Ok, so that Clint Eastwood thing didn't work out very well...

90% of Eastwood's speech was good for taking a jab at the opponent. The only thing blaring wrong was the use of the sexual suggestive phrase to go F yourself for a national general tv audience.

But I already know the replies to this is that there is vulgarity in all the movies and sitcoms. Why yes there is, isn't that just dandy.

I could play the progressive semantics game here and ask you to provide where he actually used the phrase "go f*** yourself" literally...But I won't do that. I will say if that is the only problem that you'd like to feign outrage at, then I would suggest that progressives have much bigger problems than if 82 year old actor icons are making off color jokes for a national audience....

Seems while you're not playing the Progressive semantics game, you are playing the Conservative semantics game as crosscheck didn't say Eastwood actually used the phrase, "go f*** yourself." He said Eastwood used that phrase suggestively. Which of course, Eastwood did.

I don't know about that. It sounds very serious to me. It shocked me.

Really? Why? that the inference was made? Or that in a year where many are witnessing the nastiest campaign ever to be waged by an incumbent in their lifetime that the challenger has a speaker at the convention hit back?

yes.......

No, it's an appropriate answer. I'll trade trade salaries with anyone in those upper tax brackets. They won't trade with me, and I make decent money, let alone a single person who is poor. So, as I said, save the pity party.

You weren't willing to trade all the stuff people generally had to do to accomplish that.

its like saying "I'd love to trade my income with that of Rafa Nadal's"

but with that would be 15 years of practicing in brutal heat hitting millions of tennis balls no matter how crappy you felt etc.

and it still was a silly answer.

Yeah , you're right. F that Mormon family value crap.

I wasn't aware that Eastwood was a Mormon....But apparently you think it fair to use anything you can to distract from Obama's failures....I still say the take away line of the night for Clint..."When you have a guy that doesn't do the job, doesn't do what he promised....It's ok to let him go!"

Maybe you missed the guy who spoke after Eastwood and he boasted about his Mormon church and family values. Just thought it odd to have a warm-up speaker before Romney be a comic from a local strip club. but oh well.

why? because you said so?

Is that sort of a concession you wanted to post something but didn't have a real response? Do you think most of the rich just sort of hit the lottery?

you might actually do some research as to the financial status of people who DID win the lottery and how they are doing 20 years later.

You ignored my point-if you aren't paying top rates you really have no standing to demand those who do pay more.

Actually every American citizen has the same rights.

Actually every American citizen has the same rights.

that is not true at all

children are citizens and do not have the right to contract, to vote, to obtain firearms.

those who have been convicted of certain crimes are still citizens but lose several rights as well

people who are under restraining orders may not have the right of free trial

and I merely mentioned standing or credibility not rights.

I am doing fine 20 years later after I won a big lottery, thank you.

You know darn well I was talking about adult citizens who have equal rights. And even the people you mentioned STARTED WITH EQUAL RIGHTS but lost them due to their own behavior.

To pretend otherwise is to engage in the worst sort of intellectual fraud in an attempt to justify both your tax schemes and stripping people of their voting rights.

I don't know what you were talking about. I know that some citizens do not lawfully have the rights others have. People who live in NYC don't have the same second amendment rights I do. Some gays will claim they don't have the same civil rights that straights have. Some gays in some states will say gays in other states have more rights than they do.

They should use Clinton Eastwords line - him saying it - in an ad. "When a person can't get the job done in 4 years its time to let him go."

Sure I would. You would be mistaken if you think I don't do that kind of work. You have very inaccurate stereotypes running around in that head of yours.

Who is Clinton Eastwords?

It's your liberal label that makes him that way, imho.

You forgot to add imo to your post. You offered no back up at all. I did offer an example of newspeak "slavery is freedom. Read Orwell's "1984" and then you will learn about newspeak.

You were offering an opinion as if it were fact. It was only as you perceived it. Everyone does not think like you.

Don't call me buckeroo.

LOL...

This thread is 50+ pages long and the squealing from the pigs... I mean Libs is hilarious. The 10 minutes of undressing Obama still gets discussed. It's memorable.

He did a masterful job illustrating Obama is empty, incompetent and need be fired. And it made people laugh. That was the biggest piss off for Obama and his buckeroos.

PS. I know Orwell's 1984... strange a lib would be one to attempt to quote from it. Obama's 08 campaign was all about hollowness, deception... Newspeak... something you Socialists are masters of.

One very strong reason that Clint's rambling and rather incoherent talk (can't give it the designation of 'speech') is still being discussed is the fact that it has become a prime image of the present-day GOP: Old, mostly out of touch and white with little understanding of the modern world.

The disconnect from younger Americans the GOP displayed is nicely exemplified by the Twitter account that was established within minutes of Eastwood's talk - @InvisibleObama
