Special counsel Robert Mueller'''s highly anticipated report handed off to Department of Justice - ABC News

Special counsel Robert Mueller has handed his highly anticipated report off to the Department of Justice.

For nearly two years, Mueller and his team investigated how far the Kremlin went to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, including trying to determine whether any Americans may have helped those efforts.

The investigation is over. Time for Democrats to move along. There is no Russian collusion.

Neal Katyal offers five good rules for reading the released report (whenever that will be):

1. Believe only the text of the Report, not others’ characterizations of it. This White House in particular spins “up” as “down” (like the Nunes documents).

2. Ask what the scope of the Report is. Is it just conspiracy with Russia? Does it include, for example, the campaign finance allegations, where federal SDNY prosecutors have said the President ordered the commission of felonies?

3. Examine whether the Report is limited to criminal acts. Some of the most egregious allegations against Trump, like lying to the American people about his business dealings with Russia before the 2016 election and saying he had no biz in Russia, are not necessarily criminal.

Others, like being beholden to the Kremlin out of self interest, may be. Has Mueller only resolved the latter? If not, expect Congress to be taking all of that up.

4. Ask whether Mueller has actually resolved anything. Has he said there are other avenues to investigate for matters within the scope of his Report, such as a sit-down interview with Trump? Again, Congress may investigate further — but also don’t forget about state prosecutors.

5. Ask yourself, if the American people knew in 2016 what Mueller’s Report says, even if the Report says Mueller won’t indict the President, Trump would have won the election. Does this President have the judgment&transparency appropriate to serve as the nation’s highest official?

Don’t focus on the one-line spin. Focus on the facts, judgments, and limitations in the Mueller Report. And ask yourself, if Trump had just been honest and forthcoming about all of this, we could have spared this long ordeal.

Barr saying he may brief congress on the major findings as early as tomorrow. Also saying a tremendous amount about being transparent and forthcoming.

Perhaps and that is a good thing even if Trump is still a repulsive asshole. Having an asshole for president is still far better than having an asshole that colludes with with an adversary. On the plus side, aren't you glad that a good number of criminals have been uncovered and brought to justice as a result of the investigation?

The investigation is over. Time for Democrats to move along..

....move on to hearing the report. And then on to the half dozen other House, and State criminal, and civil, and fact-finding investigations going on into the corrupt Trump administration.

May we read the report first, or would that be too hyperpartisan for you?

Sounds like a big nothingburger.

Kinda hard to asking people to not "listen to the online spin" what that's exactly what's been fed to us for the last 2 1/2 by the LW media. You guys have been chanting "just wait until Mueller gets done with Trump" and now all your hopes and dreams are being dashed and you're all "I really didn't think Mueller would find anything". Combination of sour grapes and "Who you gonna believe me or your lyin' eyes".

Sounds like a big nothingburger.

Well, with more than 100 criminal charges and 34 indictments and counting that theory is pretty much out the window.

That has got to be the trumpiest post of the last two years.

Nah...."it's a witch hunt, NO COLLUSION!!" ....would be the Trumpiest in my covfefe opinion.

Who is in town? One thing I have taken away from the last two years is because they take a break every time they turn around.

LOL, poor baby, the prize you've been wishing for all these years looks to be a polished turd.

Calling a report that none of us will see til at least tomorrow a "nothingburger" is the trumpiest comment in history.

, . Getting a little testy in the face of disappointment, eh?

Okay well, I guess it's time to hurry up and wait again.

My mind tells me things are about to get very bad for the Trump administration, but my heart says they're getting away.

Yeah you are right...The American people should not hear about the report....LOL.....You sound nervous

Ag Barr has already announced he will release the Barr report explaining what is in the Mueller report on Sunday. This Mueller report could have been completed in a few months. AG Barr will provide the details and we can finally put a rest to this nonsense and hopefully the Democrats can start doing their job.
