Joe Biden: My VP pick will be a woman

Warren is an olive branch to GENERIC lefties. Some of those generics may favor Sanders, but some said they'd be happy with either Sanders or Warren.

So, in the end it comes down to which pick Team Biden thinks will bring in more voters, and from where.
Sad to say, it's actually more likely that Biden thinks Team Amy might bring in more people.
And I say "sad" not because I dislike Amy, but because I think Liz would be better, but that is just my opinion.
Count on Liz to be a leader in a Biden cabinet if she is not Veep.

I would agree that Warren might bring in more people - but NOT in the key states they need to win. Klobuchar does that.

I think the front runners are California Sen. Kamala Harris, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, former deputy attorney general Sally Yates and New Hampshire Sens. Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen.

Senator Harris and Stacey Abrams would each check two boxes - female and a woman of color.

If Ms. Harris still has future designs on running for the presidency, a stint as VP would be extremely beneficial.

This would provide her with deep practical experience at the Federal level, and increase her Q rating (familiarity/recognition) significantly.

Klobuchar would be good too. My first top three choices of all the candidates in order were, Biden, Klobuchar and Buttigieg.

That's always the fault in this reasoning. You set up a false dichotomy between being 'best for the job' and being a minority or woman candidate. Its especially silly in this case. When you are hiring for a position with a nation-wide search, among literally hundreds of potential candidates, there is no one best, most qualified person even if you have stringent, clearly objective and narrowly defined criteria and standards such as doctorate degrees, years in the field, and a 10 years of experience in management and administration. There are tiers of 'best candidates to do the job', nearly 'the best candidates', capable and competent but second rate candidates, and those that you want to believe are capable and competent because you like them. This is a political post, among of its most obvious 'qualifications' is to help you get elected into office and another is an ability to do the job, and a third is go accomplish similar public policy goals, all incredibly subjective.

You are going to have dozens and dozens of 'best candidates' in the tier one, for a position such as this and several will be minorities or women. You don't have to sacrifice anything to select anyone of them or one of the women or minorities in that tier. They each will deliver electability, be able to do the job and accomplish similar public policy goals. They will do it in different ways, according to their own personal temperament, style vision and personal history and experience.

There is no 'either or' here. Its a 'one or both' choice. Biden will [pick a 'best candidate' who is tier one and a women.

Picking VPs are always a tricky business. There are a lot of things you have to jungle. For Biden, the big thing going against him is his AGE and worries that the Bernie Bros will vote for Trump or De Facto Trump aka Third Party or stay at home or write-in. We also have to consider Texas, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida as key battleground states.

Freshman governors, senators, or U.S house members are probably a bad idea. He needs a candidate that voters can be confident of being a great president, just in case "old man Biden" gets ill or losing it mentally. Grisham and Whitmer are probably too inexperienced for Biden. They just won their governorship in 2019. Abrams came close to winning the governorship, but that's still a loss and wouldn't him his candidacy.

I am thinking Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren, Tammy Duckworth or Tammy Baldwin as the best candidates.

Klobuchar is somebody whose won over both Republican and Democratic districts and appeals to the mid-west.

Warren doesn't come from a swing state, but it would help him win over large factions of the Bernie Bros.

Personally I think he should go with a Tammy. Duckworth would be somebody with an inspiration story and would be somebody people could trust if disaster strikes again. Baldwin would be somebody to the left of Biden and comes from a swing state of Wisconsin.

Treat men and women equal. Stop giving preferential treatment. The left says it's all about equality, but BS like this proves they are no about equality at all.

I'm simply saying that Team Biden is doing the math just as you are.
My personal like of Warren has nothing to do with it.
But then again, I'm betting Warren can wind up with the very cabinet position she was denied under Obama.

Maybe they'd blame any number of people wrongly. Maybe Obama should have resigned. Maybe Michelle should have divorced him. Maybe Joe Biden should have resigned. Holder hadn't even been *notified* of the program. A program based on the similar activity of the Bush administration. It was poorly run, well intentioned, but not by Holder.

And that would be an issue how? First they would need something to impeach him on. Then, even if they managed to pull it through (not likely at all, especially since the Senate isnt likely to change to 60/40 R/Ds, let alone more to actually remove him), it simply would put us with a woman President. Not really that big of a deal.
