Do you think Mitch is going to allow a conviction in the Senate?

What you're saying is that McConnell is possibly the most powerful man in the country. He, and he alone will decide whether Trump remains in office.

The people who are in real trouble are those GOP senators who are up for re-election. If Trump gets even a whiff that a GOP senator is wavering, he will call on his base to primary the incumbent. If they vote to acquit, they will have to answer for that vote in the general election.

That is why McConnell is not allowing any House bills to be discussed, let alone voted on in the senate. He's providing cover for vulnerable senators. If the impeachment comes to the senate, it will take balls of brass to prevent a trial and a vote.

I'm not aware most Americans think President Trump sucks as President.
Perhaps you are unaware.
But the evidence is widely available,
Here, for example
How Popular Is Donald Trump? | FiveThirtyEight

Perhaps this is the thinking of the "many" I referenced?
Well, obviously, if someone disagrees with your political views, the only possible explanation is mental illness on that other person's part.
No way around that.
It's the fatal flaw of democracy — giving a say-so to so many crazies.

LOL

Well, sorry to break it to you, but the opposite of popular isn't, sucks.

Perhaps that's the word and view of the "many" I referenced.

The poll questions are about presidential approval.
It's just the headline which uses popularity as a colloquial stand in.

You could choose accept the fact that most Americans think Trump has done a poor job while in office.
Trump has the largest and most consistent disapproval ratings of any president recorded.

You could also choose to exclude this information from your world view by pretending that the number represent something other than Americans' opinions about Trump's job as President.
You could pretend that the numbers are about "popularity" and that this "popularity" has no connection to Americans' views on Trump's ability as President.

You could chose to apply whatever bias you want to the poll numbers.

Considering the 24/7 dumping on the President from left's MSM propaganda ministries, public perception is quite favorable.

After all, the left believe some social media activity from Russians threw the last Presidential election, so the gullible have proven to be quite moldable.

It seems rather straightforward distinction between approve and disapprove.

The majority of Americans, the ones who disapprove of the job Trump has done, are gullible fools laboring under delusions fostered by a Deep State™ propaganda machine, yes?

It's a poll of public emotions. That's all.

What are the respondent's disapproving of? His style? His policies? His language?

The gullible read into such polls whatever their bias wants to see.

I doubt the Senate will vote to Impeach Trump. That said, the evidence is mounting. There is a chance. Do I think he would resign and leave quietly? Not a chance. Even if he is defeated in 2020, he will leave with the biggest tantrum in history. That's very dangerous, as he and his most unstable cult followers have been talking about revolution.

Now is the time to secure our elections from interference. Does it occur to anyone that Putin's gotta be loving all of this?

Trump said Obama gave "pillows and Sheets". Your defend Obama's strong response to the Russian Invasion saying that he DID provide "military aid".

In the minds of most people, the military does many things, but primarily, they kill people and break things.

NOTHING provided to Ukraine by Obama was designed to or intended to kill people or break things. Equipment that does those two things are what prevent an invading army from invading.

Pillows and sheets may be hyperbolic, bit it is pretty accurate in describing the aid sent. The Ukrainians, stripped of their nuclear deterrent, needed weapons. Obama refused them what they needed.

Of course, Obama also stood by idly while the Russians annexed Crimea, so there was a precedent for abandoning Ukraine and ignoring promises in the Budapest Memorandum.

In addition to the "sheets and Pillows", Obama also sent broken promises. The memorandum was not actually a Treaty, so he wasn't legally obligated to act. As a country we promised. As a country, we broke our promise(s).

Thanks, Obama!

As I said, you are refuted. Nothing you now say changes that. What you said was false and I proved it. Nothing I said was incorrect.

You are not a credible debater. I’ve proved it on other thread. I’ve now proved it again. You are not honest and forthright and have no respect for debate. I will not let disingenuous posters like you get away with it.

My vote was NO, just because Republicans still need Trump. Still I have to say that this might - somehow - change if something serious enough happens. 1% (rich folks) love Trump because of Tax cut and that might motivate Republicans even more (to protect Trump) as being corrupted is just one of the life goals for GOP people. Trump made rich folks happy and supporting Trump is one way to ensure some fancy money from 1%. My advice for US people is that you should think if you can continue living in this situation, how plutocrats can control narratives and use power as they like, when everything is for sale. People can't take BS ad infinitum - they fight or just die off.

They can vote all they want.

67 Senators will not vote to convict.

This is a monumental waste of time. The Democrat-Socialist morons in the House are morons. This is the only thing being proven by Schiff and the other folks riding in his clown car.

Is there any real world evidence that supports anything that Schiff has claimed about anything?

Every time he says he's got the goods, his case collapses, the promised evidence vanishes and Schiff produces another lie from his pac-o-lies.

Among the inveterate liars in Washington DC, Schiff is by far the most prolific and most compulsive. Considering that we're talking about Washington, that is REALLY saying something.

Has this ongoing, repeating sequence of Schiff's outlandish lying escaped your incisive review? I can't wait for Schiff to be called as a witness in the impeachment trial in the Senate, put under oath and then thrown in jail.

Trump committed bribery and extortion

Republican Senators are okay with the POTUS practicing extortion for personal political gain.

Your assessment is understood and accepted as the empty drivel that it is.

Facts are that's the opinion of most Americans about how Trump has been doing in office. You can play semantics with it till your cows come home blue in the face.
My point stands that you think more than half of Americans have some sort of mental incapacity or exceptional gullibility because they disapprove of Trump as president.
As such, your opinions about the "sanity" of the Senate don't carry as much weight as they would otherwise.

You can clutch to whatever you think these polls are suggesting. That's the point used to sell them.

Of course not. Mitch is not interested in justice

Moscow Mitch has sold his soul as part of making a deal with the devil that is Donald Trump. And he has grown to like the smell of sulphur and brimstone.

Sure, at this point Trump would likely survive a senate vote. Nevertheless, if the Dems put on a credible case in front of the entire nation, those individual senators who are up for re-election will have to answer for their votes. Of course I realize that the political fate of a few senators is of no concern to you as long as Trump is acquitted. Good soldiers are expected to die in battle.

And just why would schiff be called as a witness? Was he in on the call with the Ukrainian president? Sounds to me you are suggesting the defendant be allowed to call the prosecutor as a witness for the defense.

Judging by the lie Schiff recited into the record, he either knew nothing of the call or is simply a bold faced liar.

It is very likely that the "whistle blower" spoke with Schiff or members of Schiff staff BEFORE he spoke to the IG. Of course, he was relaying a rumor with no evidence and no accuracy, so this is perfect for Schiff.

In the mechanics of this travesty, Schiff is operating as the investigator. He is playing the role of Ken Starr or Archibald Cox. As such, he is a very important witness in all of this.

Ken Starr delivered a report containing 11 felonies to the Congress and said do what you like. Schiff delivered what? A poetry reading?

Schiff is leading a Lynch mob in the Congress and I think a lot of people would like to see what he's been doing examined out in the light of day.

As the Washington Post says, "Democracy dies in darkness". That is precisely where Schiff has been killing it. WaPo is providing cover for his actions.

Good I'm glad you have an explanation

I can explain many behaviors that are illogical or unfair, damaging or hurtful.

Motivations of Liberals change, but the outcomes of their actions are pretty consistently corrosive.
