Major League Baseball 2017

are you cool with 1 for 20?

Aaron Judge is a young man still learning the game.

He also has to deal with something that Bonds, Ruth, Hank Aaron, etc... didn't have to deal with. Since Judge is so tall, a lot of low pitches are called strikes against him.

I am not blaming the umpires, however, being tall hurts your game in the playoffs as a hitter.

Threegoofs included this one, but it was great fun:

San Diego Magazine

That was not fun.

It was character building.

I remember the series well. I watched the end from a bar in Northern Wisconsin with my brothers, and it cemented my underlying hate for Steve Garvey and a realization that the key to happiness is low expectations.

Well, we sure know the Nationals are serial failures!

The Expos were founded in 1969. The Expos/Nats have been in existence 48 years. If they continue without a championship for 60 more years then they will match the Cubs in failure.

Nashville is a natural. Not only would it pull in all of TN, but also include Louisville, Lexington and the rest of KY, plus probably 50% of WV and western VA and half of NC, SC and Alabama. Also add in a good chunk of Arkansas, Southern Illinois and Northern GA for good measure.

Vegas is also the obvious choice, but MLB has a gambling monkey on its back. So, maybe not so fast is the right call. SA, TX is perfect because of the Latino factor.

Speaking of gambling monkeys on their back, that would be the NFL by definition, at 70 to 80 percent of the Nevada 'take' last I checked. So, we don't legalize sports gambling at all the casinos in America to decrease the black market and increase tax receipts throughout the economy.

Didn't think of Mexico City, though I can just hear the politics now. Yes, TEN would be a natural.

And build me a bridge over the Ohio R. connecting Illinois 1 to Kentucky 91, deep in the heart of poor Appalachian type trump country. They have no outlet in IL to get to all of the natural resources of the Shawnee Nat'l Forest. Prime baseball bat and other wood area, plus solar fields ...

And move the White Sox to s trailer park in Arkansas.

And the Cubs are barely a 5-inning team right now, needing a huge outing from Hendricks with the wind projected to blow out to left center. With that, I still hope they at least extend the Dodger's series ...

Odd... I didn’t even comment on the Cubs.

Ohhhhhh.....a White Sox fan! One of the proud and few. My condolences.

Sigh,

Dellin Betances has lost it mentally. He may have the yips like Rick Ankiel.

Four-time All-star. Sadly, they need to remove him from the roster.

While I spoke respectfully of the Cubs to you, you continue calling the White Sox a trailer park team that belongs in Arkansas while sending your condolences to White Sox fans; proving once again how difficult it is to cheer for the Cubs ...

Priorities:

Move the D-Rays to a different city on the east coast

Move the Oakland Athletics to a different city on the west coast

After that, we should discuss expansion.

KC to Vegas; A's to Portland, and Rays to Nashville.

Hard to believe that there is no bridge from Puducah clear up to the road that goes to Harrisburg. What is that, 100 miles?

You’re correct.

I apologize. I shouldn’t make fun of Arkansas or trailer parks. It’s not right.

but to be fair, had it not been invented in arkansas, what we use daily would be known as a teethbrush

I messed up the original post on TEN. All of these ideas are certainly 'floats'. Give two wild cards plus 4 division winners; they now play 66 games against 10 teams in their league, 76 in the division; and 20 interleague;

32 teams could give 3 by 19 in division as now; 12 by 6 in league; and 25 IL to give 154 and buy an extra week; I like the 2 by 2 with IL rivals; then always play the other 3 by 3 in that IL division for rivalries; rotate the other 3 IL divisions with 12 games as is now done; 2 of 3 for WC series and 4 of 7 for the LDS, LCS and WS.

Vegas has the AAA 51s and is now getting the NFL; One step at a time, now that they also have the NHL. I see SLC making more sense in the AL since the AL really has only 3 teams in the two western time zones. AL should get thin air to hit in too, like COL.

I see enough pitching depth in MLB to expand by two teams; good rivalries for TEN in the NL with CIN, MIA and ATL; TEN would be good with SL also inter division, with SL never splitting from CHC;

PHL--WSH---NYM--PIT; ATL--MIA--CIN--TEN; CHC--MIL--SL--COL; SD--LAD--SF--AZ;

AL could be LAA--SEA--OAK--SLC; HOU--TEX--KC--TB; CHW--DET--CLE--MIN; NYY--TOR--BOS--BAL;

Lots of possibilities ...

Record season for home runs, pitchers are getting hurt more now than ever and you see pitching depth?

All the the pro leagues are too big already. The NFL needs to drop about 4 teams, Baseball probably 2, NBA needs to drop at least 6 probably 8

The key word being 'enough'. Look at the Nats returning starters. Stras, Scherzer, Gio, Roark, Ross, Cole, Fedde, Grace; and relief of Doo, Mad, Kintz, Albers, Romero, Perez, Solis, etc. Not bad to draft from, just from one team.

We had 16 teams with 100 million people and no minorities playing, a real crying shame right there. With well over 300 million, we can easily support 32 teams with both fans and players, especially those players from South of the USA and from the Far East.

We're hearing more and more about a tighter ball with different seams, with the ball harder to grip. HRs and foul balls are barely making the seats when they didn't last year, IMO. Foul balls are all the rage, dontchaknow ?

TEN makes too much sense for MLB expansion ...

KC to Vegas; A's to Portland, and Rays to Nashville.

KC isn't going anywhere; they're a successful regional team like the Twins and Rockies, for instance; let Vegas make a come back with the NHL and NFL first; Northern California Athletics could work, as with the NBA and NHL;

Nashville would be a great regional team, especially in expansion; I like the Mexico City talk but the thin air, travel and politics could be potential stumbling blocks; only 8 of 30 teams in the Mountain and Pacific time zones isn't enough ...

Hard to believe that there is no bridge from Puducah clear up to the road that goes to Harrisburg. What is that, 100 miles?

A certain KY Senator has even blocked redoing dangerous bridges from KY to OH, let alone build new ones to far southern IL and trump country. This whole Ohio R. complex is desperate for infrastructure type projects, especially with their opioid crisis. Infrastructure for Sports has always been a winner. That's why TEN makes so much sense for MLB expansion ...

Well, my Orioles sucked ass this year, but the Washington Nationals have been a World Series contender for like the past 5 years, and every year they choke. At least there is some solace.

MC is on Central Time.

Maybe if White Sox fans actually went to the games they'd get a bit more respect.

I've never gotten the animosity between AL and NL fans with teams in the same locale; probably because my Dad moved around in the Air Force; SF and SL as a kid; Chicago area since 1966;

Boston with the Red Sox and the old Braves--that from my Dad from Maine--an NL fan like me--he followed the Braves to Milwaukee and Atlanta--stationed in Richmond with the AAA Braves;

Canada with the Jays and Expos; you with the Nats and O's; too many in Chicago with the Cubs and Sox; New York with the Mets and Yanks; probably SF and OAK; LAD and LAA; the old NY with the Yanks, Dodgers and Giants; probably Florida; Indians and Reds; I'm sure I've missed a few;

Could this increase in animosity be because of interleague play? I certainly want the Cubs to win as a Sox fan. I've been against the Dodgers all these years except the WS due to living in the SF area with Willie Mays, though Koufax, Drysdale, Podres and Osteen were special.

I'm a Chicago fan. I'm an NL fan despite being a Sox fan. Our hopes lie in one of the best farm systems in MLB, at least at the top, after trading away all the talent like Sale.

And I can root for HOU against LAD because they play like an NL team, which they were of course until recently ...

Try addressing the 'trailer park' reference. That moronic nonsense doesn't belong in the sports forum ...

What does playing like an NL team mean? The astros had the 2nd most HRs and near the bottom of the league in SHs. That looks like an AL team to me :shrug:

Minute Maid is certainly not a pitcher's park. Your love of the Rangers is showing. The Astros are geared to beat an NL team in the WS better than the rest of the AL, though they still have to clear the Yanks.

Wind out tonight but really out tomorrow night in Chicago for late night baseball. Wind was gently out for NYY today, same tomorrow, but early start time hurt vision and will again tomorrow ...
