Gillibrand says she's worried about top options in Dem 2020 poll being white men

We are not supposed to notice that Obama was a black man, or that Gillibrand is a woman. Doing so makes us racist sexist fools in Trixland.

No problem with noticing, as long as you keep in mind all people are human beings with equal rights to all other human beings, including yourself.

Being careful not to stereotype people.

2 : something conforming to a fixed or general pattern especially : a standardized mental picture that is held in common by members of a group and that represents an oversimplified opinion, prejudiced attitude, or uncritical judgment

Funny how intelligent black people have that effect on some. You probably said the same about Obama.

Funny how you have assumed intelligent black people have that effect on some.

Your statement reminded me of a stereotype concerning black people.

Definition of intelligent

2a : possessing intelligence

b : guided or directed by intellect : rational

Education vs Intelligence

There is a vast difference between education and intelligence. Both ideas involve knowledge; however, they are fundamentally different concepts.

Intelligence is an innate and natural ability that we are born with. It involves our natural abilities.

I'm assuming that you were not implying that some black people are not intelligent when using your comparison to back up your negative assumption concerning what Trix wrote.

imho, This is only the beginning of merit going the way of the dodo bird... currently... the metoo woman movement has discovered how well accusations have worked to remove men from positions of authority/employment in many sectors of our society today.

Today there is a tool that can be utilized to remove people from positions of authority/employment by other people via sexual harassment claims.

If, anyone thinks they are safe from sexual harassment claims based on being non-white or non-male, they would be wrong. It applies to all people.

And, from what I read in the link below sexual harassment is based on the what a victim or an observer qualifies as sexual harassment.

Check out bullet point # 3 in the 1st link I provided... If, the victim does not think it was sexual harassment and does not make a claim... an observer who thinks it was sexual harassment can make a claim.

https://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/publications/fs-sex.cfm

https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/04/business/eeoc-sexual-harassment-reports/index.html

The agency said it filed 41 lawsuits that involved allegations of sexual harassment, a 50% increase from the previous year.

Even so, the number of complaints filed to the EEOC is believed to vastly underestimate the scope of harassment in American workplaces.

As many as 70% of people who are harassed never file a complaint with their employer, according to a 2016 EEOC report.

Is the following link an example of sexual harassment?

Biden Has No Chance In 2016, Because Of His Fetish !, page 1

Wow, that's an eye opener. Thanks for the link!

I demand Gillibrand lead by example by checking her White Privilege and stepping down immediately and asking Cuomo to appoint a minority in her place.

I agree, and there's no more evidence Democrats only vote based on race or gender than Republicans do. In fact the party that elects about 99% white Christians (90% male) would appear more race and religion conscious than Democrats.

In the privacy of the voting booth each individual votes for whoever, for whatever reason(s) and there is nothing anyone else can do about that... even a husband who may have tried to influence his wife's vote and that also applies to female vocal politicians.

imho Roseann:)

I think a quick search will show you it was widely reported in every major media outlet.

All that's fine, I was just pointing out that it was unfair and uninformed to go beyond "the numbers" and attribute a cause, which was she was "lazy," at least without explicitly recognizing the pneumonia diagnosis right in the middle of your sample period. While SoS, every account I read is she worked tirelessly and was the opposite of lazy. That didn't likely change. What did change was a very serious illness that at best only completely saps your energy and requires rest from which to recover, which is difficult in a POTUS campaign.

Point taken

People should be elected based on MERIT, not on what color they are or reproductive organ they have.

MLK: I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

The same goes for electing people. Vote for them on their character, not their gender or skin tone.

You forgot tim Scott Allen West

The problem is the 'most qualified' is simply who can win. It has more to do with personality and charisma than qualifications, and it's not close. I also kind of chuckle that picking a white man isn't ALSO about gender and race - of course at some level it is, because that's the kind of person most comfortable to much of the electorate.

Gender, race, religion or no religion, that has never entered my equation. I'd say the same thing if someone came out and said their nominee had to be white and a man. That limits the field and may very well pass over the most qualified.

And yes, elections are beauty contests. Charisma definitely plays a major part, but not the whole. JFK over Nixon, no contest on the charisma part. Reagan vs. Carter, same thing. Bill Clinton vs. G.H.W. Bush, Bill had it, Bush didn't. Same in 1996, Bill vs. Dole. Gore was a statue in 2000 although G.W. didn't have much charisma either. More than Gore. Obama had charisma all over McCain and again over Romney. Folks have describe Hillary in 2016 as coming over as a wet mop, aloof and elitist. Trump, what he had I wouldn't put into the charismatic column. At least to the majority of Americans. Trump did and was able to energize his people ten fold over what Hillary was able to to.

From the outside it looked like an energized campaign against a ho hum campaign.

Three questions of yours above are laced with supposition.
I'm not surprised.

Moses supposes his toeses are roses
But Moses supposes erroneously
And Moses, he knowses his toeses aren´t roses
As Moses supposes his toeses to be
Moses supposes his toeses are roses

A Rose is a rose
A Nose is a nose
A Toese is a toese
Hupidubidu! (ehehehehe)

I wanted to provide the utube of the song and dance bit I have no clue how to do that. LOL

Why does this matter to you is the better question.

Perhaps, a little bit of information may shine a little light on the GOP problem that was asked of you...

From what I understand, It's not easy being either a black conservative or a black Republican. They tend to be rather unpopular with those who think they really shouldn't be either conservative or Republican based on the color of their skin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_..._United_States

snippet

Moreover, black conservatives – especially black Republicans – are often accused of being Uncle Toms.

Ebony in their May 2001 "100+ Most Influential Black Americans" issue, did not include a number of influential African Americans such as Thomas Sowell, Shelby Steele, Armstrong Williams, Walter Williams and, most notably, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

The Economist described the exclusion of Justice Thomas from the list as spiteful.

I watched the coverage of the attempted take down of Clarence Thomas. Now Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas

Very similar to what I recently watched... the attempted take down of Brett Kavanaugh. Now Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh

Roseann:)

Maybe I do. I have no use for those who are blatantly racist, xenophobic or sexist.

You forgot to put those names in the basket of deplorables!

https://www.merriam-webster.com/new...rters-are-in-a-basket-of-deplorables-20160910

Hillary Clinton’s use of the word deplorables when describing “half of Trump supporters” sent many people to the dictionary to look up the word.

At a fund-raiser in New York, on Friday night Clinton said:

"To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it."

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/deplorable

1 : deserving censure or contempt

Roseann:)

Yikes....but OK. Right Wing Little woman stays at home, I'll accept that. Are there other people not represented in the incoming GOP Congress?

Proud Right Wing Little (5'1" tall) who stayed home to raise children. Husband wanted me to work, told him I would agree to work. But, we would work different shifts. He would be the "babysitter" when I was at work. Plus, he would need to share the household chores. He no longer wanted me to work.

With all your dictionary work and all I assume you have come across the idea that personal anecdote does not serve as evidence of much. Do address TD on this matter, as he is the one who claims all the GOP Congressman are white men because Republican women choose to stay home.

It doesn't matter if women want to stay home with their children but it doesn't mean that women ( or minorities ) shouldn't work in the House or Senate or other positions in government, either.

And yet they are OK with a philanderer liar. Kind of ignoring some of the commandments there. ;)

According to the narrative of the bible... Nebuchadnezzer king of Babylon a pagan (who did not follow the commandments) was given dominion by God over many nations including Israel.

Nebuchadnezzer eventually became a true believer in the One True God of Israel.

Perhaps, Trump is beyond redemption. Perhaps, he is not beyond redemption. According to the biblical narrative only God knows that answer.

Would be in the bottom, below Mississippi, on what metric?

Swedish economists at Timbro.

Knowing Europe as I do, and having lived in Sweden, Finland, Germany to list just three of the many EU countries I’ve resided in, there is no question when compared to the US... their best EU nations do suck that badly.

What do you expect from countries that make upward mobility massively difficult?

I think we'd all be surprised and disappointed if we truly understood our own prejudices. At least that's what I expect I'd find out. And even really motivated and intelligent people aren't immune. I read a study a few years ago and it simply recorded how tall CEOs were in the Fortune 500. You can guess the answer - well above average typically. There's no genetic basis for that result, just that tall people project power and confidence versus short people - at least that's what our prejudices tell us. These were board members HIGHLY motivated to pick only on merit and they just...didn't.

I'm sure at some level I at least project my biases and prejudices on potential leaders, and I expect that's the normal behavior, as much as we try not to....

You have the option of ignoring all the dictionary work. I agree, a personal anecdote does not serve as evidence.

I have no need to address TD's opine that Republican women choose to stay home.

I was responding to your response to TD... "Yikes....but OK. Right Wing Little woman stays at home, I'll accept that."

Which was your personal ancedote concerning the Republican women TD mentioned.

I was simply sharing my experience as a woman who made the choice to stay home to raise children using your personal ancedote.

You surely don't have a problem with that, do you?

Roseann:)

OK, so you have nothing. As I figured.

BTW, can you cite any data on upward mobility in the U.S. versus these European socialist hellholes?

That was not my personal anecdote, as is clear by the words printed. It was a response to another person's post. I'm surely not having a problem here, in spite of your efforts to cause one. ;)

That's a completely unfair characterization of Gillibrand. Before she was appointed to fill the empty seat she won two races for the House, the first time in a heavily GOP district - 2-1 GOP. She also ran and won her last Senate race by the highest margin in New York state history. I don't have an opinion about her as a candidate, but no need to make up crap as if she lucked into the seat and is a political incompetent. She's a good politician - everything she has done confirms that.

She did luck into the seat and is a political incompetent. just consider
her political instincts & concede the point.
1) Kirsten Gillibrand actually invited the Columbia 'mattress girl' Emma Sulkowicz, to the SOTU.
*******************************************************************************************
She praised Sulkowicz & was inspired by Emma who made her voice heard. 'Ms. Sulkowicz’s mattress-carrying project
symbolizes “the burden she carries every single day as long as her rapist is still on campus.
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jan/26/kirsten-gillibrand-blasted-decision-invite-columbi/
*******************************************************************************************
The decision to invite her was foolish as it elevated an unproven allegation to a cause celebre; This guy was
found innocent by all investigations. Gillibrand should have been censored by the Senate. Nungesser had a very
good case of liable. He needs to sue both the stupid Senator and the mattress girl.
It takes stories like this to remind me that the state of new york sent the likes of a lightweight like gillibrand
to the US senate.

2) Read this article about the 'The Madame Defarge of New York' Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has no regard for truth.
https://www.city-journal.org/kirsten-gillibrand-16191.html

It gives a birds eye view of Gillibrand's career from her being the first Democrat to demand that Al Franken resign to
telling the New York Times that Bill Clinton should have resigned the presidency she sure showed an ability to leave
the reservation. From her amplifying Sulkowicz’s claims and helping raise them to national awareness to her
her stating Christine Blasey Ford’s claims are the “hallmarks of truth. This person continues to throw
her previously stated beliefs under the bus & jumps to stupid conclusions before the facts come out.
Gillibrand has FEEBLE political instincts & even the Democrats are aware of this,

For some reason you're ignoring her history in elections, where the rubber of political instincts meet the road.

I'll leave it here because I'm really not defending her, and she wouldn't make it ON a list of my most admired Democratic politicians. I'd just suggest it's better to condemn her politics like you did above than make an argument contradicted by all the evidence, e.g. that bolded sentence at the end.

FWIW, from what little I've read about her by others on the left is they don't trust her as a person of good will and actual principles. I believe she went from an A rating from NRA to an F when she transitioned from GOP heavy House district to the Senate, for example.

Agree with everything posted except Gillibrand being a top notch vote getter. New York Reps. Carolyn Maloney, Kirsten
Gillibrand and Steve Israel along with Caroline Kennedy were considered. Everyone of them regardless
of ability would have had a landslide victory in NY State. If Paterson would have nominated you
you would have won. It's NY, that's why carpetbaggers like Bobby Kennedy & Mrs. Clinton picked NY an area
where they had no local connections.

It is strange.
Sanders and Biden atop the who they want to win list.

I don't think Sanders has the chance now, as that ship has already sailed and he's been sinking further into demagoguery over the last two years. Biden on the other hand is.. is.. a joke at this point. If he wants to even begin to get my attention, much less my vote. He's going to need to shift his policies and jump ship from his party, for starters.

I sure you're correct, there are biases in our subconscious that we don't realize. Yes too on Trump and his use of the media. Who knows how much free media time he received by calling into or appearing on almost all the morning talk shows on a daily basis. Even the ones that were against him. Trump was like that old showman, all publicity is good, good, bad, indifferent doesn't matter. No publicity is bad. Keep you name the first thing all news report starts with.
