How many terms will Ocasio Cortez serve until primaried out of Congress?

How many terms will Ocasio Cortez is primaried out of Congress?

Except you know, an actual progressive that champions their core ideas like Medicare for All, and not a corporatist New Dem who said it would never happen.

Ummm...look buddy, I'm sorry, but you gotta stop with this silly Hillary hate. Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton were desperately trying to pass Single Payer Health Care all the way back in 1993. Even in 2008, the single biggest difference between Hillary and Obama with respect to pure policy was that Hillary was still advocating Single Payer while Obama didn't think it was feasible. It was only after Obama won(on the strength of votes from a lot of Bernie Bros I might add) that Hillary gave up on Single Payer and threw her support behind the ACA. I love Obama, and I voted for him over Hillary, but if Hillary Clinton had won the 2008 primary over Obama she too would have almost certainly won a huge victory over McCain and had a super majority in the Senate. If that would have happened guess what you'd have today? Single Payer Health Care.

I'm sorry man, but anybody calling Hillary Clinton a corporatist doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

I chose [at least] two terms for purely practical reasons. Firstly we cannot see into the future so any more is just bold prophecy. I think she is unlikely to have even a primary challenger because the constituents that voted for her wanted change, they wanted a progressive and will likely still want that when she's up for re-election. So unless she screws up completely they won't want to change her.

Looking further ahead the end of the two-term mark is where fatigue can set in. If she hasn't really delivered on promises and gets absorbed into the mainstream, someone better might come along. I expect if she keeps doing what she's doing and gets results for her constituents then she'll last a lot longer, but I give her a minimum of two terms.

Time will tell.

Either way, it's fun to see them become so deranged over a woman that's basically Bambi in high heels.

Dude, WTF? Seriously? You are just as bad as they are, assuming she's nothing a "cute little girl in heels."

That's ****ed up. You're better than that.

There is no way the Hillary of 2008 would have advanced SPHC, when Obama who had ostensibly the more progressive, ambitious platform at the time, struggled to deliver even the relatively unambitious ACA without a public option due to Manchin's meddling (and other similar insurer subverted interests within his own party; Manchin was the most egregious case though). As to the 'supermajority', Obama polled better than Hillary did among independents.

Regarding Hillary being a corporatist, I look at her biggest donors and industry supporters, her statements and positions with regard to key progressive policy ('Singlepayer will never happen') and see everything I need to know; it's as plain as day. If it's any consolation, my opinion on Obama isn't much different for the same reasons. Even if she isn't a corporatist (and I have plenty of reason to believe she is) she sure as hell ain't no progressive, nor even remotely in AOC's ballpark on core, definitive policies.

Also 'Bernie Bros' isn't really a thing; 2016 wants its bull**** meme back: No such thing as Bernie Bros: Bernie's approval rates are women 50%, blacks 70%, latinx 55%; men 46%, whites 43% / Boing Boing

She’s proven toxic to the Leftists. She’s going to be primaried and defeated quickly.

The Democrats can ill afford someone who honestly spills the beans on their whacky ideas.

Don't know. Her ideas appeal to the leech class of society IE socialist scum. So unless all the leeches move out of her district or a another politician who is better at kissing the asses of leeches comes along and beats her in a primary she will continue getting elected.

I said three. Enough terms to run for president. The right can't stand her, her base loves her. Who is going to primary her?

I think you'll be gravely disappointed if you think she'll move on core policies like MFA, universal college and the like (which the majority of the country strongly supports by the way, and are becoming more, not less popular). Personally I think some of her goals with the GND are more aspirational than practical, but beyond that, I don't see anything about her policies that imply ignorance. If you meant she's relatively uninformed about the litany of existing policies in place, I can see that as she hasn't been in the game nearly long enough to be fully oriented.

The ignorance I'm alluding to simply refers to the nitty gritty of policy, economics and the levers of power, as it were. I don't think she's stupid or that her vision is bad. And neither am I allowing Republicans to define the four corners of the debate concerning AOC. Their examples of her ignorance are exaggerated, to say the least.

And their criticism is hypocritical, of course: Republicans aren't tasked with explaining how the country will pay for every single tax cut for the rich, but they will always demand that every social policy be explained in full. Now, don't get me wrong -- Democrats should be able to explain that. I just don't consider Republicans to be credible messengers for much of anything when it comes to deficits or how things should be paid for.

Completely fair and totally agreed, nevermind their continual insistence on wars and military spending, which, like tax cuts, of course never needs any explanation for its financing; especially when they want to do both simultaneously ala Bush.

I was only trying to say that they freak out and paint her as a diabolical devil like they've done to Pelosi and Clinton, when she's obviously laid back and cute - hence the Bambi reference.

Going off the deep and end like you're doing, is exactly they kind of overreaction they capitalized on to elect Trump.

After all my defending of liberal women over the two years I've been on here, you're the last person I would expect to say I'm "as bad as them".

So, would she be paying the 70% tax she wants on the rich? or would that be the typical "not me, them".

You understand that is raising campaign money, not personal income, you are trying to make a point about?

Re: How many terms will Ocasio Cortez is primaried out of Congress?

What do you think happens first...AOC gets the boot out of congress or OJ goes back to jail?

MP - this is what you said:

That was just wrong. You are belittling her and everything about her by saying that. It's hard enough for women to be taken seriously without all men looking at them in that way.

She's not "Bambi in high heels." She's an elected official, who beat a 10-term incumbent. She worked her ass off to get where she is, and she deserves the chance to show what she can do, without being judged by her looks.

It's so ****ed up that people automatically look at women (especially women in power) and comment on their looks, as if that will have anything whatsoever to do with how she does her job.

As for your "going off the deep end" comment, I am not going off the deep end.

Just because a woman becomes upset does not mean she is going off the deep end.

I think some people belittle AOC precisely because they fear her ability to shake up the status quo.

I think the fact she is energizing people to get up and get into political activism is a great accomplishment.

I agree, and I think she's ballsy enough to go far, if people take her seriously because of who she is and what she can accomplish, and not by what she looks like in heels.

I can't imagine her getting past the third trimester.

she's naive but cute and charismatic. Her district is full of barking loons and she beat an effective and respected democrat. I suspect she ends up marrying some high profile lefty-maybe an actor or a Media talking head and ending up being a CNN talk show host.

Re: How many terms will Ocasio Cortez is primaried out of Congress?

It’s likely her district will exist no more in the coming election. It’s getting redrawn.

That would be hilarious if the DNC gerrymandered the district in a way that prevents her reelection. After the way Bernie was treated, that would likely cause a permanent rift within the party likely leading to the formation of a seperate Progressive/Socialist party.

I put my foot in my mouth, Superfly. It was a mistake that I didn't mean to imply what you think it did, but you're continuing on like you don't believe me.

You stated I'm "just as bad as them", like I'm a sexist for one stupid comment and that's pretty low for you to say that, considering how I've got to bat for you and other women on this site against attacks on your intelligence, and so this is actually pretty hurtful to someone that considers you a friend.

Thank you, and apologies if I took it the wrong way. You do have to understand why women get so angry when things like this happen. It's not just women like her. It's women anywhere, where there are a much higher number of men than women.

I'd bet if you polled women on this site, many of them would admit to being frustrated that they aren't taken as seriously, despite the fact that they are just as smart, or capable, or well-read as the men (and in some cases more so).

So yes. Touchy subject. I apologize if I overreacted.

At the rate she is going it may be just 1. Her stance on losing the 25,000 jobs from Amazon's decision not to move to New York should cause outrage among New Yorkers. She was all too happy about Amazon not coming. Typical of her, ask a question and she comes up with a dumb answer.

AOC will by far outlast Trump.

I tried to add some interpretation to your question. I don't think that she will be defeated in a primary. While many of your assertions are correct, I surmise that she will either run for President in 2024 or someone who wants her out of the way will give her a no-show high paying job. It's obvious that she's a political prostitute and definitely for sale.

AOC will by far outlast Trump.

She may and that shows how stupid the voters are. She is hurting here own district with her applauding Amazons decision not to come to New York. She is a fool. Anybody can throw out crazy proposals to gain attention. It takes some sense to get a program in place that helps.

Well... it looks like we all could be wrong.

She might not make it through her first term.

Just in time, Hillary claims she isn;t running in 2020, and with that, the mantle is passed onto a worthy follower...

“Crooked” Cortez.
