Greatest QB's of All-Time

Are you suggesting that Tom Brady was carried by the Patriots rather than the other way around? You do realize I would hope that at least a couple of those Super Bowl champion teams Brady played on were the underdogs in the game.

... and they lost to the deplorable Giants twice... teams that barely made the playoffs in the first place.

Warren Moon definitely deserves consideration. From wikipedia:

Moon was in the top five all-time when he retired for passing yards, passing touchdowns, pass attempts, and pass completions

and that was after losing the first six years of his NFL career, and being limited to the teams he could play for, because he was black.

Loved Moon's deep ball...

Only if you are comparing Robert Horrys and Brady's contribution to their perspective teams.

Football is a much more team oriented sport than basketball... Brady is less important than Jordan, for example.

QB literally makes or breaks a franchise.

Tom Brady

Superbowl rings don't care how fast you were, or how great your arm was.

Only one of those Superbowls was won due to Tom, the Falcons game. All the others were team efforts.

Best QB ever was Joe. And, the guy who could not beat him was #2.

How come nobody is talking about Bobby Douglas?

n 1972, playing for the Chicago Bears, Douglass set the record for most rushing yards by a QB in one season. The record stood for 34 years...

In a November 4, 1973, game against the Green Bay Packers, Douglass ran for four touchdowns in a 31-17 win. He and Billy Kilmer are the only quarterbacks in NFL history to rush for four touchdowns in a single game.

Too late... I already win.

Brad Johnson
Trent Difer
Joe Flacco
Etc

And how many Super Bowls or even playoff games did they win after they won their one ring?

The difference between one offs and the usual suspects are great qbs. To say otherwise is absurd.

I flew to Charlotte that night, vial Reagan Intl. Obviously, the game was the topic of conversation for most. Funny thing though is no one ever mentions Doug Williams anymore.

I cringed when his leg twisted at an ugly ankle. Best second quarter in my lifetime, and a no-name rushes for a SB record, Timmy Smith, stood until Marcus Allen in Tampa, I had a ticket to that one. The fans must have had reversible gear, because all I saw was burgundy and gold before the game and after there was nothing but silver and black.

Smith had issues later in life, IIRC. One time hero goes goat fast.

I don't recall Williams getting hurt. But, I know he was pretty much done by 1990. I guess that ankle injury may explain why.

Speaking Silver and Black, what about Jim Plunkett? Now there's a QB who knew how to win Superbowls and not much else. Jim was Eli Manning before there was an Eli Manning. :)

Depends on where you are I suppose. He's senior in the Redskins organization so he gets a lot of ink in Virginia.

What about Bradshaw? Does everyone agree him winning four rings is only a case of being in the right place at the right time? If so, I'd say the same applies to Tom.

6-2

Tom got them to those 6 Super Bowls

Elway twice.

Tom: right place right time, great coach and organization.

John: 7th on Denver's list of all time rushing yards and 1st in passing. It could be argued that Elway was Denver's offense for most of those SB years.

I understand the impossibility of comparing generational players...and there arre ALWAYS thing people will point to. O-lines...rcvrs...rules changes, different defenses...all of that is real...but I prefer to think in terms of adaptive greatness. A great player yesterday would have likely developed as an athlete to be a great player today. Still...

Tom Brady's history is just too strong. 9 Superbowls in 20 years. 6 Superbowl wins. 4 SuperBowl MVPs. Individual accolades too numerous to type.

Due to his state of birth, Brady easily qualifies.

But the shocker is I rate Steve Young the highest due to both his arm, his intellect and he could fly for touchdowns on his own.

The best QB on a bad team will not go far. Brady will not go far with Tampa Bay.

I sold a home both to and for a Redskin player who played the Raiders in that Superbowl. He said it was due to spacing problems that they lost . During the season they were virtually unbeatable. The Raiders got lucky and of course had Marcus Allen.
