Multiple patients on hospital ship test positive for COVID-19

Patients onboard the Navy’s hospital ship Comfort tested positive for COVID-19 after being transferred Friday from a facility in New York City, Fox News first reported.

The ship, which arrived with a mission of treating non-COVID patients to alleviate the burden on the city’s increasingly overflowing hospitals, accepted “less than five” patients who were infected, officials told Fox News. Initial screenings prior to boarding the ship did not reveal that the patients had contracted the virus.

The Navy previously confirmed its screening process for boarding the hospital ship — one instituted in accordance to CDC guidance — consists only of a temperature check and “a series of questions addressing [the] member’s recent health and contact history.”

Looks like inadequate testing allowed COVID-19-infected patients to be brought aboard the USNS Comfort in New York harbor.

Well **** me, I guess this is Trump's fault as well...right?

Your guess is as good as mine as how to fix that now, do you quarantine the entire ship now, no matter what?

That's why it was a good idea not to rush it.

Should we ever expect the "experts" in charge to be named? Like so many things left up to government assigned (certified?) "experts", the steeple suffer and the "experts" (and those who certified them) remain unnamed and thus unaccountable. Perhaps we should refer to them as heroes and give them raises and promotions.

Things must be rushed during a government declared crisis - the part that we can be sure will take some time (if it is ever done at all) is to hold anyone (except Trump) accountable.

Apparently even the hospital ship did not have a test to test patients and get back accurate in a timely manner.

So sad for all.

This Is an novel virus and every caution must be taken before a patient is concided free of the virus.

You're the first person to mention Trump, so you tell me.

I place the blame on the facility that sent those patients to the ship. They obviously weren't following the rules. (if there are even any rules established)

Which is what Democrats wanted, so you're happy now?

Right?

Happy?

You were complaining that there weren't enough patients onboard. I guess your wish will be granted.

They needed one of the test kits that gives the results in 15 minutes.

That way they could test before allowing anyone board.

I can’t believe how far behind the United States is with lab testing for the Cornavirus.

Who isn't shocked, shocked you blamed the people furthest removed from Trump?! I know I am!

The 'experts' in the first story I read about this said it wasn't going to be possible to keep the ship free of CV19 patients, because it's so widespread in NYC and the fact that someone just infected won't test positive, and symptoms often take days to emerge. If the patients first went to hospitals riddled with CV19 patients, it's a good chance to be infected at that point. Etc.

OK, then why was that ship sent to NYC with the assurance that it would not take COVID-19 patients? If COVID-19 testing requires a delay of X days (after being placed in isolation/quarantine) and then a re-test then so be it.

Did you ever think that when the ship had virus patients on board they stopped excepting any other patients until the infected patients were relocated, the staff was tested and they can be sure to have acute tests before letting any new patients on the ship?
