It was likely Johnson's choice to call in to and make an appearance on, so to speak, Pastor Jim Garlow's program.
 
Update: this ZOOM call was recorded before Johnson became SOTH, 3OCT if reports are true.

I still find it inappropriate.

Right now it is. If Johnson had his way, it wouldn't be. Because he's an Evangelical Christian. It's all part of the drip, drip, drip.

I can lead a horse to water but I can't make them drink. If you have read the policy agenda for Project 2025 and understand the mission of Evangelical Christians and your only observation is to ask a pedantic gotcha question, you're playing games and ain't nobody got time for that.
