How much would you pay for a smoker?

Yeah, I walk closer to people who are smoking.

Lol, you guys are sick. I merely tried to start one once, for a friend that had their hands busy. I couldn't get that thing out of my mouth fast enough.

Really? I've never smoked and there are few thing I hate more than cigarette smoke. It's also a major allergy trigger for me. Swells my nostrils shut with one whiff - whether it's actual smoke, or just passing a heavy smoker in the store.
To bring these topics together: why is it that a bonfire, charcoal grill or smoker, smoke from the wildfires when they make the sky orange, etc. all seem to smell kind of nice to me, but cigarettes smell so remarkably horrible? The only natural plant I ever burned that smelled a fraction of that bad is mistletoe. As a kid, I rapidly discovered that just touching a cigarette butt for a minute to throw it out leaves a stink on the fingers that a decent wash with soap and water won't clear away. I don't get asthma from them, but secondary smoke noticeably hurts my lungs. Never understood why the worst of all smoke would be the type people would inhale on purpose.

Interesting. My mother told me yesterday she never suffered nasal allergies when she smoked. I speculated that her nasal passages were probably deadened by all the bad things in cigarette smoke.

I think for the same reason people "like" the taste of coffee and alcohol. The come to associate the taste with pleasant drug effects they bring.

I like Traeger smokers and you can spend anywhere from $300 to $4000.
Mine was $350 and is perfect for my needs.

My parents both smoked, and it never really bothered me when I was growing up, but I didn't have any allergies then that I can remember, other than dandelions. I spent some time in bars, where of course a lot of people smoked, in my 20s. It wasn't till I was in my late 20s/early 30s that cigarettes really started to bother me, and I think maybe it's because I wasn't around them all the time and had gotten used to decent air, lol. The rest of my allergies started showing up around my late 40s, and now they're year round. I really do blame cigarettes for killing my sinuses.

Same. Look like this?
It has 2 probes. One goes into the meat and the other goes into an onion half to tell the air temp of the smoker.

My ex BF liked to play with the smoker. He liked playing caveman with fire and smoke. I stick to making burgers, dogs and maybe chops on my little 18" Weber Jumbo Joe.

As you know Ohio isn't known for good BBQ but smoked meat is one of the few kinds of meat that I occasionally crave.

Ah, the linked one that I have is 2 in 1. The tip, one probe of which you only insert up to a marked point, and the back end of it contains the second which registers grill environment temp.

Not a big thing, but we have quite a few mom and pop type places around here that serve do smoked meat.
