Science and Religion, a comparative study [W:222]

How am I lying? On what basis do you make that assertion?

I wonder if you are capable of having that conversation?

Everyone sins...nobody is perfect...not even you...

Science flies men to the moon.

Religion flies planes into buildings.

I indicated that I edited your post my dear so, just calm down with the rage won't you. If all you are is someone who is on a hair trigger just going out of their way to find offence then you will find it but, it seems to me that your OP is the typical platitude I often see from politicised religionists. It thinks that it is deeper than it actually is but, it says nothing about the World and everything about the poster.
Talk about posts that say everything about the poster...
No, sir, you did not indicate that you edited my post. The convention for such an indication is a set of brackets. There are no brackets in your edit of my post. Just words you made up passed off as a post of mine. Your lack of integrity is nauseous, sir. Is this the sort of character militant atheism breeds? Or is this only the sort it attracts?

I want to live right here on the earth, as God purposed when he created Adam and Eve...

"But the meek will possess the earth,
And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.
The righteous will possess the earth,
And they will live forever on it." Psalm 37:11,29
Elvira darling, I admire your passion and faith, but you might as well cite scripture to a troop of monkeys as to this howling pack of militant atheists! ;)

Science flies men to the moon.
And destroys whole cities with a single bomb and gases six million people and napalms villages and pollutes rivers, and so on and so forth.

If you mean that religion is responsible for the destructive nature of man or that the difference between a club and a dirty bomb is meaningless, then we shall have to disagree.
You are trying to read too much into a simple sentence. My point was that science is only a tool and separate from emotions. The blame for creation of a bomb that can kill thousands should be levied at those that wanted to use it. Blaming science for the bomb is down right silly.

Your other point, about "the invention of sin," is more interesting, and there's a chance we might agree, though I would argue that the idea of cosmic transgression is one of the most beneficial ideas that has come down through the ages. :)
The assertion of the existence of sin is fantasy. There is no such thing as sin. Promoting the concept of sin, I argue, has a fallacious effect on the humans that believe in sin existing. Thats to say when you tell people that the default human position is sin, the uneducated easily fall into living as if sin were real.

Mankind could not survive without using science to survive. Food production, medicine, shelters, etc all involve science. The end of science would end humanity.

believing stuff can be good or bad

leaning how things work can be used for good or bad

i can manage the 1st on my own without religion and the 2nd one is why weer not living short lives in Little tribes out in nature so it seems cool even if it can be misused

I'm thinking cure for cancer, and better heart condition management, maybe some kidney/diabetes solutions.

What is your idea of better? Ever use Amazon Prime? It's no cure for cancer, but it's pretty cool.

Good things are visible and comparing more of a good thing is evidently better at first glance. The question of better gets less straightforward, when one begins to think about thst are not better or worse that they would be, because the first thing was made better.

Millions of such things must be compared by milliins of people. What does it help you that something is better that isn't the thing crippling you?

So we are at the center of economic theory, where utility turns into demand and determines allicatiin to find a social welfare optimum, which has as much to do with colloquial use of the words social and welfare as the American luberal has to do with the basic meaning of that word, btw.

Oh dear, you pretended to be on the moral high ground and failed. You no more wanted a conversation about this than any other entitled religionist with a proselytising zealotry does. I called you right.

Like I said, calm down my dear. If you feel that I did not indicate an edit then report me because they are big on that here, if I've done wrong then they will ping me. If this...

'...irrelevance snipped for brevity...'

Is not clear enough for you then you have bigger problems than I can help you with, your 'religion rage' is getting the better of you darling.

Let me help you with your education...

It's like they haven't read the banner of the forum section or have read it and decided to ignore it anyway. Perhaps they feel immune from it?

Trying to converse with the evangelical talibornagain is as mind numbing as conversing with a dead mosquito.

" I know god exists because I'm here. I'm alive. So obviously there no other conclusion to explain it. I can prove it by quoting this bible verse..."

"You don't believe me? Here, read this bible verse and it'll all become perfectly clear to you."

Then it just becomes insanely circular from there on out....more bible verses...

OK, I'll guide you. What is sin?

No guidance needed...unlike you, i understand what sin is...sin is missing the mark of perfection...

"For we all stumble many times. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able to bridle also his whole body." James 3:2

"13 When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried, nor does he himself try anyone.

14 But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire.

15 Then the desire, when it has become fertile,* gives birth to sin; in turn sin, when it has been carried out, brings forth death." James 1:13-15

There are quite a few supreme beings in mythology.

Thank you for proving my point...man was created with an innate desire to worship some thing or some being...

Mindlessly quoting the bible belongs in the religion forum.
