How much would you pay for a smoker?

I’m an ex smoker. There are few things smell wise I love more than cigarette smoke.

Really? I've never smoked and there are few thing I hate more than cigarette smoke. It's also a major allergy trigger for me. Swells my nostrils shut with one whiff - whether it's actual smoke, or just passing a heavy smoker in the store.

I have a 22" Weber bullet that I bought off Facebook marketplace for $150.00. It will smoke a whole brisket or just a few racks of ribs easily.

Some meats/cuts only take about 9-5 to smoke. And it was worth tending to it from morning.😛

I don't drink much these days. But I can see how the task of manning the smoker all day, with a cooler full of brewski's to ward-off dehydration in the hot summer sun, might be the personal toil required for my family to enjoy such great fare! It's a tough laborious job, but family comes first!

A chicken cooks in just about 2 hours, Ribs are 3-4.

I usually like to let ribs go longer. Of course depends on what type and thickness.

Like to let them go straight on the grate about 2-3 hours trying to keep at about 275 or so, and then cradle up in foil, flipping occasionally to keep juices and moist. Dial temp back a little and let go until they pretty well fall apart when going to pick up.

Though after about 4 hours, I quit with the wood and just keep temp with charcoal. Does come a point when it's to much smoke.

Lol, I was thinking not much - they're smelly.
We were traveling the other day, and I saw premium brands at 12+ bucks a pack. Yikes. That's what a carton cost when I started smoking back in the day. No thanks.

Then to maximize my plan, I might best be served by something like a whole side of beef!
I like to smoke big bone-in chuck roasts instead of briskets because it takes less than half the time.

I cant even imagine what smoker could smoke a side of cow.

Whatever it costs, it will be worth it!

(You realize this is all in jest? Right?)

This is what use. Big enough for parties and the food is amazing.

Under $300

Had one of those for a while and usually made smoked chicken. I finally got rid of it because I hardly ever used it (you can get rotisserie chicken everywhere now), it took up space on the patio, extra propane tank, snoopy grandkids, etc.

I didn't even know her

I can't imagine spending that much or more everyday on something that's just going to kill you.

True, but you have to keep your eye on the fire.

Mine monitors the temp of the meat and the temp of the fire. I forget the name but it was about $100. on Amazon.

I have a computerized temperature probe so its a phone app.

Does it not require a rather high level of attention? Feeding more coals, etc?

I can smoke a spatchocked chicken or ribs with less than a full load of charcoal and wood. A brisket takes a full load but I seldom do that(only once) A large chuck roast is about the same as a pork shoulder.
