Nobody is stopping YOU from "giving" to the poor. Go ahead if it makes YOU feel good.

Perhaps I don't need to feel good about giving. I like to keep the hounds at bay. Hey, it's what the extremely wealthy do who buy the politicians. Give the masses j-u-s-t enough to appease them.
Too much, they want a lot more. Too little, they take more. It's really a form of selfishness. That's fine by me.

Spoken like a true liberal--- just keep them on the verge of being miserable, and keep telling them you are the only one's willing to help them so they vote your way. In other words, "don't teach the man to fish for himself" -- just feed him for a day... or one day at a time.

Maybe that is why the Dems are trying to get assistance for those out of work. I will also remind you people are Still being laid off and just telling people to go back to work is not an option for many Americans. I think many conservatives are fooling themselves into thinking if everything just opened up all would be fine, Texas and Florida are prime examples of that being a false thought. As I said we will either deal with the virus in a smart way or the virus will continue to harm and kill Americans and with that I consider any leader that ignores the facts for personal gain at the cost of lives to be a Traitor and those that support the death of Americans to be the same.

Since when has there not been assistance for those out of work?

I have been getting email notifications from this job search site for years:

Job Search | Indeed

Every day every other email I get (and I get a lot of them) is a notification for a job that needs to be filled, more than ever. And as much as I hear about libs talking about "living wages", every job that requires a minimum amount of skill is in the $15/hour range. There is something fishy going on here, or you guys don't know what you are talking about. One thing I know for sure, this COVID 19 thing is your latest excuse to bitch about Republicans.

Just wanted to remind the right-wingers that if one does not give the poor something to keep them out of misery, the poor my make it so you don't have anything at all to share.
In short: I'd rather give someone a twenty than have them out to get me for a thousand.

I didn’t know the poor were such dicks.

This eviction map will reflect the future crime spike map.

This should bode well for Trump's reelection plans.

As usual you missed reality by a country mile ......

Teachers haven't worked for most of this year. You have them all returning in the fall. When? All teachers or the ones who are willing to risk their lives to teach in schools under the national standard established by DeVoss and the DOA? Oh, wait. There is no national guidance for school COVID safety. I could easily stretch this out further but I don't know that you have the concept.

No matter, teachers are critical to the nation. Most of us wouldn't do. Most of us probably couldn't do the job. I couldn't. It's long hard work. The pay is meh and teachers often get shat upon by society in general. Is America going to take care of its teachers and protect them so that they can do their jobs? I'm not seeing that across the board. But you are telling me teachers will return in the fall, no worries. You know something I don't. Share it with us.

Knowing what we do know would you as a teacher undertake a large longterm financial commitment right now? I wouldn't and in fact, we have to wonder if a lending institution would be willing to make the loan.

Colleges and universities have cut back faculty and staff like mad and are continuing to do so. You knew that, right?

Medical coders in many cases are working reduced hours and performing gig work to keep their benefits. You know, of course, that frequently medical coding is assigned offshore because it is more profitable to pay a third world person to do the coding. Also, and this is a big reality, when hospitals, clinics and such stop performing elective surgeries and procedures because of COVID there is significantly less coding required. Fewer coders work full time and some not much at all. They are not "absolutely working".

Transportation workers including local transportation, rental car agency staff (Hertz filed Chapter 11, but you knew that), everything connected to air travel including TSA and aircrews, everyone working on the ramp, Sky Caps, gate agents, food service, porters, taxis drivers, Uber, and an almost endless list of jobs and careers related to air travel have been and are continuing to hurt tremendously.

Farmers were hurt by Trump's trade wars, farm debt has increased, climate changes have been brutal to farming. The suicide rate of farmers has increased.

You are telling us that advertising billing is not down? Show me. Restaurants, owners, managers and staff are doing well? Where do you live? Retail sales are hurting as well. You don't know about major retail closings and bankruptcies?

Sports teams, venues, networks, advertisers, vendors and everything connected to sports from local schools to colleges and universities to national teams have lost or will lose billions - and you don't think anyone has lost jobs except college kids.

Well, good move to shove the whole goal post aside and go on a tangent.....you literally said that these people were not working, which was a ****ing lie....

Now it's, well they are working, but limited hours......

What's next, well they are working full hours, but not getting paid right?

What's after that, they are getting paid right, but they make ****ty decisions? AT least that we can agree on....

I didn’t know the poor were such dicks.

The poor are such dicks?? Many human beings of all kinds can be selfish assholes. Neither party or race or gender have a perfect record of kindness and humanity. (Not that I'm proud of that fact) The answer to a perfect society is no answer at all. Too many variables.

Move to West Virginia where the rent is cheaper, get a job at a car wash or at Walmart, give up smoking expensive cigarettes they can't afford --- basically find a way to live within their means like everyone else with half a brain has already figured out how to do. This isn't rocket surgery.

I'd like to live in the Hamptons--- can't really afford it, so I live where I can afford.

Easy peasy.

I think most people would prefer a big cardboard box to moving to W. Virginia. :lamo

What if neither parent of their children don't smoke? It takes more than half a brain, (like in W.Va.) to survive with a family and no income. You're so thoughtless about this situation, but it's Trump 'brain-fog' you're suffering from.

Again, not saying everything should or can open up again. And there's not enough money to indefinitely pay people to not work.

Democrats want everything shut down for as long as possible mostly because it hurts the economy, and by extension the president.

You have been listening to right-wing propaganda too long. The Dems have said time and time again that we were opening up too soon, trump ignored it and several Governor's followed their marching orders, had we done what we should have we right now would be on the road to recovery both health-wise and economically. That disproves your conspiracy theory that they are working against emproving the economy. Who has hurt the economy is trump and his push for political reasons is trump and those that followed his orders, but hey even some Liberal States made the same mistake. Not to mention people doing stupid things like not wearing a mask or social distancing. Look, everyone is tired of this virus but we have made our bed and have to deal with it, and unless you want the economy to collapse we have to ensure people can pay their rent and feed their family the only way that can happen under the current conditions is to help them.

This is what happens when you shut a country down.
*when you abandon pandemic emergency planning*

Fixed. Dont forget what happened and who utterly failed.

Thank you Anthony for being instrumental in the destruction of so much!

Peter schiff made this point on Joe Rogan, when people expect the feds to bail them out then they don’t do a proper cost benefit analysis. The total lockdowns were never necessary nor were they ever intended to stop anyone from getting infected, but when the feds just pump the economy full of money then people will go along with it.

I’ve had massive amounts of savings and have worked full time this entire crisis. If you were complaining about being safe from a 99.9 percent survivable disease and staying home then good for you. I took the risk and now I’m not in danger of this.

I’m hoping for forclosures since I want to buy a house

You don't own already what with yer stellar economic management?

I was deliberately being provocative in response to your equally-provocative TDS "traitor" comment. Leave that crap for the trolls. Either we start from a place where people of good will can differ, or you can paint my side as worshiping some kind of death-cult and I paint your side as willing to destroy the economy for political gain.

I think we should balance the danger from Covid with the danger to keeping the economy shut down too much for too long. Find a balance. I think we are actually pretty close on this.

No, I’m in my Mid 20s, and the property our rent is on the waterfront, is absurdly low priced, in the neighborhood I could never afford it otherwise. And I’m able to keep it because it’s a unique property and I personally know the landlord. And because of my absurdly low rent I’m stockpiling money for down payment on a house. So actually my economic management is pretty sound.

Better than what I was doing in my mid-twenties, I will tell you that lol

That's good, either way you have to pay I bought my first house at 25 and have only owned two because I hate to move.

That reads very much like, "Renting from mom and dad."

Just saying.

This is what happens when you shut a country down.

The country was never shut down. Only a few states and regions. Even then, the White House pushed incessantly against closing down at all, and started pressuring people to either deny or ignore the facts, and open too soon.

Other countries are not having an eviction problem like this.

This is an American problem almost exclusively.

And it is not a symptom of shutting down.

It’s a symptom of failure to do so.

I do not live with my parents. I rent a wonderful little cottage.
