Let's be realistic. You're not getting reelected when half the country thinks you should be removed from office.

If Trump resigns you can get another conservative to run. Democrats who have some vulnerability given how far to the left some of their positions are. If you run a John Kasich, you could win.

Republicans and conservatives, do you think Trump should announce he won't run for reelection?

That's the best hope for Democrats...lol

Trump will never forgo running unless he gets a pardon from Cuomo, and that ain't gonna happen. If the Republicans in the Senate sustain his impeachment and dump his ass, they'll have a fighting chance with Pense in 2020.

To the bolded: Yes you can, get elected with less than 50%!.

Third party candidates take their cut, and the Electoral College can exaggerate the weighting of the vote. It's very possible to win with 45-46% under the right conditions.

And let's not forget: It's not "what the country thinks", but rather which voters actually come out to register their votes!

Doesn't matter. The Republican Party is finished. I'm glad I left the sinking ship when i did because I would not want to be a Republican right now. They also know that Trump has ruined 2020 for them.

You do make a good point. The third party thought is a nightmare scenario.

But we're not talking about 50% disapproval. We're talking about 50% think Trump should be removed due to corrupt behavior.

Those are uniquely unfavorable circumstances.

It seems to me that trump is about as hateful and vindictive as any human can be. If he goes down he is looking at jail time. I guarantee you he will take everyone with him. McCarthy is already exposed for taking payments. No, this is going to be bad.

The TEA partiers got their candidate. The rest of the country tried to tell them it was a bad idea ...

It's actually Pence and no, he'll be too tainted to run if Trump is impeached.

You are dreaming.

You are dreaming.

I remember several months before Nixon resigned I saw a small article in the Wall Street Journal and it was headlined president Jerry Ford?

The story kind of gave us the idea that it was a joke. Jerry Ford was a obscure timid and quiet congressman who most people had never heard of.

In 1974 it became reality

We really don't know what's going to happen in 2020 when the rubber hits the road

Where did you hear that? You believing these fake polls again? 45,000 people show up in Minneapolis for a Trump rally and you think half the country wants him Impeached?

You guys got more stories than anyone can keep up with. Voters are watching Democrats dodging a House vote, having hearings behind closed doors, and trying to Impeach with an anonymous WB? Here your best hint.

If you have the evidence to Impeach a president you would

1. Present that evidence to the House
2. Get a House vote to pass for an Impeachment Inquiry
3. Hold public hearings so everyone could hear the testimony
4. Provide your evidence to the public

Instead you are hiding behind
Pelosi doesn't have to do it that way
The WB will not take any questions and only testify in writing
All hearings behind closed doors
You will just have to take are word on what the WB said

If you think for a second that voters are going to follow you down the Impeachment road like this when everything Trump was accused of has failed for over 3 years, you are smoking way too much of what ever you're smoking.

Trump will not be Impeached
Trump will not step down
Trump will win the next election by a huge landslide

You might as well get used to it now so it won't be such a shock when it happens. If Pelosi had the evidence she wouldn't skip the most powerful tool she has, the House vote, and she wouldn't be holding hearings behind closed doors.

Well, that’s why you don’t work for the government and never will, this kind of delusional thinking is at best a wish. How much egg on your face do you need?

Just from being curious are you saying an investigation should be cooperating with the person/s being investigated so the person/s being investigated would be able to prepare a proper defense? Did I get that correctly?

Unless nobody noticed, the end of the beginning of the complete unraveling of TrumpWorld came this week. Between his Syrian disaster, his utter complete failings at court, continued resignations from his Administration, the arrests of the two Rudy henchmen that were literally promoting corruption in Ukraine in the face of Trump yammering about fighting corruption in Ukraine, Pompeo utterly unraveling in the face of questioning from a local reporter in Tennessee and finally Ambassador Yovanovitch's testimony today to Congress, defiantly appearing in the face of tremendous personal risk to herself. Pompeo is in a world of trouble at this point. Rudy is in a world of trouble. Barr will be in a world of trouble and Trump is in a world of trouble.

And, this is only the end of the beginning.

In truth, its all but DONE! If Trump survives removal in the Senate, he will be so damaged that the GOP would be wise to run virtually anybody else because they now risk losing the party. Just about the only thing that has kept them on the RS Trumpkin party boat has been fear of the Trump base. Well they are now on the bring of losing the fundamental framework of their political existence, the GOP itself. Trump will take the party down with him.

Democrats know Trump will be hard to beat in 2020, which is why they wish republicans would replace him on the 2020 ticket.

If you look at the polls only the ones taken in a short period of time during the peak frenzy of reporting show a majority.

IMPEACHMENT-POLLS

Infact if you look at the polls there was massive support for impeachment that nearly follows party lines from the day he took office, which should say that one party affilliation heavily supports impeachment not the american people, which also includes republicans and independants, also note polls with higher samplings of independants tend to have lower support for impeachment, and polls who grossly undersample independants tend to nearly match political affiliation, which means this is more about politics than anything.

Trump also has a very active support base, his approval ratings are nearly identical to obama at this point and obama won re election, and also the fact the democrats have an extremely poor run of candidates this year, few look like they can make it anywhere and one or two tops would actually have enough core supporters to beat trump in a general election.

For fun try googling obama impeachment polls, obama had massive support for impeachment as well you just did not have the media spamming it 14/7, and just like with trump the support fell along political lines.

I think the leftist positions of Democrats is exaggerated but I agree Trump is doomed and Kasich would give them a chance, small chance but a chance.

In this country, if you are accused of a crime, you are required to present your evidence to the accused. Its called discovery. And yes, they have a right to prepare a proper defense.

If your Impeaching a president, you present your evidence to the House to vote on an Impeachment Inquiry.

If you are investigating someone looking for a crime, thats a crime.

Annnd this is why no Democrat is going to win the presidency. You don't get to point your finger, make an accusation, and have someone convicted. You are in the wrong country.

This is the same bad faith advice that left-wing pundits gave the GOP four years ago.

That's what Pelosi and many other top Democrats dread more than anything. If there's a trial in the senate, all of the Democrat dirty laundry regarding the Ukraine will be aired out for all the world to see, and it ain't gonna be pretty.

He is not subject to crimal prosecution and penalties due the an impeachment inquiry or even impeachment, the result can only result in their being removed from office. Now if a crime is shown to have taken place then it would be up to the legal system to charge them and put them on trial for a crime, then the defendant is allowed access to what the prosecution has as evidence. One does not have a right to have question what is being found during an active investigation. Right now trump is only being investigated and it looks like more evidence is being found, if at some point the House votes for impeachment and sends their case to the Senate then Trump's lawyers will have a right to present their side to the Senate. We shall see what happens but right now it looks like more evidence is being gained and that it is likely the House will vote to impeach trump what the Senate does will be determined based on the evidence, I would not count on the Senate saving trump if the evidence is too damning.
