Nfl 2020

Who was right? I was right.

2-2-20
Two tight ends, a legit number one receiver, perhaps the best young slot receiver and a soon to be added RB (draft or FA) are waiting in Tampa.

I doubt Brady wants to go to a losing team. I expect he wants a shot at the big game. I think Tampa is the best fit. It's NFC, two good tight ends, a true #1 WR, a great young slot receiver (Godwin) and a decent defense. Winston threw 30 interceptions last year.

Called it Feb. 2nd in the Superbowl thread.

Dalton is a maybe- I hope the Pats get him because the Bears are rumored to be interested and I sure as hell dont want him in Chicago.

Cam- no way, Belichick prefers pocket passers, not option guys.

belichick likes athletic players. cam would be that guy

cam is such a different personality and belichick is so rigid, i would wonder if they could co-exist, much less be successful

Despite what Kraft says if they had wanted Tom to stay they would have made him a reasonable offer.

agreed

however, kraft delegated contract negotiations with brady to belichick

is tampa willing to pay so much that brady is willing to accept the money and the lack of football success or is it he and belichick have an irreparable animosity?

I heard Bridgewater might go to the Bears.

Tampa has two good tight ends, a legit #1 receiver, an up and coming slot receiver and a decent defense. They also have draft picks to shore up weak positions. All they really need is a RB.

When a QB throws 30 picks, one can't expect much from the team. Tampa is now a contender. If they kept Winston, they'd have to pay him the same; so, really no loss financially for them.

Rumors flying now that Brady is going to TB.. I would have thought LA Chargers.. Being it's LA, and his wife wanted the west coast, or so it was said that's where she wanted to go.. IMO the Chargers would be closer to winning than TB.. But we'll see.

is it that tampa is willing to pay a huge amount or that brady and belichick had an irreparable falling out?
I would bet it is because Bill was looking more for a year to year type deal and Brady is set on playing for at least 3-4 years.

They also have a WEAK offensive line. Part of the reason why Brady signed with Tampa Bay is that he wanted to keep his family safe from covid-19 and away from the west coast and other areas hit hard. Tampa has been a safe haven.

The interior line had a better season than you might have thought. Pro Football Focus actually rated the Bucs interior linemen the 2nd best in the league in 2019 in terms of pass blocking. The Bucs offensive line gave Jameis Winston an average of 2.5 seconds of clean pocket per pass attempt. That’s slightly above average and impressive when you consider the Bucs offense was blitzed 241 times over the course of the season. That was by far the most any team faced in 2019. The next closest was Seattle with 221.

In my opinion, the team’s best offensive linemen this season was a two-way tie between Ali Marpet and Ryan Jensen. Marpet may have been the team’s best run-blocker and in pass-protection was only credited with giving up 2 sacks the whole year. Jensen had a superb second season in Tampa. Starting in all 16 games, he only had 3 penalties all year. He read the opposing team’s front seven well, accurately pointing out where pressure was coming from. Jensen also wasn’t credited with any bad snaps that resulted in a fumble.

The offensive tackles were the weakest part of the O-Line this season. Both struggled in pass-protection and weren’t much better in the run game. Demar ‘Dot’ Dotson had the worst year of his professional career. In his 10th season with the Bucs he looked like a player that lost a step. He was slow off the snap on pass plays and it led to him being beaten too often. He also had the most penalties of all the linemen(10). In fact, he tied as 9th most penalized offensive linemen in the league. It was something that plagued him all year. He wasn’t the only linemen who struggled in this department.

Donovan Smith was the 2nd most penalized linemen on the team and if not for declined penalties, like Dotson he would have been one of the most penalized linemen in the league. It’s unfortunate that Smith had an underwhelming season because when the team resigned him to a 3-year deal this past off-season, they did so hoping he would be one of the better players at his position. He is guaranteed $14.5 million dollars in 2020, so barring any trade we will see him back in a Bucs jersey next season and it will be make or break for him. If he has another lackluster year, the team can release him in the off-season without owing any guaranteed money.
Tampa Bay Season Review: Offensive Line - Bucs Report

Tampa needs a tackle badly and a guard maybe. They have two good tight ends, both catching and blocking.

See that dark red square on the west coast? That's Tampa.

Belichick isn't going to pay a QB who is pushing 43 more than the team would be wise to pay him. It's business. It's about the team, not Brady.

i hear you. however, who is going to QB the pats next season?

They can sign Winston who put up monster numbers with the Bucs. Or Brissett, who will probably traded after the Colts signed Rivers. Andy Dalton, Cam Newton, and perhaps Stafford are options.

Winston throwing 30 picks with the Pats would be great.

Bridgewater to the Panthers, Brady to the Bucs, and the NFC South just got a whole lot tougher.

My guess is Dalton.

My mind isn't thinking Dalton, but what do I know? I think if I was BB I would want to start with what I have and move from there because from what I hear they're impressed with Stidham.

Could be. My thinking is he would want someone with game experience. Groom the kid for another year or two.
