Nfl 2019

NFL owners voted Tuesday night at the league meeting in Phoenix to allow offensive and defensive pass interference penalties, including non-calls, to be subject to challenge and replay review. For the 2019 season, coaches can challenge any flags or missed penalties until the final two minutes, when such instances are subject to booth review only.
... We’re never going to be able to fix everybody’s problems, but again, this is our first attempt at putting a flag on the field for the first time. That’s new
... Owners also voted Tuesday to ban blindside blocks and make permanent kickoff changes that were instituted last year.
NFL replay rule change: Pass interference now can be reviewed

good call by the NFL

You'll always be saddled with the dishonest Cheatriots as your team and I'll always have the classiest team in professional sports as my favourite. I'll take that any day, everyday, win or lose on the field.

The Steelers are a clown show.

Former Steelers TE Jesse James left for the Lions called his former team the Kardashians and couldn't get away fast enough from the drama in Pittsburgh.

Numerous former Steelers have bashed Big Ben's leadership - Josh Harris, Ryan Clark, Emanuel Sanders, Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, James Harrison, Joey Porter, etc... etc..There is probably a lot more names.

Do you want to know all the players that have criticized Tom Brady? Name me 1 player, just 1.

Most of us arent Patriots 'fans'. Im a Broncos fan...b.

Uh-huh. Yet you never discuss the Broncos in any of your posts in this thread. A textbook bandwagon Pats fan.

As far as hating the Patriots goes, decent, honorable people will always hate criminals- the Pats have shown that they are such- they engage in lying, cheating and even their owner has been busted. Anyone who praises or make excuses for such a gang of fools is no better. Looks like we know where you stand, so hey, thats you.

In case you havent noticed....the Broncos havent been giving us much to talk about lately. :lamo

Mind you...they ALSO have won more Super Bowls in the last 10 years than your team has playoff appearances...so...we got that going for us....

Dude you just kicked POS right square in the nads. Ouch.

For 30 or 40 years, being a Dolfan has been rough. At some point one stops counting decades. Sure there was that one Superbowl (I was a Raiders fan back then) and Clayton Duper. Most people here were born after that. There were defenses along the way, but playoffs have always been an embarrassment. Still there's one time of year when it's not so bad. The off-season. People are talking ****. Trolling, flaming, homering. So I just got two words. And you know what they are.

Hmmmmmm???? He quits 2 months after being hired? To be with his family? Lets hope that's all it is, but the timing seems very strange.

Greg Schiano steps down from Patriots coaching staff

The Greg Schiano era in Foxborough didn't last long.

Schiano announced on Thursday afternoon that he was stepping down from his role on the New England Patriots' coaching staff.

"I have informed Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick that I am stepping down from my position at the Patriots," the de facto defensive coordinator said in a statement released by the team. "This is not the result of any one event, but rather a realization that I need to spend more time on my faith and family. I don't want to look back years from now and wish I had done things differently. Therefore, I am taking time away from the game to recalibrate my priorities."

"I respect Coach Schiano greatly and appreciate his contributions to our staff and team," Patriots coach Bill Belichick added. "He is a friend who we support completely."

Schiano was reportedly hired in February to replace the departed Brian Flores on New England's coaching staff. Flores, the Patriots' defensive playcaller last season, took the head coaching job with the Miami Dolphins.

A former Rutgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach, Schiano had spent the last three years as an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Ohio State under Urban Meyer.

If his wife and children remained in Ohio while he was getting installed with the Patriots in Massachusetts, or that they did not want to leave because his children's education than it is logical that a man would feel he is giving up too much time with his loved ones if he is in Massachusetts and they are not there. That is a scenario I could understand.

I guess he figured out the real truth about them right away lol.

Yeah, that might be it... Just seems strange that 2 months after he's hired, and during the off-season he suddenly realizes he needs to spend more time with his family.

The patriots only need 1 coach on defense. Currently they only had one listed, the hc's son as a secondary coach.

Belichek's son is a coach now? I knew it- they go from cheating and prostitution rings to nepotism.

I have no idea who this guy is, and I hope he's telling the truth on why he resigned after only 2 months.

But the word in his statement that caught my eye was 'faith'. He's leaving to 'spend more time on faith and family'.

Lets face it, when a public figure suddenly finds religion that usually means he's F'ed up and the **** is about to hit the fan.

Nonsense.

The Patriots don't follow trends or groupthink. They hire innovative people. Steve Belichick was a rugby player in college. Also a long snapper. The Patriots think outside the box. Matt Patricia was studying to be a rocket scientist.

Steve Belichick was a db coach last year. Did a great job with the safties last year.

Or he was caught cheating (and not the football kind).

Yes, that was one of the 'f'ed up' I was referring to. Of course there are plenty of others too.

A fairly young guy.. Seems like he's be in football most of his life.. All of a sudden he quits to find his 'faith'. I may be cynical but that sends up all sorts of red flags, IMO..

Ah yes.

I was with you here.

And then lost you here. Ben is anything but an angel. I certainly wouldn't call him classy. He's anything but. And then your coach cheated. Albeit a one off.

Difference, in my view, is that both Roethlisberger and Tomlin, leaders of the Steelers on the field and off, took their NFL punishment like men, accepting the decision of the league to discipline them, and apologized to their team and fans for their indiscretions. Can you name a single time when the leaders of the Cheatriots accepted, let alone admitted and apologized for their indiscretions? In every case, the Cheatriots claim they did nothing wrong and fight the league's discipline.

As for Roethlisberger, I've never claimed he was/is an "angel". But let's remember he admitted his behavior was unacceptable, took ownership of his behavior, and has worked to be a better man, a better person, a good husband and father, and a leader of his team. The Rooney family saw the good in the man and didn't abandon him and their faith in him has been rewarded going forward and the team is in discussions with him to give him a contract extension.

He was accused of rape. Apologies do not excuse of forgive the heinous nature of that crime.

accused
but never convicted, if i recall correctly
have we lowered the bar such that allegation of rape is now disqualifying for an NFL athlete?

It will be nice when they are playing again so there is real football stuff to talk about....

There is a saying in the United States. It is better to be rich and guilty vs poor and innocent.

Big Ben won't be confused with an intellectual. This is a man that said "You're just more free when you're out there and there's no helmet on," in reference for him not wearing a helmet when riding a motorcycle.
