GOP memo criticizing FBI surveillance is released

It's a big nothing. The claim the warrant on Carter Page didn't disclose that the Steele dossier was funded by Hillary. A big nothing. The FBI had a ton of reasons to be suspicious of Carter Page.

Nunes is a clown. He makes these grand announcements and they turn out to be nothing.

Yep. It's a giant yawn. And it certainly does not provide the ENTIRE package of evidence provided to the FISC to justify the surveillance of Carter Page.

In short, this memo is a gigantic lie of omission.

I suppose we'll find that out.

Right now, all we are sure of is that the judge renewed the warrant.

I would like to see the warrant as well and know exactly what was used to secure it.

If the Steele Dossier was instrumental in any way in securing the warrant, it and anything it led to needs to be thrown away.

Muldoon and the Gang That Won't Shoot Straight are playing a charade that looks legal but is a perversion of our system.

This travesty is the most frightening abuse of power by our government that has occurred in my life time.

Renewed it 3 times. The reason it was a "witch hunt" is because there were, in fact, witches.

We live in the world called 'reality' actually.

It's just as I expected. There isn't even a shred of evidence indicating any abuse at the FBI, just Nunes making claims with nothing to back that up with but "LOOK, SCARY OBAMA OFFICIALS!" and hoping that does the trick.

It doesn't even come within the galaxy of saying what Nunes and the House Republicans claimed it said. In fact, it give details that allude to probable cause again and again, without anything from Nunes explaining what the cause for the renewals of the FISA warrants was.

Sorry, its a dud.

It says the dossier was a made up hit piece by one set of politicians intended to attack another set of politicians.

It says that the folks who commissioned it, developed it and employed it to gain a warrant were all rabid political opponents of Trump.

Yup, you don't see the right wingers addressing why the warrants got renewed. They got renewed because they continued to find compelling evidence.

What evidence was that?

And they want to pretend that it was Steele which was the basis for the warrant - which ignores years of contact between Page and Russian operatives who repeatedly tried to recruit him - and perhaps did. And there is no reason to believe that information was not available to the FISA court and in fact helped get the warrant. The Democrat reply to the Nunes travesty will most likely document this.

You are imagining facts not in evidence.

"It" being the testimony of a man (Nunes) that is commonly regarded as retarded by even his colleagues.

Because they were INTENTIONALLY LEFT OUT of the Nunes hatchet job piece. And the release of the Dem answer will confirm this.

It reveals that an unvetted dossier was the basis of several fisa warrants. The argument is going to be fruit from the poison tree for trump. Likely that charges will be filed against people who knowingly and intentionally deceived the courts. But yeah it's a big nothing burger lol

That is .. well, Nunes spin. It doesn't say how well vetted or not the dossier was. So, since there is 'omissions and distortions', yes, it's nothing.

Looks to me like proof that the DNC and Clinton campaign colluded with DOJ, and FBI (and thus probably Obama) to win an election.

What evidence was that?
We don't know because Nunes and gang won't detail to anybody what exactly was found by the FBI, that cause the warrants to be renewed.

However, we might get an answer from the Democrats.;)

I read thru' it; it's nothing more than Nunes whining & screaming like a 5 year old ..............

It calls to question EVERYTHING abut the Dossier and the credibility of the people who made it.

It says that Comey described it as salacious and unverified.

The problem is NOT that this cannot be proven to be UN-true. The problem is that a court approved the issuance of a warrant based on this piece of trash.

Justification for the suspension of a citizens rights needs to be based on more than hogwash and prejudice.

The same folks that guaranteed the presence of the WMD in Iraq did this. Why are you so happy with their efforts?

And, they presented evidence about Papadopolous....that is why the judge granted the warrant.

Huge whiff by the right wing.

Why was the dossier presented at all?

That is your opinion, which you are certainly entitled to. Then there is this: The dossier and the investigations preceding it were part of opposition research on Trump. The investigation into Trump was initially funded by a conservative political website before Steele was involved, and later was funded by Democrats

Sounds like GOP eating their own, to my ears, which I am confident they are good at. If not for 'conservatives' this gem would have never been imagined ................... Trump must really love that fact ................

Looks like people see what they want to see.
I see as nothing more than an attempt claim "because of the source" that the facts and evidence presented to the court just cannot be correct and that there is a "big conspiracy" to bring down trump. We shall see, Ryan has backed releasing the Dems memo on it, and we have yet to hear from the FBI and DOJ, Sessions has already said he supports Rosenstein, pssst he might know something you do not. So far I saw nothing new in the way of evidence other than the same claims that have been made all along. For me it is a big nothing-burger other than this may come back to bite some Repubs on the arse.

The dossier confirmed details that the FBI already knew, making it of interest.

You don't seem like you're very familiar with the details and history of all this and you don't seem to want to be.

Why was the dossier presented at all?

Oh maybe because it has evidence of wrong doing that the FBI had already looked into and found to be true. Ever think of that?:doh

Fair enough, that is the accusation nunes is making. The DOJ is free to clarify things and show that nunes is in fact missleading everyone. Release the documents and show us

That's the crazy thing.

I would hope that our intelligence service would take allegations made by a respected British agent seriously. Steele was paid by Republicans and Hillary to investigate Trump. What he found disturbed him so much that he personally contacted the FBI to warn them.

But Steele was not the only one who warned the FBI. Intelligence agencies from other countries also informed the FBI.

Australian diplomat's tip a factor in FBI's Russia inquiry

And Carter Page is not some ordinary American Citizens. Ordinary American Citizens don't spend so much time in Russia and come here promoting Russian interests. Ordinary Americans don't associate with Russian agents.

It's as if Sean Hannity and Stephen Miller, adopted a baby, and called it "Memo"

Hannity probably hasn't been this disappointed since Ron Paul won the 2008 Republican primary Fox News poll multiple times.

And the best bit? Nunes has not actually seen the FISA application underlying the memo’s claims. Only Adam Schiff, the IC’s ranking member, and House Oversight chairman Trey Gowdy have.

The thought of Hannity so upset is most pleasant.

It's far too late for me, but "Meh-mo" would be a fine new handle for someone.
