The hypocritical Christianity of Huckabee

Please tell me you’re not saying what the OP is so worked up about is the same as terrorism. Given what has recently been exposed about Hollywood that lefties have overlooked for years, treating it as a joke, while at the same time claiming some sort of protector status of women, a lot of lefties and media can stuff their selective outrage.

And yet another dumb deflection. Holy ****, the stupidity never ends. Can't address the actual point, so make stuff up to deflect. What, are you OK with Huckabees hypocrisy?

Please re-read and attempt to understand my post in context. rather than grasping one part in attempted defense.

Please knock off the hypotheticals and focus to the topic. Thank you in advance.

Ok, let’s cut to the chase. What do you need to see to not fault all Christians for Huckabee’s words?

Would you ever attempt to blame Islam for the bigoted words of Farrakhan? Is that what Islam means in this country?

Why single out Christianity as a (the?) key defining trait that must be why Mike Huckabee spoke so inappropriately?

Mike Huckabee is also male, over age 60, republicant, white, appeared on Fox News and was raised in Arkansas.

I already have condemned Farrakhan. Numerous times. What does that have to do with Mike Huckabee?

What attempt at understanding could I expect in return?

On Saturday, (Mike) Huckabee tweeted his delight at the news that Andrew McCabe, former deputy director of the FBI and 21-year veteran of the agency, had been fired the night before. McCabe would have been able to retire Sunday.

“Breaking Wind from CNN!” he wrote. “Andy McCabe offered deal for lying to FBI and won’t get pension but will get passage in overhead bin on United flight to Oakland to work for scofflaw mayor.”

Huckabee was referring to a dog that died this week after it was put in the overhead bin of a United Airlines flight. David Huckabee, the former governor’s son, killed a dog while working as a counselor at a Boy Scouts camp in 1998. Funny stuff, right?

Is this Christian behavior? Gloating like a high school bully about McCabe losing his pension, and then using the pain of a woman whose dog died on an airplane last week.

This man's daughter is the President's mouthpiece. His son was found to have tortured and killed a stray dog for kicks. He finds ghoulish humor in a career public servant losing his pension.

Is this what Christianity means in this country? This is what the Evangelicals want taught in our schools? People who say America is in bad shape because we "lost God" - this is what you want our kids to be like?

I ain't got no love for that smarmy douche, but schadenfreude is a very human emotion, I was quite pleased to see that the FBI fired the guy before he lived off a pension he no longer deserved. No one is above the law, and once in a while the system works. This time it did. What's Huckabee have to do with it other than to play some emotional "OMGosh Christians are hypocrites!! Because look this huckabe guy he's being so mean about it..."

1. McCabe deserved it, he earned his firing. He chose to act in a way that the FBI Proper, made clear long time ago, was not acceptable.
2. A career public servant... who happened to break the law, break the rules and oh see 1.
3. This was a pointless OP other than to deflect a reality and try to make some weird feel sorry for a bad person facing the consequences of his actions...

Please show me where I faulted all Christians for Huckabee's words.

Please, this is so dishonest. Ask if Huckabee is what it means to be Christian yet deny you ever suggested such a thing. What does Christianity have to do with Huckabee’s comment at all?

I suggest reading the thread, since I said more than once why he claims to speak as a Christian.

I asked if this was Christian behavior or not. Anyone is free to answer my question. Including you.

Christians (and others) bash Muslims for not yelling at their terrorists and say that means they support them...what does it say about Christians that they are silent about child molestation, Porn star infidelity, lying....etc....hell they even seem to champion it. The Christian faith has been decimated by the silence of its devout in the U.S.

Generalization decimates one's arguments in a debate.

Lots of Christians do speak up against this stuff, but on the flip side, it's generally only bigots that expect people to answer for the actions of others. I don't expect moderate Muslims to control their radical fringe anymore than I expect moderate Christians to control theirs. They're busing working, feeding their family, doing work around the house, and basically living their lives. And why shouldn't they, if they're not doing anything wrong?

Put your anger in the right place. I'm a Christian, and don't advocate or tolerate any of the things your generalization says I do. I show my disapproval by not associating with denominations that engage in the things you're alleging, and by not supporting them financially...and calling out their bull****, on a person by person basis, when I have the time and inclination. If you are going to call out an entire demographic, you'd better be sure that what you're saying applies to all of them.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people have to pretend to be Christian.

The very clear point is that you were condemning a religion based on the individual action of one of its followers. What Farrakhan has to do with Huckabee was simply providing another example of someone worthy of personal condemnation which does not extend to all that profess to share their religion.

The very clear point is that I was condemning Mike Huckabee for being a fake Christian, and pointing out how hypocritical some of these Christians leaders (of which he counts himself) are. You may want to read the thread and my posts in it again instead of allowing your partisanship to take over your posts.

I cannot tell you that Huckabee isn't truly Christian because I do not know. I assume so if that's what he says his beliefs are and I'm always hesitant to judge someone else's relationship with God. If the question is whether his comment proves him to be a fake Christian or flawed Christian, I'd answer "no" and "probably" respectively. I do not believe that having character flaws, or someone expressing something in a mean way means someone is less of a Christian. Well, no less of a Christian than any of us who have fallen short of the glory of God, which is pretty much all of us.

Sadly, given the actual text, the folks from those days who wrote those concepts down were a lot more progressive than a lot of our modern day "Christians"...the barbarism is current, and walks around in suits and does it's rape and pillage on the stock markets...not to mention in government. There's a lot done in the name of Christianity that, as a Christian, I wouldn't want to have to answer for...

Amen. As a Christian, I do not align myself with today's religious right.

Nor do any of the Christians I know. I have a good friend who is very Christian - she's born again (it saved her life too as she was on a spiral). She's actually the one who brought this to my attention yesterday. I hadn't heard what Huckabee had done. She is repulsed by him and at one time she was an enthusiastic supporter. She even volunteered for his campaigns here - because of his Christianity and wanting to bring it back to schools and all that.

The alt-religious right is damaging Christianity. It has been for some time. Huckabee included.

Spell out for me the obvious hypocrisy.

So you can ignore it, play stupid and continue to troll? If you can't see how obvious his hateful words go against everything that Jesus stood for (you know, the entire basis of Christianity) then you never will. Or more likely you will intentionally play dumb because you can't actual back up anything you stand for

These types of people just have constant victimhood. They try to pretend any slight at any christian is a slight on Christianity. It's probably because they are hypocrites themselves and agree with the hateful idiocy of Huckabee and people like him

Amen. As a Christian, I do not align myself with today's religious right.

If someone feels their politics makes them morally superior and/or that their political beliefs are the ones most likely approved by God Himself, it certainly is far easier to decide God actually wants you to dislike and judge those you disagree with. This may be true of Huckabee as I do tend to see this more from those on the right, but clearly the left isn't immune from it.

Do you believe it's possible to be a genuine Christian but hold different political views than you? I don't expect an answer but I'd be truly curious how you'd answer that in your mind.

You asked "Is this what Christianity means in this country?" which is clearly an attempt to transfer fault (lay blame?) for inappropriate behavior of one named individual to their professed religious affiliation. Why not ask "Is this what being a man means in this country?", "Is this what being conservative means in this country?" or "Is this what coming from Arkansas means in this country?".

Huckabee counts himself as being a conservative man from Arkansas as well as being Christian. Yes, even Christians (like conservative men from Arkansas) can (and do) say inappropriate nonsense on Twitter. I am not partisan (I think you really meant biased) towards or against Christians, men, conservatives or folks from Arkansas - none of which have anything to do with the fact that Huckabee tweeted inappropriate garbage.

In that you have irritated the **** out of me in the past, and probably will again, I will attest that you are far from a partisan apologist for religious righties.
