Government Shutdown Looming....$100K ticket Fundraiser at Maralago

And that's your excuse for a possible government shut down, the GOP are not a hive mind and do not have absolute power in every facet of government? That's a pretty sad excuse.

Its not an excuse, its a rebuttal of the criticism that its soley their fault. The reason for a shutdown is primarily partisan ship on all sides, and among the citizens.

The Republicans have most of the cards here, the Dems barely control anything, if the Republicans are not capable of wheeling and dealing their way out of this, that's on them.

The Republicans are the party in power, stop treating them like some underdog opposition party, because if the government does get shut down, they will get the blame.

If government shuts down, Republicans will get more blame: Poll

That's the lie that's being told. It can't Trump made sure that it can't with what he did by ending it.
By March you will have about 1/3 of DACA folks out of school and work because of what he did.

The game Republicans are playing with kids is absolutely horrid. There playing it with all kids.

They kicked the CHIP program down the road for almost 6 months so they could attach it to something and point there fingers at democrats...look they care about illegals more than US citizens.
DACA another kick down the road however their president decided to put their feet to the fire so now they have to do something. But they want to tie that to other **** so here we go again.

Why wasn't CHIPS tied to the tax bill or passed on it's own why is it tied to a continuing resolution?

Republicans are really playing a hard game ****ing with kids lives I hope democrats don't fold to the bull****.

I believe Ryan

It isnxt semantics. It's fact!

The fact, is that the Republicans don't controll three branches of government. Neither party can control the Judicial Branch, anyway.

God knows Trump is trying to control the judicial branch. The fact is the R's have had several months to work on this and have chosen not to do so. But it's fun to watch you try and defend this one.

Well he just cancelled his Maralago trip and Congress has been ordered to stay in Washington. I guess someone whispered in the presidents ear, no matter the talking points put out there this will be bad for your party.

Oh WOW that must have pissed him off!! GOOD.

The skinny black man and his SOS disappeared for an entire day while one of our ambassadors was killed and our consulate burned.

I consider that more important than some business as usual possible government shutdown.

OH WOW a twofer - but Hillary AND Obama. Good one.

I'm nor defending Congress for anything. I'm dispelling the notion that this is "Truuuuuuuump's fault!".

I didn't bring it up. Another poster brought it up. But sometimes a response is almost too easy.

Nothing wrong with that...but look behind the words.
What you don't realize is they could put DACA off until March of 2019 but they won't tell you is by then there is nothing to discuss. They all lose status are out of work/school and ICE rounds them up and sends them to countries they don't know...Then Wah Lah no need for anything to be done.

The right wing republicans are playing games. They are negotiating in bad faith putting kids against kids.

Its not just Trump's fault, the entire GOP is screwing up here.

It's Congress' fault. The Democrats share part of the blame, because they are willing to shimutdown the government just to protect non-citizens who are in the country illegally; protecting criminals.

Republicans control the majority of congress, they control what bills are voted on or make it to the floor.

And who is the majority party in Congress? Stop treating the GOP like they are some underdog opposition party, they are in power and being power puts more responsibility on them then the opposition party, they do not really need Dems to avoid a government shut down and if they really wanted the Dems' support, they can wheel and deal to get it. The Republicans have been treating compromise as a dirty word for years, they made their bed and they can lay in it.

House in recess, signaling shut down coming. Senate GOP split on proposed CR (Graham being among the most explicit against it). The President and Schumer are meeting right now, alone.

Polling shows mixed results. On one hand, twice as many will blame the GOP and Trump if a shutdown occurs. However, 28% will blame Democrats. Further, this is likely to cause strain on a large number of Democratic Senators in red states up for re-election this year. Dem base wants a fight, seemingly convinced that if they don’t satisfy the base, this will not help them in 2018. However, if we consider the number of seats Dems are risking in red states, this isn’t a comfortable decision to go for shutdown.

This is a moment where the base goes one way, but electoral politics would demand another direction.

Well I'm in a red state and man I wish my senators were up for re election. I would be out there every day. I won't be here in 2020 I wish I was.

Age reasons or location reasons for not being there in 2020?

Neither financial. Moved for a lower cost of living. Specifically housing but due to health insurance. My cost of living is the same. So heading back.
So yeah I guess it's an age thing. I need health insurance.

Yeah, lets celebrate as long as illegals come firth. Yes, DACA recipients have been here for a long time, and we need to find a compassionate solution for them. But we also need to address the issue of illegal immigration. That is due in march. NOW, TODAY, we are talking about taking care of the American people, the legal citizens, the voters, those who protect us all.

GOP and Trump rhetoric has been void of compassion for all illegals. The fact that this is about dreamers is putting many of them in an uncomfortable position, because the rhetoric has lacked addressing people like dreamers for years.

Your GOP 'illegal immigrant' card is vastly unpopular with America ...

I hope so. I hope they abandon they anti immigrant anti Muslim crap too. I find the president absolutely appalling.

Who's anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim? Or is this anotyer version of "you be a racist if you disagree with me"?

I hope dems don't fold either. It will make me sad. Already have my own concerns for many people I know. :(
