The 9 Wildest Answers in Trump's Interview With Jonathan Swan

I bet if Trump's opponents weren't half as dishonest as he is, he'd never get a single vote.

Which of Trump's opponents have over 14,000 documented lies or misstatements?

I'm going to assume you skip this.

i don't think i've ever seen a 70some year old man who is this colossally petty.

What makes this even more difficult to understand is the fact that all he has to do is say yes and diffuse the question. Are he and his handlers really that clueless?

I don't know if I believe your claim specifically, but I agree Trump lies a lot. So your reaction to all those lies is to be more like him?

I linked the whole interview. We are specifically pointing out Trump being out of his mind in this particular interview, which is most of it. It's even in the thread title.

You're squirming because you don't like the thread subject and can't defend Trump's words.

I never purported to defend Trump or his words, as I've made clear in my other comments.

Quite clear because... you cant be bothered to watch it, but you “know” its not true?

Dude.. the whole 37 minutes is a disaster which gets progressively worse.

I can see why you are afraid to watch it, but dont try to pretend you know that its better at some points... its not.

I watched the entire clip about the late Mr. Lewis. I had already watched it before I came to this thread, which is what caused me to respond to it. I pointed out in considerable detail why the OP's characterization of that portion of the interview was dishonest, if not a downright lie. You and the OP have yet to justify that.

After that, what could possibly motivate me to watch more? I find watching Trump talk to be rather nauseating, almost as nauseating as watching people whine about the stupid stuff he says.

I don't know if I believe your claim specifically, but I agree Trump lies a lot. So your reaction to all those lies is to be more like him?

I don't recall lying. I'm linking mainstream news articles noting the wildest moments of the interview.

It was no doubt a very damning and odd interview.

Yeah, that was a doozy. Should have been the first item in the OP (but I'm guessing the OP didn't watch the whole thing, or even read the entire article he simply regurgitated here).

I agree with the OP that what Trump said and his reasons for not honoring Lewis were petty, but it didn't really stand out to me as far as this interview goes. His attitude towards people who have criticized or rebuked him is well known, and his words towards John Jewis were pretty tame by his standards.

Maybe because people like you are quoting it out of context? I don't know, I don't care enough to watch the whole thing, but I saw the part about John Lewis and you definitely cherry-picked.

And before you start calling me names, which I assume is inevitable (but terribly hurtful, so I'd like to avoid it if possible), I'm not defending Trump. I'm just criticizing you.

I'd argue that it allows us to see what happens when he engages with someone who doesn't agree with him on issues and doesn't immediately shut them down or run away.

Appealing to the mysterious 'they tell me,' and go read the mysterious 'books and manuals,' without backing any of it up, smacks of someone who just makes things up and hopes you'll never check them on it.

Could you honestly agree that he did more for blacks than Martin Luther King Jr? Does anyone believe that here?

I quoted the part of your post that was a lie, and for the record, I consider endorsing a lie that someone else told to be the same as lying.

Of course not. Why would you even ask that?

I was responding to your original question about why the interview was a disaster. If I recall correctly, he brought it up there and numerous other times, that 'he's done more for blacks than anyone, except maybe Lincoln.' And he said it with a very serious straight face. Don't you consider comments like that disastrous for him? Especially, with no consideration for MLK. If you are agreeing that comments like that in his interview were pretty disastrous, than I misunderstood you.

I read the entire article and watched the interview twice. I just gave 3 samples I found that stood out, as noted in the OP.

Trump is a big time nutter.

Why is Donald Trump always so fixated on size? He always has to convince us that things are bigger than they really are.

If 3,000 people show up just say 3,000 people showed up. He doesn't have to say 5,000 people showed up.

The dude has some kind of issue.

That was an eye opener---12,000 people at the rally? The fire marshal can't count now?

He's got an issue, is right,, and he's moving farther from reality everyday.

Not really. It's nothing new, and I doubt anyone will change their vote based on statements like that.

Trump is a big time nutter.

We knew that before he got elected. Yet we're all still here. Hell, I probably wouldn't still have my job if he hadn't won.

Asked how history would remember the late civil-rights icon, Trump replied, “I don’t know. I really don’t know. I don’t know John Lewis. He chose not to come to my inauguration. He didn’t come to my State of the Union speech.”

Lol I was wondering where that line taken out of context, sitting on another thread, came from :lamo

TRANSLATION TO ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT CONTEXT:
"I don't know John Lewis. WHY NOT?? Because he wasn't at my inauguration, or my SOTU speech, I did not get a chance to talk with him."

The headline here is how the liberal media cuts up quotes fraudulently and takes them purposely out of context.

What makes this even more difficult to understand is the fact that all he has to do is say yes and diffuse the question. Are he and his handlers really that clueless?

he's a bull in a china shop who never stops talking and people around him just eventually get tired and give up.

But it's a BIG issue. No one has a bigger issue than Donald Trump.

Yeah the country is doing really great right now.

That has nothing to do with history.

"How do you think history will remember John Lewis?"

And then Swan clarifies

"Did you find HIS STORY impressive"

And then Swan has to clarify AGAIN, as Trump appears to have low intelligence through the entire interview:

"Take your relationship with him out of it, do you find his story impressive"

And he flopped with both answers, again. And sweet of you to ignore all his other huge gaffs and lies which made this disastrous interview go viral.

Like hell it is. It's taking too damn long.
I'll be the first to admit that I think time is relative.

Thought had by person at the White House: If you can remember, man, woman, car, camera, TV, you are fit to lead a country and no one has anything to worry about

I was just responding to the first paragraph of the OP, the source completely took Trump out of context

I'll check the second section out, though...

It wasn't taken out of context.

He asked Trump how history will remember Lewis. He then went on his insane inauguration tangent. Twice, even when clarified.

I have no clue how Trump could mess up on such an easy soft-ball subject at the end. You're reaching.
