible for asylum, changing precedent that dates to the 80s. He grumbled about having to accept refugees from Asia already approved in partnership with ANZUS countries. He lied about Syrian refugee vetting, perhaps the most stringent vetting of immigrants there is. (See the DOS website.) And his proposed refugee admissions are the lowest in history.

You really are clueless. It's called compromise. trump originally wanted a concrete wall. Steel is much less expensive and the border patrol has expressed support for that as it is basically a wall of steel slats that the border patrol can see through. Trump is fine with a wall of steel slats. So am I.

++ As I said, this is much ado about essentially nothing. Trump had a compromise in Congress ready to go til he heard from Coulter and Limbaugh. The wall is Trump’s Pharoh’s tomb.

Tsk, tsk.....so much hatred for Pelosi. Well too bad, she's right and he's wrong.

You mean she's right in hiding from Trump and not doing the business of congress in which she is the leader of the house. She goes to Hawaii, then they play in the sand at Puerto Rico and then she wanted to spend a week flying around Brussels and wherever else. Pelosi is a coward and won't even try to solve a serious problem at our border. She's had a month to stand up and get things done but cowards run and hide rather than govern.

Yes, and . . . ?

Hey pardon moi but you're the guy who posted a while ago that you retired from the intelligence service with the rank equivalent of lieutenant general in the armed forces. That you can seem stumped on the role of Coulter and Limbaugh in Trump's reversals of his government shutdown likely testifies to our intelligence failures over several decades. Cause there's a swarm of people here who know the role of the dynamic duo and their far right crazies in Trump's shutdown madness.

I enjoy your cute flash in the pan posts btw.

Pelosi is a coward and keeps herself in hiding to not have to do her job as speaker of the house. The libs have repeatedly said "open the border and we'll talk" what bull****. They've had a month to stand up and make a deal but no, she proved herself to be a coward.

Where has Mitch McConnell been? He's the Senate Majority Leader and MISSING IN ACTION. But of course when he was present, he outright refused to DO HIS JOB and bring the democrats proposals to Trump!

He's been there all along, and Schumer will not talk to McConnell as the Coward Pelosi is running the show for the liberal democrats.

The point of my post was to ask whether you were making any point that was not already obvious to everyone. Apparently not.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/11/politics/mitch-mcconnell-congress-shutdown/index.html

As shutdown drags on, McConnell heads home to Kentucky, leaving Democrats angry.

CNN)Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was not in the Capitol Friday, when some furloughed federal workers missed their first paychecks and the government shutdown tied the mark for the longest in American history.

McConnell, who has been brutalized by Democrats for blocking votes to reopen the government, skipped his customary remarks as the Senate gaveled in, when he might have defended his decision not to allow votes until a broad deal is reached between President Donald Trump and congressional Democrats over border wall funding.

Instead, McConnell -- who was headed home to Kentucky, according to his staff -- and other Republicans largely left the floor to Democrats who gave speech after speech assailing them for not standing up for federal workers by standing up to Trump.
"Sen. McConnell and his caucus are AWOL in the middle of this shutdown. They are hiding out. They want to hide behind the President instead of doing their jobs as leaders in a co-equal separate branch of the government," said Sen. Chris Van Hollen a Democrat from Maryland as he walked off the floor after discussing the plight of federal workers in his state. "This is the Trump shutdown, but Sen. McConnell and his caucus are becoming bigger and bigger accomplices."

++ As I said, this is much ado about essentially nothing. Trump had a compromise in Congress ready to go til he heard from Coulter and Limbaugh. The wall is Trump’s Pharoh’s tomb.

Enough with your corny obsession with Coulter and Limbaugh. How about compromise on the border wall. That is what the government shutdown is about. When Chuckles and Nancy are ready to compromise on the border wall , we will get close to the end of the shutdown.
