Roy Moore in 2011: Getting rid of amendments after 10th would 'eliminate many problems'

They are doing whatever they have to, to get what they want, which is an animal behavior literally older than humanity itself. That they are willing to do/say anything, scorched earth etc., does make it troublesome, but I think at the end of the day it has only been tolerated to a degree because we all got lazy/comfy. I think the next election people will be woke up ;)

Still, they must have a very poor historical perspective. Don't they remember what happens when they get this bold? The French Revolution did not end well for society's caretakers.

The pendulum will eventually swing back, provided humanity endures, and when it does, it will demolish what they have done.

Pick a term that applies. Racism should be a term reserved to someone that actually crosses that line, not someone who comes close to that line.

You're quibbling over the term rather than defending the implication. This is because there is no defense of the implication that isn't racist.

Of course then there's the reference to Native Americans and Asians as "reds and yellows..."

Nostalgic for the Antebellum Period? Prefers a Constitution where slaves and women knew their place? Reds? Yellows? Sounds like your definition to me. But, yeah, let's reserve "racist" for those lynchers where it can be used correctly. You are being "blindly" obtuse.

Calling someone an offensive, racial slur, doesn't make one a racist.

He said something stupid and your choose to interpret as though it were an coherent dissertation of an amendment by amendment argument of why each one should be done away with.

No adult politician of sound mind would explicitly say they are racist, even if they are obviously racist.

The notion that to identify traits/beliefs of someone *requires* them to tell you explicitly, is dumber than ****ing dumb is dumb.

The corollary that if they are dumb enough to tell you, you still can't determine if it's true/false. Hey I'm not a human! Oops, with stupid-logic, you'll have to believe it, because you know...I explicitly said it! I suspect you know what you're typing is complete nonsense, and you have some other motive for saying such moronic things.

I'm sorry that you can't come up with a suitable word that forces you to go right to racist to describe this moron. I didn't create the definition, but I also don't try to extrapolate for force someone into the term.

Really? So if someone calls a black person 'nigger', that's not racist?

Please detail exactly how that works.

Wanting to allow people to own other human beings based on their skin color isn't racist? Really buddy?

The 13th amendment does not mention skin color. A politician making an off the cuff statement is bound to say something incredibly stupid. If you can get a recording where he explicitly makes that statement about slavery, then I'll be in entire agreement that he is a racist. In the meantime, I'm not interested in being your buddy.

Pick a term to apply to someone who thinks times were good when blacks were slaves, and who would like to see the Amendment freeing the black slaves disappear.

If you can point me to someone who actually said that, I'll review it and get back to you. Moore said something stupid and was trying to reference the 14th and 17th amendments for whatever point he thinks he was making about the structure of government.

Here is an offer. I will not be voting for Moore for Senate, I hope you will join me in that statement.

No, It isn't, but please feel free to pretend otherwise if it's comfy for you.

I pointed to someone who said just that. If you want to pretend he didn't say that, go on ahead. And if you want to pretend repealing the Amendment that freed slaves is going to help the structure of the government, go ahead and do that too. Normal and decent people wouldn't consider the justification of that action.

I wouldn't vote for Moore for dog catcher.

So let me make sure I understand you: if Roy Moore were to call a black person a 'nigger', it wouldn't be racist?

Is that the hill you want to die on? Really?

He didn't say it and you didn't use quotes to indicate that's what he said. I justified no actions, I pointed out that what he was referencing when he made his stupid comment. Why is it so important for him to be a racist, point out the awful things he said without ascribing a very evil intention that he views himself better than someone else because of his race. Normal and decent people use the correct words to point out bad people.

Amazing. You'll twist like a pretzel to justify Moore's words. Probably because you share his opinions.

I in no way justified his words, and you thinking that I share any of his opinions because I'm defending the definition of the word racist; That is a low and petty thing to say. A shame you don't understand the expression that it is possible to disagree without being disagreeable.

Yeah! Let's not use a bad word to describe the guy who uses such gentle and decent words to describe the good old days of slavery and who thinks gay people should be locked up. Let's just say he's a swell guy.

The weather in Alabama tomorrow on election day greatly favors Moore… It's supposed to dip into the teens.

Normal and decent people don't engage in rhetorical and semantic verbal somersaults to avoid the "friendly fire" of holding the leaders of their tribe accountable.

The institution of slavery requires an implicit assumption that the slaves are inherently inferior. That makes those who endorse the institution of slavery racist by your definition.

What does he need to do, put on some black face and lynch some minorities?

I wish you would show up and school a few people on racism.

I think most people could understand, they just have personal worth vested in group identity and ignorance.

Without anything more, you are demonstrating that you don't know the meaning of the word racist.

Look out, guys. It's another dictionary educated sociologist.

If you are going to address others, don’t reply to me. Courtesy and those kinds of niceties.

Just use the right word and I’m sure we will be in agreement, but for now, turn down the stove on your teapot, your emotional whistling is getting boring.

You’re either in denial due your own odd world view or you’re trolling. I haven’t yet decided which..
