ashamed to admit it took a while before i was able to figure out the basis for the dog's name

helped a Montagnard refugee learn some english expressions; his name was [phonetically] "Khan Doh"
not an easy name for me to recall until months later when my wife referred to him as the guy whose name sounded like "condo"

Glad you settled on a name, the one you choose yourself is usually the best. Thank you for adopting a rescue, they always seem to know they have been rescued and make loving family dogs. Some suggestions: Make sure you have your own vet give him a good physical, pet stores have wipes and solution to help clean up "tear stains" - not for in the eyes but to clean up under them.

Also, from the picture it seems a visit to a groomer would be welcome, many pet stores have them on-site or your vet can suggest some I am sure. Dogs require care and in return give you unconditional love and comfort.

So, my family picked up a new dog today from the shelter. He is half-Maltese and half-Poodle. He is such a cutie. Problem is, we don't have a name for him yet. So I thought I might start a thread about it and ask you guys. I was thinking Max, but I dunno. Any ideas on what this little guy's name should be?

Max is the most common pet name ever. Read that somewhere, with my cat, Max, on my lap, lol! I tend to name pets based on personality traits. I had a lhasa apso mix named Alfie, who was adorable. Your little guy kinda strikes me as a Puffin, based on the picture alone. Since he was rescued into such a loving family, Lucky would be a great choice too!
