Neither a criminal nor a cop can shoot people without justification. However, criminals should be aware that the courts tend to show more favor towards shooters who are fighting criminal violence than they do towards shooters who are fighting those seeking to stop criminal violence.

Look, cabse5, your point is well-taken. Everyone agrees that responding to violence with more violence is unfortunate and usually counterproductive. But let's not equivocate about this. What is happening right now is the inevitable result of institutional and individual racism that African-Americans (like me) have been living with for our entire lives. What you are condemning is the REACTION, not the inciting action. The ACTION was ANOTHER murder of an unarmed black person at the hands of the police. What we're seeing today is the result of that, and everything that followed.

There would be no protests across the country right now....there would be no riots anywhere....if African-Americans were not being abused and killed by police all over this country for the last 140 years (since the end of Reconstruction).

It is a discouraging FACT that a black man in America has a 1 in 1000 chance of being killed by a police officer. That's about 25,000 times greater than my (or your) chances of winning the lottery...and yet people play the lottery all the time. The probability of me or my sons being killed by police violence is greater than my risk of dying from a stroke...and about the same as my risk of dying from cancer.

And this isn't new. It's not as if police violence against African-Americans has gotten worse in recent years. Let's be clear also about this: Racism in America isn't getting worse, it's just being filmed now. The only thing distinguishing George Floyd from thousands of other black men (and women) who have died at the hands of the police is that Floyd's murder was recorded on cell phone video. Without that cell phone video, this would be just another case of white people believing the police report and black people believing the witnesses and family members.

At some point, enough is enough.

Your enough is enough is bigotry of cops and I'm not the slightest concerned with a gathering of bigoted rioters against cops any more than I'm concerned with a gathering of racist rioters.

Man, at some point, you're gonna have to realize that cops aren't all out to kill you. At some point, you're gonna have to realize your attitude towards cops puts you into a bad situation with cops when you meet up with cops. WHY?

Many reasons, IMO. (1)The bind social distancing has put on everyone.(2)The bigots who think all cops are like the cop in Minneapolis or the bigots who think all cops are out to kill them. (3)The idiot leaders who teach these bigots that all cops are out to kill them.
(4) Those who just want to create anarchy in America.

Side note: I listened to part of the press conference of the Governor of Minnesota who said most people who've been arrested in the Minneapolis riots are from out of state. I think some reporter asked the governor who were some of the people being from out-of-state who'd been arrested and the governor replied that some of the outside agitators could've been white supremacists...This is bogus. A white supremacist would've stuck out like a sore thumb in the rioting. A white supremacist would've created their own set of different riot responses from the rioters. Either politicians like the Governor of Minnesota are getting dumber or politicians think we're getting dumber. I don't doubt that outside agitators are involved in the rioting in Minneapolis and across the US but I highly doubt white supremacists are involved in the rioting.
That's probably why Barr's DOJ characterized the outside rioters as ANTIFA-like and not as white supremacist-like.
