Major League Baseball 2017

Dodgers lost yesterday and Roberts said: "Its a weird feeling". Good.

J. Garcia almost got traded to the Twins last night but the trade fell through. The other pitchers on the block from XM Sirius are S. Gray, J. Verlander, L. Lynn, and J. Vargas .

Hmmm. He began his MLB career with the D'backs.

2008-2009 is quite a while ago; the NL West is a tough division for ERA, especially daytime baseball; good comeback by the Nats but a loss;

Braves sure put a dent in Wood's ERA; PIT is hot; Rockies pitching is weak; Nola's good, as MIL found out--they've lost 6 straight and desperately need a leftie like Vargas ;

Luckily, the dodgers losing streak was stopped at 2. Eventually they're going to have a slump. Maybe they're in the beginning of one now. Kershaw on the mound today vs. the Braves. Dodger pitching starting to look shaky.

It's certainly looking shaky now that Kershaw had to leave the game today.

Hurt his back after two straight walks--great game tonight with the Redbirds .

They're buying. 9 days until trading deadline. Gray, Lynn and Verlander are available RH starters; Vargas and Garcia lefties that they might need with Kershaw's back.

Great teams win close games after getting blown out. Blow outs are actually good because you get it out of your system and don't sweat how you could have won a close one, as the Braves are doing after last night .

LA may be buying. The management has learned their is no such as too much pitching. Barnes just whacked a three run home. Go blue!

With Kershaw's back, they're definitely buying.

Meanwhile, Strasburg was pulled after 2 innings with 51 pitches---'apparent injury' is all they're saying so far, Glassburg

I think he's ill, not injured.

I've got the game right now on freebaseballradio; great play-by-play Nats guy; Tanner was awesome last night; they left Grace in too long ;

Maddon is too ****en smart for his team's own good. Hendrick's first start back after injury, 4 scoreless innings and 70+ pitches;

should have pulled him for a pinch-hitter with man on 2nd in the 4th; Abreu knocks in a run in the fifth to tie the game after a single in the first; Miguel Gonzales pitching great for the White Sox;

Maddon had a history of ****ing up arms in Tampa Bay; plus he starts off great and tails off;

Dodgers are after Gray, then Lynn, then Verlander in that order; lefties available are Vargas and Garcia ;

Sphincter tightening moment.

Yeah. If it's just 4 weeks, no worries. But, if it stretches into September or, heaven forbid, October... :eek:

The blue has a stable of good starting pitchers. Can they keep enough of them healthy is the issue? I do think they will need to trade. Toles and Willie Calhoun should pull any of the better pitchers out there for the Dodgers.

Everyone in LA is talking about Darvish - the issue is if they're willing to give up a top prospect.

I don't know why you guys aren't going after Sonny Gray or Lance Lynn. As for prospects, that's the name of the game right now. White Sox gave up 4 name players but got 10 of the top 68 prospects in baseball back .

Dodgers will give Calhoun up now that Taylor, Hernandez, Utley, and Forsythe can cover second, first, third, short, left, and center.

You guys are already the #1 seed in the NL unless you collapse and the Nats catch fire. Nats have their own problems with Strasburg, as he described it as 'forearm achiness'.

Playing with no pressure is sometimes bad for the playoffs, though it didn't hurt the Cubs last year. They're not the same team on offense though right now; they were lucky to get Quintana, but paid for it with 4 prospects, including #5.

For pitching, watch Cleveland and Houston as buyers in the AL. Washington isn't done yet either. Milwaukee is desperate for pitching .

. . . . Rizzo and the Nationals have not wanted to part with top prospects Erick Fedde, Juan Soto, Victor Robles and Carter Kieboom. Any deal for another late-inning stalwart would probably require one of them, or at least a combination of second-tier prospects. But the Nationals still seem more likely to part with a package like that for a reliever than a starter, an interim outfielder, or anyone else — at least at the moment.
With a week until the trade deadline, the Nationals are not necessarily done. But while injuries have perforated all aspects of their roster, they do not currently see a need for outside reinforcements at all those positions. As long as their rotation does not take any more blows, it seems they feel they have plenty of internal reinforcements at every position except in the bullpen, and that health will restore their strength everywhere else soon enough.

I can't say Sonny Gray or Lance Lynn enough times, even for your Nats. Tanner looks like he's back but you still need another starter with Strasburg potentially out and Ross long gone. I'll check the minor league stars of those 4 prospects.

I think you're just fine with a bullpen by committee. Madson and Doolittle just needed a new uniform. They're studs. The rest of the relievers will improve with less pressure.

I would agree on the outfield, with Eaton out. And, Turner will be starting spring training all over again. I saw him as inconsistent before he got hurt .

Rizzo likes doing business with Oakland.

The LA Dodgers should go after Yu Darvish. They have a legitimate chance of winning the WS and Yu could put them over the top.

As for my Yankees, they should stand pat. The Yankees will be ready for their blitzkrieg offseason when they land Kershaw, Machado, and Harper.

The only thing the Yankees should be doing is finding cheap veterans or trying to dangle Jacoby Ellsbury for another bad contract - Verlander, Zimmerman, Cueto?
