Pepper Spray

The pepper is the food, oleoresin capsicum is the chemical that is extracted from peppers that is used in pepper spray.

Coffee beans could be considered a food, so does that mean caffeine is not a chemical?

What chemical are you?

Most Common Effects of Pepper Spray | SABRE

We get lots of questions about pepper sprays, commonly referred to as OC sprays, but more often than not the question is, "what are the effects of pepper spray?"

Here are the Most Common Effects of Pepper Spray:
Swelling of Mucous Membranes of Eyes, Nose & Throat
Nasal & Sinus Discharge
Coughing
Shortness of Breath
Drying of the Eyes
Involuntary Eye Closure
Painful Burning of the Skin
Hyperventilation
Psychological Effects: Fear, Anxiety & Panic
Our experience tells us any combination of these effects can last about 30 minutes. If you do have to use pepper spray, wash your hands with soap and water as soon as possible.

It's important to remember this - all effects are temporary. The major benefit to using pepper spray is it is a non-lethal way to defend yourself and provides you time to escape a dangerous situation.

What is the nutritional value of pepper spray?

Pepper spray is also made from chemicals and gases among other things you purposely ignore.

Lets not ignore anything.

What counts is dissuading the crowd from refusing to disperse as ordered without more bloodshed and looting. BLM and Antifa have had their fun. They have largely erased the gains black America has made under the Trump economy, which is certainly a win for the democrats.

The crowd were lawfully and peacefully protesting when they were assaulted to make way for Cadet Bonespurs' photo op with "A Bible" (not his) in front of a Church he has never attended.

Damn, man, you must have gotten an A+ in Mendacity 101 at Trump University.

Again and slower this time. I never called spray a food. I said the origin of the ingredient is food. So where is the lie?

The manufacturers of the Pepper-balls brag on their website how it's the "most effective chemical" spray.

Oh no, you can't defend the criminal protesters using that fake excuse. The peaceful protestors moved away as Barr himself explained. What was left were the violent thugs that the park police had to deal with. Bar explained that well over 50 cops suffered serious injury. Worse thatn the man who fell back at Buffalo NY in fact.

i do not believe tear gas is made from food.

Tear "gas" generally consists of aerosolized solid or liquid compounds (bromoacetone or xylyl bromide), not gas.[1] Tear gas works by irritating mucous membranes in the eyes, nose, mouth and lungs. It causes crying, sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing, pain in the eyes, and temporary blindness.

Also tear gas is routinely used against American troops by their authority.

If you are going to “pirate” Wikipedia, at least edit out the footnote makings:shrug:

Your attempted thread diversion is noted.
I've still got some wicked pepper spray I got in the 'Grand Tetons'; Moose Village Visitor Center; Costly.
Checked it last year -- sprayed it downwind -- still got a headache.

Look, man, it has been documented that you are a liar. Now you post something without providing a link and you expect people to take your word. Oh, hell no.

Your description above listing the effects of pepper spray are almost identical to the effects of tear gas.

Your non-linked information above clearly states: "The major benefit to using pepper spray is it is a non-lethal way to defend yourself and provides you time to escape a dangerous situation." It says nothing about use on non-violent peaceful protesters, which is how your boy Barr directed it to be used so that Trump could waddle his way over to a photo op.

Who cares?

Rogue Valley is just upset that the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993 banned CS gas specifically but not pepper spray.

Apparently he is not aware that pepper spray, or capsicum spray, is also bear spray. It is not something I would use, but many do. Pepper spray is an effective deterrent against a non-aggressive bear. It is completely ineffective against an aggressive bear, but they usually don't find out that part until they are presented with a Darwin Award.

Apparently he understands the legal definition. It is not normal to call food a chemical.

Indians uses a lot of spices in their food. The Indian military has actually done a lot of research concentrating some of those chemicals for use as military weapons.

Millions of humans eat peppers as a part of their diet.

Yes, and most sensible people avoid touching their eyes after handling them, for good reasons. Stop making excuses; pepper spray may be an organic (food), compound but I suggest you wouldn't enjoy having it sprayed in your face as a concentrate.

The Semantics of 'Tear Gas' Versus 'Pepper Spray' - FactCheck.org

The ONLY difference between something like CS ('tear gas'), and pepper balls/spray is in their chemical constitution. The physiological effects are the same.

Were it intended to be enjoyed it would be composed of chocolate candy.
