Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) doubled down on his defense of President Trump amid the ongoing impeachment inquiry, arguing there's "nothing there" in the call between Trump and Ukrainian leaders to suggest the president did anything wrong. "You make your mind up about the phone call. I made my mind up. There's nothing there," Graham said in an interview Saturday with KCCI, a Des Moines CBS affiliate. Graham has been one of Trump's staunchest allies defending the president's actions amid the impeachment inquiry. He told CBS News last week he won't read the transcripts released of witness depositions. "I've written the whole process off," he said.

Lindsey Graham has essentially announced that what he will do once impeachment reaches the Senate is jury nullification. Making up your mind to not convict while stating outright that you will not look at the evidence is the textbook definition of jury nullification.

What Graham is communicating to the American public is that the evidence is really, really damaging to Trump.

I agree with every word. But realize that you are punishing him for being more candid than the rest of Trump's lackeys. They will pretend, while doing everything they can to sabotage the House Managers.

The only question is whether the House Managers should bother to show up for the Senate farce, when the Senate intends frustrate and stymie their efforts at every turn. The President is just as impeached whether the trial is held or not and public will be as educated as we can make them, in House public hearings where Pelosi controls the pacing, the narrative, and what evidence is admitted.

What do you call the attempt to extort a foreign entity into publicly announcing the opening of an investigation into ones chief political rival, which is designed to help electoral chances in the upcoming election, in exchange for the release of military aid appropriated by Congress and an official State Visit? In virtually all circles, when blind partisanship is removed, this is considered the very definition of a "High Crime" and is completely in line with what our Founders feared the most. And was instrumental in their writings regarding impeachment. What do you call this, if not a High Crime?

I see no reason to punish him for his candor. There will be about 4O others with the same view.

The only question is whether the House Managers should bother to show up for the Senate farce, when the Senate intends frustrate and stymie their efforts at every turn. The President is just as impeached whether the House managers prosecute the case or not, and public will be as educated as we can make them, in House public hearings where Pelosi and friends controls the pacing, the narrative, and what evidence is admitted. If the Senate wants to do its job, it can appoint some Democratic senators to prosecute. If it does not, it can table the articles, and not bother us all with false pretense.

His is actually how trump could possibly be removed, the 2/3rds vote is not of every member of the Senate. It is of those present.

I can see a lot of Republicans abstaining and not showing up...

The American public already understands it. The problem you have is that liberals lied about collusion for 3 years so no one believes you. Among other politicians, I followed McCain’s service in the Senate (and Congress before) for decades and have a fair understanding of the man. I’m sure that my belief is shared by many others.

What did you call it when Biden openly bragged about denying support unless they fired a prosecutor? And since the US policy is that there is no foreign aid for corrupt governments, it would certainly be appropriate top ensure the government you are working with isnt corrupt. Similarly, since there was no "unless you do this I wont do that" then there is no quid pro quo.
