Major League Baseball 2017

Safe to say game 2 is a must win for the astros.

Not really.

[h=3]MLB playoffs: Yankees come back from 2-0 series deficit to beat Indians[/h]https://www.theguardian.com › Sports › MLB

Oct 11, 2017 - Didi Gregorius, following in the October footprints left by Derek Jeter, homered twice off Corey Kluber as the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians 5-2 in Game 5 on Wednesday night to complete their comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the Division Series and dethrone the AL champions.

That's right. It's usually much more humid on the East Coast.

Out West it's called 'dry heat'. But 103 is still f'ing hot. lol

Not a lot of stats for pitcher/batter splits tonight, though Grandal would be starting for me tonight along with Darvish. I see back-to-back LH Starters as problematic for the Dodgers with Hill. Astros relief in front of Giles is their key.

Odds continue to swing to Verlander. Nauert may look like a Homer from his season record but is 2-4 with home dogs at current odds. He also looks like an under ump but only has a 62% strike rate for the season, far behind most WS umps this year who are well over 64% ...

I dont understand why Roberts is going with a 4-man rotation instead of a 3-man rotation.

Somebody please explain this to me :(

Same reason HOU is going with a 4-man rotation. Kershaw's coming off an injury and the Dodger bullpen is outstanding from middle to late relief. MLB has too much invested in these starters to put them out on 3 days rest.

Kershaw will go game 5 and then piggyback him in game 7 on 2 days rest when all is on the line. Maeda is a great piggyback for Hill and Wood, though I still believe in alternating LH to RH Starters in back-to-back games such as tonight with Darvish v. Hill; Hill who I consider their 4th best starter ...

If it were up to me I'd go with 3 starters, not 4.

But then that also explains why I'm not a big league manager, and I'm sitting here typing my expertise on an internet message board.

Seriously though, go with a 3-man rotation.
You have to SHUT the door as quickly as possible

See you soon, Kate.

The Dodgers are a better team than the Astros. But 0-2 doesn't mean the Astros are dead. 86 Mets came back from 0-2. So did the 96 Yankees. Lots of teams have come back from 0-2. 86 Mets did it after losing the 1st 2 at home.

Yankees did it, and they're inferior to the Astros.

Kershaw on 2 days rest piggybacking game 7 would be on his regular 5-day pitching routine, throwing on the 3rd day.

As you wish. I never wager. Casinos are places where people go to give their money away. Lotteries are taxes on stupid people.

With Darvish, Wood and Kershaw at HOU, this game really does look to be a must win for HOU. Verlander had a situation with home plate Nauert 3 years ago, throwing behind the back and not getting ejected, AFTER Norris had been ejected earlier by Nauert.

LAD money is affecting the line towards the Dodgers too much in my book. If I go, I'll take Verlander in 5 innings. Will the game go as fast? MLB is getting good feedback on the shorter game last night.

Continuing on Nauert, he has a very low strike % for an under ump. He does shade the Away Short Fave, which is where I'd have put the line.

However, LAD is more lethal from the left side batting IMHO. If the game is lengthened by all the usual ways, batter vision will improve the 2nd time around the order ...

Whether we agree with it or not, sports betting is why Sports are so popular. Gambling is just another Vice that the World is hooked on, with the U.K. dominating this arena. You can't watch or listen to a Sports Program without the lines coming up.

And yes, it is possible to beat 'The Man'. You've got to do a lot of reading, know your links like weather, injuries, matchups, travel and distractions, and go with your 'feels' without 'Chasing' ...

Sports popularity preceded and is independent of gambling.

I'm not against gambling. I just don't think it's a wise use of my time or money.

Sports and Gambling are both completely Dependent on each other. Office and Newspaper Pools, Fantasy, TV and Radio discussion of Odds; you do get the idea;

Gambling has been with us for centuries on animal fighting. With us since the 1800s on Pro and College Sports, Even in Politics now. Let's face facts Jack; this Nation is one of Vices ...

I'm not arguing about the national character. I can tell you I know many avid sports fans who never gamble.

With your key word being many, not most.

As for your Nats, where do you think they need help in the farm system when they trade one or more of their RH Starters ?

I don't think you can claim "most" any more than I could. We don't have data. We only have anecdotes.
I don't think the Nats will trade away any of their major league RH starters.

I got to agree with Jack here. I'm a big sports fan, I never gambled on sports, or any gambling. I got my vices, gambling isn't 1 of them.We went on a cruise in July, big casino on the ship. I never went in it, not once.

When I worked I'd get in a $10 SB pool, or when I was younger I'd go to Saratoga and blow $75 on the Ponies.. That was about it.

I'm pretty free with my money, but gambling never made sense to me. Especially in a casino. Some guy is smart and good at card counting, but that'snot allowed in casinos? That tells me right there it's all in casino favor. ALL IN THEIR FAVOR. Someone got to be crazy bucking those odds.

Screw that. I'll go to the bar and spend my money on gin and tonics, at least I get something for my money.

Sports book, unless you live in Vegas, is a scam because of the Juice. Basically, 20% on top of all your bets means you have to win nearly 3/4 bets just to break even. Now, that's why gambling on the sly is just plain dumb.

Card sharks and clever high-rollers can do well though. I watched some high-roller guy on YouTube who cleaned house in so many Casinos that they quit inviting him. How did he win? Mostly by pushing odds his way in taking advantage of little things high rollers get. So, instead of taking free drinks and hookers, this guys asked for rule changes in his favor. That pushed things his way, not in the 20% range, like we see with a bookie, just a point here and a point there. But said points allowed him to win a million dollars at one casino.
