Game of Thrones season 7. [Spoilers]

My son told me that it's akin to a bunch of people playing D&D, they look at the clock, it's 1:00am and everyone has to go to work in the morning... time to wrap this thing up.

You just call it quits for the night and start up again next session. There's no "wrap things up", it takes months to complete campaigns.

I know, that was a bit blatant.

Carrier raven from Eastwatch to Dragonstone should have took a few days at least.

Dragon flight from D-stone to the far north.... over 2000 miles... well dragons may be fast but they're not jet aircraft, that should have taken a couple of days minimum.

Plot teleportation. :)

Everytime you go to a new town, the first thing you do is activate the teleportation crystal. You don't want to have to spend time running back and forth between places you've already been, lol.

I can't, because I haven't read them. I know it's a fault in the comparison, but I've got about five hundred other books on my reading list first...

I've read the first two... they're long, and at times a bit tedious in excessive detail. Mean to read the rest but haven't gotten around to it.... they're not a quick read.

I started watching GoT a few years ago. I got into the story, found the characters compelling, the show well cast and the cinematography and sets were well done and visually appealing. There were two episodes that lost me. In one, a female character gives birth to an evil black cloud and in the other episode, I had difficulty with the eggs and dragons and sleeping in the fire with the eggs. I;m going to revisit the series when I can score some more maryjane!

Fair enough. You should know though, that the time and space warping isn't an issue in the books like they are in the tv shows.

The 7th season has more or less been tainted by the stupidity of the show runners to do a 7 episode season, when actually they overtly need 3 ten-episode seasons to finish the show. As such, in order to get in the content they have to make characters openly violate the rules of the world (they basically have teleporting abilities at this point), there's so much going on it's hard to process what it means, and it is basically starting to turn into Lost (In case there's any Lost fans, I mean this in a pejorative sense).

There's too much to discuss in the 7th season in one post, but what I've said here more or less covers the serious problems with this season. I love GoT, but this is the first season that has contained major plot errors and breaks the rules set by the show. It's still good, but it has major issues.

It's not an issue in the books because what's happening now hasn't been written yet

Right, but wherever the TV show has used the books for material there has not been issues with time/space warping.

Which plot errors and which rules have been broken? Just curious.

Rumor is that either
Sansa
or
Littlefinger
dies tonight.

I expect it to be

Littlefinger, I think both Arya and Sansa are wise to him. He needs to get killed in the worst way

Over 20 years later, finally, 100% confirmation R+L=J

Fantastic finale. They better not make us wait two years to finish this.

I thought that the writing was much better this week.

A couple thoughts:

This season seems to want to be clever...maybe to make up for the accelerated pace and compression of time.

So...last episode, when Arya basically threatened Sansa but then handed her the dagger, was some disguised message about Littlefinger. I guess. Anyway, no great loss. I never liked that weasel anyway.

That whole thing with the "summit meeting" was an excuse for the writers to re-acquaint old friends and enemies. But ultimately, I felt like a ping pong ball.

"We need to stop fighting" "Why?" "Because of the other bad guys" "LOL Child stuff" "Oh, yeah? Look at this" "GAAAH!!" "Okay...I see your point...but..." "No way" "Good-bye" "DAMN!!"

And then...

"I hate you" "And I hate you" "You killed my kids" "I loved your kids" "Then KILL me!" "Whew!" "You're pregnant"

Next thing we know...

"We'll fight TOGETHER!!" "Awesome!"

However...

"HA HA HA HA!!! Suckers!!" "Then KILL me!" "Whew!" "Good-bye Sis"

Give me a break, already!!

But that dead dragon taking down the wall was freaking awesome!!

Wow, this season has been pretty heavy duty stuff - lots of good characters getting killed off.

Dammit, they've breached the wall! (Okay, more than breached it - they've demolished it)
C'mon John Snow - rebuild that wall and make the Night King pay for it!

Snow was rather foolhardy in risking the lives of his buddies just to grab a zombie - and his buddies were pretty stupid to go along into a deathtrap. If that guy had a flame-vision of hundreds of thousands of undead marching, you'd think he'd have been smart enough to know such a huge force was more than a match for them.

Danaerys was really overconfident with her dragons - and she paid the price by losing one. Not only that, but now that White Walkers have their undead Dragon, that's a total game-changer for them. If she hadn't given them that gift, they'd still be stuck on the wrong side of the wall.

I don't see why the White Walkers can't swim - they should at least be able to sail on boats, to get the hell out of there. Even if they can't swim, they can obviously fly (dragon), so why not make a bunch of undead birds to fly past that wall?

But now that I think about it...

don't you think the end was a bit of an Auntie Climax?

As far as we know, Jon has only done the deed with Ygritte, so there may not have actually been any climax.

She'll get a bit of Aegon her face when they figure it out.

Pretty funny.

We are forced into these logic puzzles because, after seven seasons, we know a thing or two about the characters and want them to fit into what has been established. In actuality, the writers are dealing with their own logic puzzle, trying to force the characters into situations simply because they care about the shock, not seven seasons worth of storytelling.

There it is, that and now they say that the last season is going to take three years because we are just supposed to suck it up.

The way this show is ending is deeply disappointing because of bad choices made at the top.
