Eviction map

The country was never shut down. Only a few states and regions. Even then, the White House pushed incessantly against closing down at all, and started pressuring people to either deny or ignore the facts, and open too soon. Other countries are not having an eviction problem like this. This is an American problem almost exclusively. And it is not a symptom of shutting down. It’s a symptom of failure to do so.
There is political spin, fudging on facts, misstatements and fabrications. This is none of those. This is the Big Lie. There is no part of this which can be taken as reasonable or factual. It is a bald attempt to deceive without any support at all.

I give you this much. You have to have courage to throw something like this out. Either that or you are

It's not a good scenario. I feel awful for anyone who fears eviction, especially with kids. But, landlords cannot go on forever not receiving rent either. They have bills and usually a mortgage to pay too.

it's a heads I lose, tails you win sort of scenario. The tenants, having lost their jobs, can't pay the rent. Evict them, and you still get no rent. Let them stay, and you don't get any rent. No rent, no money to pay taxes, insurance, mortgage.

Why do right wingers believe Labor as the least wealthy in our republic need their unemployment benefits reduced instead of the minimum wage increased during a pandemic?

Um, nope. No tenants is better than non-paying tenants who still use the utilities, may damage property, there's at least normal wear and tear on the property and appliances, no annoyances, and great privacy and peace & quite during this summer.

Do I miss the income? Yes. But it's not like I'm doing much anyway...I'm not eating out, I'm not planning any horse shows (most are cancelled), not planning any real getaways...will continue to ride and horse camp with friends. I'm planning a drive down to Crater Lake in the next couple of weeks. So I'm being careful with my $ anyway.

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

Good question. From the point of view of the landlord, the business owner, the venture capitalist, who are the ones the right wingers think they favor, if the customer, the renter, the client has no money, then business has no market.

If people are being evicted from their living quarters, then the landlords/mortgage holders no longer have an income. If the landlords have no income, then they can't pay their mortgages. If the bank takes back the property, then the landlord still has no income and the bank has a worthless property. If the landlord can't pay the taxes, then local governments have no income.

Clearly, the solution to all of that is money in the hands of the people via unemployment insurance or jobs with a living wage.
Anything else leads to economic hardship for everyone.

You clearly haven't had to deal with owning a vacant property subject to break ins, vandalism, occupation by homeless. The property is much better off when occupied even if there is some wear and tear

And, where does the landlord pay utilities? I haven't rented in a while, but I don't remember not having to pay for electricity and the like not ever. Well, water. Some landlords pay for water so the tenants won't let the landscaping dry up.

Raise the minimum wage so Labor can afford to work safely during a pandemic!

No that's not necessarily true. I have a single unit, a bungalow, on my property. And my property is entirely fenced and the gate locked when no one's home (it's in the lease). Now I just keep it locked all the time. I'm loving it.

True I did charge for utilities, it's been since April, I forgot! But I dont have to do the billing. I dont have to worry about the W&D or fridge breaking down and having to be replaced. It's just so relaxing.

Cartoons do not an argument make.

Now, document your false claim that the country actually was shut down.

Document for us, which country in the world is leading the planet in corona virus infections.

Document for us all the careful management and clear planning by this White House.

Until then, you can let your cartoons do your thinking for you.

It looks like red states have the highest probable eviction rates.

Many cities could wind up looking like the poorer sections of Detroit. Abandoned houses and apartment buildings and boarded-up businesses.

The eviction hammer could happen anytime after this Friday.

Trump is golfing and McConnell says the Senate bill could take another 2 weeks. wtf? House Democrats passed their new stimulus bill over a month ago.

They extended the moratorium on evictions in WA St until Oct.

Texas as well and several other states.

That makes a nice symmetry. You didn't make an argument to refute.

Now, document your false claim that the country actually was shut down.
It's common knowledge, which puts the burden on you. The most you can say is that some things were not shut down. As an essential worker, I was able to see the empty streets in the middle of business hours.

Document for us, which country in the world is leading the planet in corona virus infections.
Defining terms, you could mean infections or proven infections. If it's the latter, then the country that has done the most tests. If the former, then China, not that they will admit it.

Again, why are you asking me to do your job?

Her are some points off the top of my head. The travel ban to China was huge. The task force has been very important and using the Vice President gave it clout. In January, who knew Dr. Fauci's name? Integrating the private sector/government response has been very helpful in getting supplies and treatments to the points they are needed. He absolutely bailed NYC out of a crisis. That meltdown is on Cuomo and deBlasio. Generally, he has worked well with Governors who are the true front line authorities, though there are exceptions, eg Cuomo.

Until then, you can let your cartoons do your thinking for you.
At least I was thinking, not reciting. Do you expect a pat on the head or are you holding out for a cookie?

I think most people would prefer a big cardboard box to moving to W. Virginia. :lamo

Good people in West Virginia, but not a wealthy state. Although very easy to live within your means there. I'd rather live their than 'the Bronx" hell hole you are so fond of.

What if neither parent of their children don't smoke? It takes more than half a brain, (like in W.Va.) to survive with a family and no income.

You were the one whining about the high cost of cigarettes ($13) in the Bronx. Easy remedy for that is give up smoking. But for your average entitled welfare queens complaining about the cost of living and wanting another freebie including not paying rent.... well, not exactly something the dumbskis can figure out for themeselves----and probably why they will end up evicted eventually.

You're so thoughtless about this situation, but it's Trump 'brain-fog' you're suffering from.

Oh sure! I just don't "feel enough" do I? Because feeling our way through life is always the answer isn't it?

So all 50 states were on lockdown at the same time?

I call BS.

I see your :bs

What part of Governors were ultimately in charge was unclear?

There was no reason to ever lock down Montana or Wyoming. They were anyway,

Yes, if you have a bungalow on your property, protected by a fence, then you're most likely OK to have it vacant and not worry so much about vandalism and break ins. If, on the other hand, you have a ten unit apartment on the other side of town, you'd be much better off to have someone in it, even if they are jobless for now.

In those cases, there are still other tenants there. THey can call the cops, or you, or the property manager. Or someone can hang out there...do your 'work from home' there. Have your property manager on-site, pay someone who's out of work, etc.

I'd take the fewer headaches, wear and tear, and possible damage any day.

Right now, we are having a heat wave and I can enjoy hanging out topless on my front porch with no worries. (It was always private but you coudnt guarantee somebody wouldnt wander around the side of the house looking for you.)

Just IMO.

People who live "outside Seattle" consider a couple of days at 90 a "heat wave." Here, we call it a cool down.

and I can go outside topless, and no one says a thing. Sounds sexist to me.

I once had a rental that was vacant for a time. It was a house, not an apartment. That might have been different. I might not have had some *&#!!!! yahoos break in and pour paint on the carpet.

What do people get out of damaging others' property? I just don't understand that.
