I think liars and bad actors need confronting.

Status should not protect them from the consequences of their actions.

100% agreed....

Human Decency and Civility SHOULD also be applied TO ALL and Regardless of Status.

You haven't attacked my positions or posited any positions of your own.

Both of these are patent nonsense. Do you have any connection to reality at all these days?

It works both ways. Cuban-Americans, gotta love 'em. Are you that defend what happened to Tucker Carlson also OK with this?

calamity, DH Kirkwood, Exactice, JoanDavis, Kreton, LadyMoonlight, molten_dragon, Phys251, RabidAlpaca, ThoughtEx., Trippy Trekker, Vadinho, WCH, What if...?, Xelor....I am very disappointed in all of you. The question was not do these people have a right to attack the Carlson family out at a restaurant for dinner, the question is do you think it is a bad thing that this is happening? Is it a bad thing that America has gotten to such incivility. If you cant get yourself to supporting the Western concept of civility enough to say YES then I wonder what you are doing at DP where civility is a must.

Perhaps you would be more comfortable some other place.

Note: I am thrilled to see that none of the MODS went wrong here.

Yeah, repeatedly saying "Oh the irony!" is not attacking my positions. Like an idiot who has no idea what's going on you tried to call out everyone who voted no as "supporting violence" when the thread is about heckling in public. Like I said, if you have an actual point relevant to the OP, make it or move along.

Beyond "human being," I don't know what "status" comes into play, but I'm very interested in how much you put your words into action and whether you think this is exclusively your entitlement or whether each one of us should feel free to confront any and all people we deem "bad actors." It seems to me that if we didn't abide by some general societal rules, there would be violence and chaos.

So do you routinely tell off your coworkers? Call them liars to their faces and/or scold them in front of everybody else because they aren't up to your snuff? Do you routinely confront other diners at a restaurant to tell them that you don't appreciate their attire or tones of voices? Correct other people's children in the grocery store and tell mom and dad what lousy parents they are?

Horse ****! Where does he promote cornering liberals anywhere and having them physically threatened? Name one!

We are dangerous and ruining the country.

They leave what to do about it to the crazies.

Then blame us for the crazies acting up.

No it's not a bad thing that he feels that way. What happened to the much vaunted "right to privacy" the Left so loves?

You give That up when you become a public persona?

Does it make a difference at all to you people that when Carlson and others like him voice their opinion they do so in a media format that can be turned off at will while when he's verbally assaulted in public he can't readily get away from the scene? Does that make any difference at all to you or is it just the price he has to pay because people like you disagree with him?

They should get to send their poison out for 8 hours, in an environment where they control who gets to question them, and then flip off their switch and for the next 16 hours never be held accountable for the damage they are doing?

Okay. Clearly a lot of people disagree. Including the Constitution of the United States. Some of the protestors are going too far. But not all. And their right to protest against the harm caused by people such as Carlson is protected expression. If you want to argue against the Constitution, well, okay.

Let's make no mistake about this:

Everyone who voted "no" nakedly supports fascist behavior, where the physical intimidation of political opponents is encouraged.

This is shameful.

Not for those who aren't driven to follow.

I never have gotten status games.

But I have aspergers and that is obviously one of the parts that doesn't work like it does in other folks.

This blind acceptance of some high place where you are safe from the ire of the other humans is patently absurd.

With all due respect, the right of the people to peaceably assemble is what is protected. Disrupting the dinner of not only the object of your ire but also everyone else in the establishment is FAR from being peaceable.

I am assuming you pulled my name based on my vote... I am not sure how I voted ,.... as I agree with you but I may have twisted the words around? but to clarify.

Is it a bad thing that America has gotten such incivility? ABSOLUTELY. Its TERRIBLE and it will ONLY get worse because people keep going further and further to their corners rather than sucking it up. swallowing their pride and meeting in the middle.

The prior poster was talking about spitting in food and such..WHICH is absolutely deplorable. To be afraid just because you are on the opposite side of an agreement that gives someone the right to mess with your food is ABSOLUTELY disgusting.

SOOOO..... With that Hawkeye...when I read the title?

"Is it a Bad thing" that tucker feels" I read that as you were asking was it bad for Tucker to "feel" like he cant take his family, NO its NOT bad that he feels that way.... HE SHOULD feel that way.. THESE PEOPLE are freaking being terrible and LACK civility. So Tucker has ever RIGHT to feel afarid to take his family out now.

SO I am assuming I misinterpreted your point?

Where's that, though? The restaurant Cruz was chased out of wasn't exactly Burger King.

In any case, you're basically saying "he can afford not to mingle with the riff-raff, so why is he worried?" That being after a mob tried to break in his own door while his wife was home alone. If he can't feel safe at home, then how is he going to feel safe anywhere?

There was no mention of damage to the door in the police report.

Which is odd if it happened because that would be attempted breaking and entering.

Peaceably assembling is relative.

And sometimes civil disobedience is in order. Talk to the original Tea Partiers.

Some people carry it too far. But making Carlson uncomfortable isn't necessarily carrying it too far.

Communities have standards. If protestors are violating the law of the community, call the police.

Yeah, repeatedly saying "Oh the irony!"

And this is simply a lie. What you don't hallucinate in your rage, you make up.

What you support is (literally, historically) fascist behavior, for which you apparently believe the ends justify the means. And that is disgraceful, notwithstanding your crazed and ham-fisted attempts to turn it around on me.

I'd ask if you're this angry because you're embarrassed about called out for supporting terrible behavior, but no, you're well beyond any shame at this point. You're just this angry, period.

I've already given you more time than you warrant. Ta.

Yeah. I mean, having a sense of common courtesy and general respect for the others around you would be a bit much to ask of some people.

OK, this makes no sense at all.

This blind acceptance of some high place where you are safe from the ire of the other humans is patently absurd.

Neither does this, actually, but to any extent that it does, it's disturbing.

They should stay within bounds of the law. But they are also allowed to take their opportunities when the opportunities arise. Elites such as Carlson are able to insulate themselves in bubbles, rarely being accountable for the way they're influencing the president for the worst. So, as long as protestors aren't actually violating the law, then boo hoo for a public figure experiencing a little blowback for the actions he is doing to rake in the big bucks.

I did, you are edify him being an elitist?

WHY should it matter. NO Decent HUMAN should be spitting in ones FOOD or doing anything to anyone's food PERIOD.

RICH, POOR, Black, white, Gay, Straight...... You dont agree... with their beliefs color of skin, or bank account what gives YOU the right to decided the quality of service you provide to someone. IF YOU DO NOT like the job.. dont do it....

THIS IS a matter of HUMAN decency. NOTHING to do with Tucker being rich and me being poor...

This ain't my first day, sparky. However, your faux righteous indignation is duly noted.

That's all you're going to get from me. Save my original post and savor it.

Here's a Risky suggestion just for you. Calm down, learn to read properly or move your posting efforts here.

And still no concern for everyone else that's in the establishment...

I'm not surprised that so many people seem to believe that they are the only ones in the world that matter but it is a little discouraging.

Your assuming. Making a scene in a restaurant could be criminal trespass or criminal disturbing the peace.

I'm respecting community standards -- local government control -- are you not a fan of that?

And I'm respecting the law.

If protestors are breaching the law then they are going too far.

But if they are looking for legal opportunities to say their piece to Carlson, then welcome to America.

I get it. You don't really believe anyone else has a right to eating a peaceful dinner as long as you're exercising your rights within the law. I understand that. I just don't think that simply obeying the law is enough to be considered "polite" or "courteous".

Ummm ... do you support Donald Trump?

If so, then you lost your ground for lecturing about politeness or courtesy long ago.

If not, then I'm happy that you have those standards. But our Constitution does protect freedom of expression in troubled times like this. And people such as Carlson who use their constitutional rights in egregious ways are not protected from legal consequences of their choices.

Damn you're a hard case!

You know, it is possible to support certain policies and practices while not supporting certain behaviors. I seem to recall a lot of Democrats saying that about Bill Clinton back in the day. The idea that you have to hate someone just because they support someone else that you dislike is stupid and petty.
