Students wearing 'MAGA' hats told to leave coffee house

A FOX story designed to rally their base, and instill hatred in their constituents. I wonder what news they omitted today?

Are attacks on free speech something you think is not news worthy then?

Media Truth?

Right wingers who support the authoritarian Trump obviously do NOT like being called out for their support. Tough. They made their bed - not enjoy lying in it.

We need more and more and more and more and more incidents like this slapping down the right wing supporters of a growing racist and fascist mentality in this country.

Why must every idiot feel compelled to call out other idiots they don’t even know on their idiocy? They’re all idiots.

...wait

The coffee shop was a part of the college, and the college did not sanction the girl's behavior. They said that, despite what the girl said, they had no "safe space" in the school. They are looking into why she flipped out like she did. She had no right.

Im guessing some teacher in one or a few of her classes has gotten away with it (or a group meeting that they had) and they havent been caught yet.

OK, so I didn't want to wait while the video finished its ads, then watch to find out:

Who kicked them out of the coffee house? Students? Management? The university? Democrats? Real Republicans?

Whoever they were, they were wrong. We do still have freedom of speech in this country.

Never mind. I found another source that gave the answer here:

So, it was a student volunteer working at a club.

Sounds more like jerks wearing caps with a slogan going into a space that they know will bring conflict, the nerds to the right looking back at the camera are telling. This appears to be a meme at the moment with lots of agent provocateur media wannabes shooting these kinds of 'shock' videos. It got one of them some exposure on Fox News anyway.

Lots of talk about freedom of speech here but, nothing about the responsibility that comes with that.

That MAGA means both "Make America Great Again" AND "Morons Are Governing America" is the best Cosmic Joke of the day for me.

Yes and some need to remind themselves that free speech does not mean freedom from consequences. We reserve the right to ridicule and taunt those that wish to undermine this country and it's freedoms. They need to get used to it or quit wearing those stupid hats.

Well, a private club can discriminate on any basis. Though I do note that a public accommodation is not barred from discriminating against customers on the basis of their speech.

So it really has nothing to do with what you sloppily (intentionally sloppily?) referred to as "gay cake".

I would argue though, there's many MAGA people and venues where they are just as closed minded. For example, would Trump and his supporters be supportive of a group wearing BLM hats at one of his rallies? I would argue Trump is providing a safe space for fringe and hate groups, on the opposite side of the spectrum.

I really don't know what's worse: The intolerance on some university campuses, or from Trump at his large and televised rallies. They both strike me as very dangerous and un-American.

And you're opinion that the school will not act on this, is simply that: your opinion. They stated their policy of free-speech/no safe-space, and will do an investigation, which seems prudent rather than a rush to final judgement.

Increasingly in the UK, Universities are also being treated as a business that is being run for their Customers and which have a corporate image to maintain. It's just the free market doing what it does such that Universities are no longer places that do education for the sake of it, assuming that they ever were anyway.

America too. but we refuse to be honest about it. We also refuse to be honest about how bad they are, and how a lot of folks come out of the university in worse shape than they went in, debt being only one of the reasons.

Not they. Her. The person who objected was one woman, period. She does not represent all university students, all "liberals", all of anything. She's one person who demonstrated she doesn't understand and support the First Amendment.

She is a member of Congress AND works as a Barista? Wow, that is multi-tasking.

One interesting thing about the video is that it seems to start at the point where they are paying for coffee that has been consumed so, my question is what happened before that?

Yes and some need to remind themselves that free speech does not mean freedom from consequences....

Exactly but, it is the freedom from consequences that they want to legislate for.

Sure, they are probably burying something with this but, examining these kinds of things when they arise can lead to something good as well.

You mean to say that expressing an opinion that others may disagree with is not a part of freedom of speech? The one lone student who objected to the hats because they expressed an opinion she didn't like needs to continue to attend classes and learn that the world is a diverse place and not everyone in it agrees with her point of view.

Wait so the fascist is the guy simply wearing the hat, not the people telling that person to leave because they don't like his opinions?

I say let Trump supporters wear their hats wherever they like. It lets me know I should treat them with the same kind of patience and understanding as the people who wear these hats

indeed, suggesting one has a mental condition is very progressive.

I have no idea what that garbled sentence is suppose to mean as a reply to my post that you produced.

I think that people calling other people Nazi's should be restricted the same as shouting "Fire!" in a crowded building. There are people out there who will punch other people for being a Nazi. So for this girl to call someone a Nazi.....

I find it hard to comprehend how someone could get so mad at some random person they dont even know and start treating them like a Nazi just because they are republican. I mean this girl is walking around the world secretly hating republicans this much every day?

*sigh* This is the part of the Left that I hate.
