The Silent Majority Won't Be So Silent Come November

A stunning new poll from the Cato Institute shows 62% of Americans are afraid to openly share their political beliefs with a whopping 77% of Republicans fearing some sort of backlash for being "outed" as a Trump-supporting conservative.

No one who has been paying attention to our society should be shocked by this.

From Fox News' Tucker Carlson nearly getting doxxed by The New York Times to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees being ostracized by the same sports league he helped enrich to a teacher in Michigan getting fired for saying Donald Trump is our president (which, last time I checked was an undeniable fact) publicly expressing any opinion that goes against the authors of The 1619 Project or the most extreme sexual deviance of Hollywood's radical left endangers one's privacy, career, and even physical well-being.

The culture that has been fostered and empowered by intersectional academic elites protected by tenure at well-endowed (and government-funded) universities as well as the arbiters of acceptable behavior who sit behind plexiglass desks in cable news studios high above the streets of Manhattan, the lessons have been carefully and painfully taught to all Americans. If you're not in-line with the woke minority with the loudest voices, better stay quiet if you know what's good for you.

People are being fired for supporting a political candidate. People's lives are being destroyed for sharing thoughts and opinions.

If you haven't figured it out, the left have become authoritarian fascists and thought police. People have seen enough.

"Silent majority" that showed up in record numbers for house Republicans (per orders of their messiah) in 2018 and got their asses handed to them by 9 points nationally.

The article doesn't support the title. It's a pathetic whinefest begging people to vote.

The poll didn't ask people if they lie to pollsters. It asked them questions unrelated to the fact that Trump is getting his ass kicked. There is no silent majority. The author is lying to you.

This dude literally then posted some youtube video of some right wing incel virgin rambling on about "culture wars".

"Schism" will operate under a different account after the election, watch.

The poll speaks for itself: Poll: 62% of Americans Say They Have Political Views They’re Afraid to Share | Cato Institute

A new Cato national survey finds that self‐censorship is on the rise in the United States. Nearly two-thirds—62%—of Americans say the political climate these days prevents them from saying things they believe because others might find them offensive. The share of Americans who self‐censor has risen several points since 2017 when 58% of Americans agreed with this statement.

Political Opinion Chart
These fears cross partisan lines. Majorities of Democrats (52%), independents (59%) and Republicans (77%) all agree they have political opinions they are afraid to share.

Liberals Are Divided on Political Expression
Strong liberals stand out, however, as the only political group who feel they can express themselves. Nearly 6 in 10 (58%) of staunch liberals feel they can say what they believe. However, centrist liberals feel differently. A slim majority (52%) of liberals feel they have to self‐censor, as do 64% of moderates, and 77% of conservatives. This demonstrates that political expression is an issue that divides the Democratic coalition between centrist Democrats and their left flank.

You take some specific issue with the poll?

It's common for the weaker posters here to attack the poster or slaughter the source when you can't address the subject matter.

Carry on.

Afraid to share with people in their private lives. Again, the poll did not ask if people were afraid to share with pollsters.

Biden is trouncing Trump in every poll, on every issue, in every battleground state. Nobody is lying to the pollsters. They're lying to each other. There is no silent majority.

What subject matter? You copying and pasting stuff you probably only read the title of, in an attempt to troll?

Do you EVER bring anything to the table besides the usual talking points your masters tell you to repeat?

You take some issue with the poll?

Your leader says polls are fake.

Are they real now? Or is this an "internal poll"?

I'm not surprised that you didn't know this. After all, we're here on a news and political forum.

I know who he is. My description was accurate.

I agree, which is why tRumpers cackle in three part not so harmony at every poll showing tRump getting his rump kicked by Biden...

But it does raise an interesting point (one you keep dodging) if you believe the CATO poll, do you believe all the other polls showing tRump trailing Biden in almost every demographic????

Don't quibble or dodge, a simple yes or no will do, carry on... :peace

Gerrymandering resulted in Democrats picking up less house seats.

But House Democrats received over 60+ million votes in 2018, a record for the mid-terms, and almost equaling Trump's 62.9 million in 2016 in a general election. House Republicans received like 46 million votes in 2010, and basically won because of lower turn out among Democrats.

Big difference. Basically, whenever there is high turn out, Democrats win, and win big. You people only win when Democrats don't vote.

I would not put much stock on this poll. It was done online and they are giving out the sampling data to determine how they weighted it.

Regardless, it doesn't support the claim of a silent majority. It proves it doesn't exist.
I dont buy into the silemt majority argument either but pretending like Biden or Trump has this thing locked up is foolish. Odds are it will be a very tight race.

Gerrymsnderimg does not exist in the senate. They are decided by statewide popular votes.
