McConnell says Trump will sign funding bill, declare a national emergency

While we're giving Trump his deserved criticism, remember to save some back for McConnell's cowardice.

No kidding.

Easy to compare...Most "Undocumented workers" don't commit any crimes...They certainly haven't gone on a gun nut rampage like so many angry white men have

Most "illegal immigrants" have fake identities making it more difficult to catch them. The cumulative carnage they have caused far outweighs a few random shootings.

When the voted to fund it? Or do you think it just happened on it's own?

I know what Trump said, in stump speeches, I also know what he said in interviews, show me in policy where it's 1000 miles of concrete.....show me where that has made it to paper, you won't be able to, it hasn't. Anyone who thinks that Trump meant 1,000 miles coast to coast, 30 feet tall etc so on and so forth, should probably be restrained from buying bridges.

Those are stump speech words, not policy, show me policy, the only thing that MATTERS, is policy.

The wall Mexico is paying for?

You need to answer my question. When did the Democrats agree that Trump's proposed wall was necessary. You do realize that what funding they approved isn't for Trump's big beautiful wall with the big beautiful door, right? It isn't for 1000 miles of concrete. It's for about 55 miles of fence. And it isn't the $5.7 billion he demanded (the great negotiator that he is...).

You were expecting this? I thought the whole point was to come to a compromise with congress so that he doesn't throw a tantrum and take egregious executive action...

It's Trump - he's been talking about it. He's going to apparently raid military funding for it.

Lots of them work...work hard....At jobs lazy old white people won't or can't do...Maybe America needs more...Just sayin'

Translation - "I don't know who the illegal immigrants are, but I know they're out all over the place killing Americans left and right! Who cares about a few kiddies getting blown to bits in school."

Potato.

Old white men are retired!

More like the obstructionist Democrat's cowardice. They've failed the country.

I don't understand how you figure this. Dem's haven't any numbers to do anything for quite some time. So sadly misinformed it's pitiful.

What is weak, Hat, is you trying to camouflage the fact that you got caught in a false premise fallacy by trying to pretend that me criticizing the GOP house doesn't count because of the timing. You're digging yourself in even further by assuming that this is the only time I've criticized the GOP House.

The failure is yours.
Jack, I'm not digging myself into anything.

I told you you weren't telling congress to **** itself before the Democrats took power. You tried to disprove it by ignoring the fact A) you weren't telling congress to **** itself before Democrats took power and B) referring to posts posts from 30 days after Democrats took power.

We get it Jack, your reading comprehension is garbage. We have done this before, it's never turned out well for you.

Holy hell, you are like a dog with a bone,

Question, did you actually catch Hatuey saying that Trump's border security policy is based on what Democrats have done in the past? If you didn't, might wanna do that first, because you both can't be right on that, either it is, or it isn't.

As far as Democrats voting to fund barriers/walls/fences/daisies, could care less what you call it, you can dress up with it and call it snowflakes......you said it yourself, there is 700 miles of fencing already built.....democrats voted for that, you realize that right? So, they voted for it before....but now...because it's Trump...and politics in general is more my side vs other side, they are voting against it,

No one on earth, hopefully, believes that it was going to be 1,000 miles of concrete wall, you like to spout that because that's a helluva sound bite, (that's another interesting thought, why are you worried about spouting off sound bites in a message forum)

You are taking his words from a campaign, and stump speech, and using them like they are the be all end all of what was 2 years ago, Let's say holy crap, you were right, he wanted 1,000 miles of concrete wall 50 feet tall, decked with barbed wire and machine guns.....are you saying that he couldn't possibly have deviated from that? That he couldn't have rounded out his thinking and evolved his policy?

Sounds like you are saying that...

The constitution provides the legislature with the power to make legislation, the legislature passed an emergency clause providing the president specific and limited powers which seem to include building barriers on our border. There is no constitutional problem here

What is the legal example of a “emergency”?

September 11 was declared a national emergency by president Bush because An international terrorist organization had turned 4 modern jetliners into human guided suicide craft and leveled two of the largest skyscrapers in New York City, damaged the pentagon, and left a crater in a Pennsylvania field, killing over 3,000 people.

That was an National emergency because we had been attacked!

The swine flu outbreak of 2009 was declared a national emergency by president Obama because that particular strain of H1N1 had become a global pandemic and it posed a threat to people all over the world.

Global pandemics, natural disasters, war.... all of these could be justified as national emergencies because they posed a existential threat to America and its citizens.

Sitting on their fat asses complaining about everything.....America needs the workers...I know your "kind" ain't going to do it

I agree! America does need workers who are here LEGALLY!

I also agree! I ain't gonna do it.

Fake News.

"As a percentage of their respective populations, there were 56 percent fewer criminal convictions of illegal immigrants than of native-born Americans in Texas in 2015,"

Trump doesn't think so. He thinks undocumented workers are great. He hired plenty of them to build and staff and his resorts. Trump knows a good opportunity to take advantage of people when he sees one. Which makes him a ****ing hypocrite.

Is this really going to save the GOP's butt though? What happens after Trump declares the national emergency and the courts block it... another shut down?

WIth a budget passed...isnt that what he's signing?...that threat will go away. So it will just be him throwing his weight around for his legacy, a monument...the wall. And that should take a while in the courts...and I believe he'll fail. IMO that's exactly why they were so transparent with the threat...because his handlers know this and wanted to avoid actually doing it.

But...all history now will record how this goes down after his recorded promises of a wall, paid for by Mexico, and his very public claim that he'd accept all responsibility for any shutdown...so he's pretty motivated to throw his executive weight around to try and save face IMO.

"Trump sees the wall as a monument to himself"

"What I do best in life, I build. ... I want it to be so beautiful because maybe someday they'll call it 'The Trump Wall.' Maybe. If they call this 'The Trump Wall,' it has to be beautiful."

Well let's all be honest...a wall named after him is certainly more appropriate for The Donald than a library.

Trump sees the wall as a monument to himself - CNNPolitics

Things will get interesting now. Ted Cruz was talking about using the El Chapo's seized properties as a way of funding the wall; I think that was in the neighborhood of $14 billion dollars. Where it will get more interesting though is how the continued maintenance and staffing gets funded.

I'm amazed at the people that are willing to take other peoples property for this. What's a little eminent domain among Trump supporters, am I right?

Immigration reform......America needs that more than some stupid wall in the middle of no where...

We certainly do need to expedite things regarding legal immigration and the wall.
