Teachers haven't worked for most of this year. You have them all returning in the fall. When? All teachers or the ones who are willing to risk their lives to teach in schools under the national standard established by DeVoss and the DOA? Oh, wait. There is no national guidance for school COVID safety. I could easily stretch this out further but I don't know that you have the concept.
No matter, teachers are critical to the nation. Most of us wouldn't do. Most of us probably couldn't do the job. I couldn't. It's long hard work. The pay is meh and teachers often get shat upon by society in general. Is America going to take care of its teachers and protect them so that they can do their jobs? I'm not seeing that across the board. But you are telling me teachers will return in the fall, no worries. You know something I don't. Share it with us.
Knowing what we do know would you as a teacher undertake a large longterm financial commitment right now? I wouldn't and in fact, we have to wonder if a lending institution would be willing to make the loan.
Colleges and universities have cut back faculty and staff like mad and are continuing to do so. You knew that, right?
Medical coders in many cases are working reduced hours and performing gig work to keep their benefits. You know, of course, that frequently medical coding is assigned offshore because it is more profitable to pay a third world person to do the coding. Also, and this is a big reality, when hospitals, clinics and such stop performing elective surgeries and procedures because of COVID there is significantly less coding required. Fewer coders work full time and some not much at all. They are not "absolutely working".
Transportation workers including local transportation, rental car agency staff (Hertz filed Chapter 11, but you knew that), everything connected to air travel including TSA and aircrews, everyone working on the ramp, Sky Caps, gate agents, food service, porters, taxis drivers, Uber, and an almost endless list of jobs and careers related to air travel have been and are continuing to hurt tremendously.
Farmers were hurt by Trump's trade wars, farm debt has increased, climate changes have been brutal to farming. The suicide rate of farmers has increased.
You are telling us that advertising billing is not down? Show me. Restaurants, owners, managers and staff are doing well? Where do you live? Retail sales are hurting as well. You don't know about major retail closings and bankruptcies?
Sports teams, venues, networks, advertisers, vendors and everything connected to sports from local schools to colleges and universities to national teams have lost or will lose billions - and you don't think anyone has lost jobs except college kids.
