AL Wild Card Game: Rays win gamble on Yandy Diaz with two leadoff homers to sink Sean Manaea and the A's - CBSSports.com

The Diaz homer was the first leadoff home run in Rays playoff history. This is the first leadoff home run in a playoff game since David Freese against Wade Miley in Game 6 of the NLCS last season.

This shot was the start of the Rays' homer- and pitching-fueled victory in Oakland, 5-1, moving them on to the ALDS against the Astros, starting Friday. The Rays haven't been this far since 2013 and they feel dangerous. Diaz is one of the many reasons. You see, he wasn't done.

Next time up, Diaz homered again and it was nearly the exact same:

In a weak division. Houston won 107 and Yanks and TB clearly battled against each other and the BoSox. Twins had Cleveland and Chicago. It's like saying the Pats are great by winning 12 games when 8 come against teams like the Bills, Jets and Dolphins.

Umm, the Bills are 4-1 and have a top 5 defense. They can definitely do some damage, especially if they can trade for AJ Green or Stefan Diggs.

Aníbal had a good start, so this decision was a good one. However, the Nats still have a big problem with relief pitching and it showed right about the top of the 6th inning. It just took the air out of the stadium. Lost opportunities with bases loaded and Kendrick not paying attention to get tagged out between 2nd and 3rd base for a double play were frustrating.
I hope that resting Max and Stras pays off.
 
Wow, Braves scored 3 in the ninth to win yesterday. Hmm...that sure came as a surprise.
 
No sweep for the Astros. Tampa Bay Rays showed spunk today and cruised to 10 - 3 victory!

No one I can think of has told me to expect the Rays to get past the Astros. Game 4 tomorrow 4:15 at Tampa Bay.
