Nfl 2020

If Brady went to the Chargers or Raiders it would have been KC and a wild card at best.

His only real chance at another super bowl would have been the Titans IMO. The fact that they passed on him says a lot.

appears the bills and fins have come out to win this season with their team acquisitions
houston went the other direction

Rumor was Miami would be conservative with its 95m cap space. Turns out not. I guess it's Tua or bust now. Washington could draft Tua (#15 pick, Haskins, is not much dead cap especially compared to Smith), so it'll cost Miami 5 and probably 18 and maybe a fourth.

you think the panthers might grab him at 7?

I heard that he chose TB to be close to his son. Also he gets to be in charge of the offense.

He gets a say in roster and play calling. I think that's good for a team given Brady's experience. I expect they'll draft a left tackle and then defense. They have a crappy tackle that's $14m guaranteed. I guess he plays.

He was cleared for all football activity last week. Since Washington opened for business, he goes 2 and perhaps to Washington.

The problem with trading for #2 is Washington wouldn't want to trade out of Chase Young, who will be gone at #3 to Detroit if Wash trades to a Tua pick.

Miami needs to trade to 3 and then 2. It's only a little extra to go from 3 to 2 because Wash gets Young.

2002 Superbowl was their last playoff win.

They have a team. Solid interior offensive line. Two blocking and catching tight ends. A legit #1 receiver. A good slot receiver. A decent defense. Winston threw 30 picks. That will sink any team.

All they need is a tackle or two, a RB and maybe a little defense. They have picks and plenty of cap space (80m before Brady).

The Superbowl is in Tampa this year. Brady could win a ring at his home stadium.

Tampa could spend some of that cap to keep Winston on the bench for two years (maybe 10m/y because no one is making him offers) and perhaps emerge from the experience a franchise QB (with the help of lasik). The puts a post-Brady plan in place immediately.

The Brady of 10 years ago, yeah TB would be an NFC favorite.. The 43 YO Brady? I don't see it.

Well if Brady gets a say on drafting then it wont be good for the defense. He'll want every pick on offense.

Doesnt appear that there was a significant drop off in HIS play last year. the team struggled and it was obviously frustrating to Brady, but his play wasnt the cause.

Brady physically is still at the very LEAST a top 10 QB (If you disagree, can you cite 10 better active QBs?). Mentally...psychologically...he is still the best in the game. There's no reason to believe that the Bucs, with the talent they have and a QB NOT throwing more pics than TDs, cant at LEAST make the playoffs.

He has the #2 interior offensive line and 2.5 seconds per pass attempt (above average, I heard #10) despite the most blitzes against in the league. He has two bum tackles, one guaranteed 14m this year. He has two TEs that are both good at both blocking and passing. #1 receiver is top tier. Slot receiver is top tier.

He needs one tackle (gotta play the 14m bum), a RB and a #2 receiver. That's only 3 guys and they still, after Brady, have 50m in cap space for free agency.

They could draft those 3 and spend the 50m on defense, or best available in the draft and buy the remaining offensive players (after taking tackle first).

IIRC with this new CBA signed it means 2 more playoff teams this coming season. So I'm not going to say yes or no if TB makes the playoffs. Hell almost 1/2 the teams will make it now.

But still the fact is TB(the team) has a history of being bad, TB the QB will be 43 YO's. If he went to a good team, like Peyton went to Denver, then yeah I can see TB making the SB.. But Tampa isn't,IMO, close to a SB team, they haven't even made the playoffs forever, and even Brady won't put them over the top. Not at 43.

Denver was ready for any QB and only needed (and won with) a game manager. Same with Tampa. It's about upgrading to top tier game managers. The other players are already in place. If Winston threw 20 instead of 30 picks last year, they make the playoffs. With only 10, they go deep.

You talk a lot about the Bucs, but that has nothing to do with Brady or Brady's age. His age isnt relevant to his ability, and I dont see you refuting his status as a top 10 QB with plenty of additional upside.

The Bucs werent 'bad' last year...they just lacked leadership...especially at the QB position. Winston has all the physical ability in the world...but he has a gap in his headspace. They last several very close games. The talent is there...so it will be interesting to see what they do with a Champions mindset at QB.

Mindset my ass. Winston needed eye surgery and threw 30 picks. How many picks do you expect Brady to throw. Two less per game? How many additional wins is that?

Denver had a top 3 defense. TB doesn't, IMO.. Brady will be a 'field general', and he won't throw 30 Ints. But I don't think they have any part of their team that's dominant to carry a 43YO QB like Denvers D carried Peyton..

The question is even if Brady is still top 10 will that be enough to put TB over the top? Do I still think he's top ten? Around 9-10 sounds about right..

I would say 6-7, but your ranking of 9-10 is good enough for me. That means the Bucs will have a top 10 QB that isnt prone to the mistakes made by Winston with a solid team and a whole new mindset. You already acknowledge the playoffs are realistic...so really now its just a question of talent moves. I cant imagine TB goes after TB without a plan to invest resources to win a championship.

We'll see though.

OT is drafted #14. There are four top tier tackles and a 1a guy. They get one, the only question is which. They could trade up a bit if they like one, since they kinda need a Left with a 14m bum playing the other tackle position.

RB is easy in the draft and FA. Both markets are good. Could take one or two 3 - 5. Brady has never had a consistent great RB. Signing a back in FA would be cheap in case the rookie doesn't work out. Lots of prospects day 3.

WR Evans and Godwin are more than Brady has had on average over his career. He's had Edleman and Welker and other mediocre receivers that he elevated to great receivers. I hear Watson is not a terrible #2. Could draft one 2 - 5. It's a good class of receivers.

TE, he's living the dream. Two big guys and they're field tested.

Offense done.

Picks 2 - 5 could include 2 offensive players, as above. That leaves one for defense, perhaps round 2. They have 50 in cap for FA. They can sign four defenders for 10m this year. That's 5 defensive starters if their draft pick starts.

Where do you see an inability to upgrade the defense? FA has only just begun.

Winston was a big disappointment. 30 Ints is ridiculous. But at least he could move. Brady, like most QB's when pressured isn't as good, and obviously he is not mobile.. And at 43, the most important part of TB team might be the offensive line..

Don't forget my Cards in that discussion.

Line is definitely important and they have at least one hole to fill at tackle from what i read, but Brady's strength has been the ability to read and get the ball out quick. Still think 43 isnt much of a problem for him.

Who in Az has the nude pics of O'Brien? That trade is still a head scratcher..

If Tampa got Hopkins for free, we'd be talking Superbowl. The Cards would have needed to send the 2nd round pick to anyone taking Johnson's 14m guaranteed contract this year. He's a decent receiving back. It's like when the Browns took a QB contract to get draft picks. Johnson and a 2nd is a deal by itself. Hopkins was free. His contract is 3 years 13m/y, which makes it highway robbery.

Maybe someday it will be explained beyond rumors. Gotta give Hopkins credit for not being a diva like many top tier receivers. He's probably the best currently, and we didn't hear nothing.

It's kinda cheating to get him and his contract for free.

Faced with a challenging salary cap situation, the Los Angeles Rams have released running back Todd Gurley and linebacker Clay Matthews, the team announced Thursday.

As Tom Brady continues to hammer out the details of his contract with the Buccaneers, a number of players have reached out to Tampa Bay to express interest in also playing for the team and its new quarterback, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

It's more than the grand theft larceny of the Texans.

Re-sign Larry Fitzgerald
Re-sign D.J. Humphries
Transition tagged Kenyan Drake (not a fan of this move)
Trade for DeAndre Hopkins (awesome!)
Sign Jordan Phillips (good depth move)
Sign Devon Kennard (awesome!)
Sign De'Vondre Campbell
Got rid of David Johnson's contract (awesome!)

Pretty good.

It would be nice to see Az give Fitz a legit run at a title one last time.
