Every Leftist Voted Against Pro-Growth Middle Class Tax Cut [W:139]

The discussion actually started out as working and middle class people. Not really who the poor are.

The new tax bill siphons the most money FROM the working/middle class, and Republicans plan to pay for the deficits by defunding programs that help the poor.
Wriggle and squiggle all you like, but you can't weasel your way into some safe space where you get to separate working class, middle class and the poor into separate compartments where they don't touch each other or have an impact on each other's lives.

Token tax cuts that last four or five years and then revert to tax hikes, wow...interesting piece of bait and switch.
Why not just be honest like Paul Ryan?

I was more or less joking. But, the left can't deny that the poor's standard of living rises exponentially. What difference does it make how they got their big screen tvs and smartphones?

That's all you know how to do, paint yourself into a corner and then say "I was just joking, har har!"
I have friends who do that all the time. They're also the kind of people who walk into a public men's room whistling some nonsense tune because they're nervous.
They can't tell you the name of the tune they're whistling because it's just nervous whistling...really loud whistling...really loud and slightly obnoxious, and not the least bit
musical.

Here's a piece of advice:
Since it's obvious that YOUR standard of living and YOUR financial situation is pretty moist and sweet, why don't you spend a little time on at least ONE knee being grateful for whatever it is that got you there and stop cheering for policies that tear apart the lives of people less fortunate than yourself?
Even if every penny you have came from the sweat of your own brow, you should still be damn grateful for having the opportunity to place yourself above what a growing number of people face every single waking moment...the wolf at the door.

If you earned all of what you have, you have every right to be damn proud of yourself, but why on Earth would you derive joy from pissing on those down below, which is generally the impression you're giving here in this forum.
I don't get it, what IS the payoff for you?

Do you really think poor people are standing around demanding you fork over?
Do you honestly believe that tens of millions of people would prefer welfare over the chance to earn their own keep the way you earned yours?
Do you really think that welfare is so wonderful that people actually have lobster and Cadillacs and fur coats?
See, this is precisely WHY I am convinced that you never earned a dime on your own, because you'd know that was utter bull****, and you would know that the most generous welfare program in the country still isn't enough to keep body and soul together.

Okay, now it's your turn to go back to mumbling something about my Kool-Aid.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybe...ajor-progrowth-middle-class-tax-cuts-n2424776

Every single Democrat who cast votes on the bill in both legislative chambers voted no. 'Resistance' now requires consigning your working class and middle-income constituents to higher tax burdens, apparently. Thanks to Democrats' unified failure, more than 80 percent of taxpayers will see an immediate cut...

That's what the left calls, "looking out for the little guy."

It's been a long time since the middle class got some relief from big govt oppressive taxes.

Basically AGAIN because the middle class won't see much - in fact some middle class will actually pay more. The "Tax Cut" bill is for the uber wealthy - how much does Trump stand to gain??? Millions. But your're purposely ignoring actual facts. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid.
Another post to say the same thing. Hmmm

By the way, WHO ARE all these so called "LEFTISTS", anyway?
For the most part, I see a lot of moderates on both left and right, and then I see a small and concentrated pack of low information types who don't know, don't want to know and are scared to know, FACTS.
Those people are the ones who, for the most part, squawk endlessly about "LEFTISTS", as if somehow the IWW and Communist Party USA has suddenly roared back to life with tens of millions of members.
Smells like pure projection to me because the only antiquated extremist groups that have roared back to life in the last few years have been the Klan and the Nazis, which are both aligned with the extreme right.

Are there really REAL ACTUAL "LEFTISTS" in America?
Yeah...there really ARE.
There's a few hundred thousand ignorant punk kids who think it's cool to wear black masks and march around breaking stuff and screaming slogans.
They seldom vote, because they're convinced that all parties are corrupt and that voting doesn't accomplish anything, and they dream of the day that bloody revolution comes to the streets so that they can feel vindicated.
They didn't even support Bernie Sanders when he announced, despite the old man insisting he was "still a socialist" (even though he's really been an FDR New Deal Liberal for the last 30 years).
They yawned and called him a sellout, because they could tell he was mostly a mainstream liberal, and not one of them.

The thing is, I see a bunch of misinformed and uninformed cowards who want to blame their problems on some imaginary cabal of "leftists" when in reality they don't realize that they are being played like a ten dollar whorehouse piano.

Show me...please...show me in some kind of count or spreadsheet, or census or something...show me the gigantic number of powerful LEFTISTS.
I've looked around, I really have.
Am I supposed to see a vast ocean of hammer and sickle bumper stickers or something?
Is there a Karl Marx meeting at the Kiwanis club and I've been missing out?
Do "leftists" have a secret handshake?

The more snide and sneering you get, the more I enjoy pointing out what an out of touch elitist you are.
Being able to pick up a twenty dollar used smartphone and use free WiFi at a McDonald's or similar venue to access Craigslist does not signify a "higher standard of living".
The 1970's equivalent would be finding two quarters on the ground and being able to snatch a copy of today's paper.
Hooo boy, wow...

This is getting tiresome and boring, because your points are weak, your logic fails and you consistently demonstrate that you live a life in which you are insulated
from the realities that the average working person is only one paycheck away from.
Lucky for you...maybe you earned it, in which case no one should sneer back, because you deserve that security.
Maybe you inherited it, again lucky for you.
Maybe you just live with Mom and Dad and don't have to pay for anything.
I really don't care, why should I, what would the payoff be, for me?

But you should know that the more you argue this case, the more you look like someone who doesn't ever have to worry about what stuff costs.
So why should anyone take your side as being well informed as to poverty and society's responsibility?
Sneering at society's most vulnerable shows a pretty **** set of values, so no matter how well off you may be, you're the trash, not the poor folks.

LOL. I had to stop reading when you called my an elitist. But I actually like it when you get all snide and sneering because it just means you have no argument.

I am grateful. And I am even more grateful because I came from poor parents and was poor myself in my younger years. I used to be a Democrat and I remember working for $2.65 per hour in 1978 and waiting for the minimum wage to go up so that I could earn more money. By 1981 it had gone all the way up to $3.35 per hour. That was an increase of $28 per week (woohoo) and you know what? I realized that if I was going to waste my life waiting for minimum wage to go up in order to make more money I was always going to be poor because minimum wage is minimum wage. I realized the Democratic way was poverty so I changed parties, grabbed the bull by the horn, and set out to earn more than minimum wage. I am where I am today because I'm a doer, not a taker and I refused to live in a cycle of poverty to carry on generation to generation. Liberalism does not work. It gives people a huge crutch to never have the incentive to make themselves better. It is a gimmee mentality of being jealous of the rich and thinking that the rich don't deserve it and that they should give some of it to me, even though I didn't do anything to earn it. They should just give it to me because it is their obligation to take care of me.

Your story is valid (for YOU) but in all honesty it is nevertheless the story of someone who failed at liberalism, and that in and of itself does not a representation of liberalism make.
All it does is detail what liberalism was to you and you only.

I've been a liberal my entire 61 years on this Earth.
Aside from 3 bags of groceries from a food bank during a rough patch when I was a student, I've never once been on welfare or food stamps.
Unlike you I didn't wait around for minimum wage to rise. I was able to get promoted.
Those minimum wage jobs, however, were enough for me to afford a 1 room flop, a crappy used truck, a phone and enough food.
In other words, even though they were minimum wage, they were opportunities, and I spent those opportunities learning how to move up.

I wouldn't dream of attempting to change your view of liberalism, it's too central to your defense mechanism that you use to characterize the less fortunate as takers.
The only disservice you do is to yourself, because I wager that you get taken on a regular basis by the REAL TAKERS.
After all, if someone is going to BE a "taker", most of the time they're going to try to be good at it, really good at it.

You identified YOURSELF with the quote:
"It gives people a huge crutch to never have the incentive to make themselves better. It is a gimmee mentality of being jealous of the rich and thinking that the rich don't deserve it and that they should give some of it to me, even though I didn't do anything to earn it." That's YOUR story, not mine.

You're the one that spent 1978 to 1981 being jealous of the wealthy and thinking that they should just give it to you.
I spent 1978 to 1981 as a keyboard player in a moderately successful rock band, and earning more on the side running a rehearsal space.
We did pretty well. We earned every penny and lived it up like the "rock stars" we were.

I spent every year since 1982 working in film and TV, starting out as a rookie on a local PBS show in Orange County, CA.
Even when my editing and duplication business got wiped out in the 1994 Northridge Quake, I didn't go on welfare.
I'm wealthy now, but I want my KIDS to have the kind of minimum wage opportunity that allows them to get a leg up and get on that ladder.
They'll do it too, but they need the OPPORTUNITY, the STARTING OUT opportunity.
Liberals don't want people to GIVE them STUFF, they want OPPORTUNITIES.

The trouble is, not only are you a failed liberal, you're also a failed conservative, because you have that tunnel vision problem.
By that I mean, if it didn't happen to you, you can't even see it.
It's like when Nancy Reagan was opposed to stem cell research, until Ronnie developed Alzheimer's, then suddenly she was for it.
It's like when Dick Cheney was against gay marriage, until his daughter came out. Then suddenly he was for it.

A REAL conservative takes an honest look at an issue and decides whether it deserves a bold stake or an abundance of caution.

The truth is, you don't know a single real life case of an actual liberal demanding free stuff, except yourself.
The reason you're such a soulless angry right wing paranoid is because you're ashamed at what a rotten liberal you were, so you're going to take it out on all the liberals you meet instead, to make yourself feel better.

Pro Tip: There are a lot of you out there.
Know why?
Because it really IS difficult to be a REAL liberal, it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of commitment to real principles.
Any jerk can just stand around pissing all over those less fortunate than themselves.
It takes no smarts and no dedication to principles whatsoever, it only takes a urine stream.

How does it siphon money from the middle class when the middle class are getting a tax cut? How much kool-aid have you drunk?

Good God you have the attention span of a parakeet, nay...a GOLDFISH.
They're going to PAY for those cuts by destroying Medicare and Social Security...and they're only just starting with those, by the way.
Pay attention.

LOL. I had to stop reading when you called my an elitist. But I actually like it when you get all snide and sneering because it just means you have no argument.

You mean I struck a nerve.
In your next post a few feet down you go into detail about your epic three year failed attempt at understanding liberalism through the lens of a minimum wage job, which you apparently sucked at because you seemed to think that only Democrats work at minimum wage jobs.
Have you ever talked to anyone who works at Wal-Mart?
Do you really think all those Wal-Mart workers are Democrats/liberals?
I got news for you, bubba.

Leftists must truly hate it when Americans get to keep more of the money they earned, huh. Hopefully leftists will run on the fact they voted against working families. By all means, keep up the good work.

If the only tax cuts were for the middle class, do you think Dems would have voted against it, or Reps for it? "Some relief" is right. "Most relief" is for the rich and corps. "Tax cuts" by Reagan and Bush2 resulted in greater % increases in the national debt than under Clinton, who ended up with a surplus, or Obama.

Correction:

Democrats voted against skyrocketing deficits.

Medicare and Social Security are on an unsustainable path. Even Democrats acknowledge this. By the way, where is it written in the tax plan that Medicare and Social Security are to be destroyed, or is that just your partisan opinion? Could you please link to the part of the tax plan that says this.

You know nothing but your partisan world. I started out being a poor Democrat. I didn't want to be a poor Democrat any longer. And, I had been in retail management for many decades so I know very well what a Walmart worker is like. By the way, Walmart workers earn about $3 more than minimum wage plus have benefits too. I actually have a friend who is a produce manager at Wallyworld.

I see you have bought the the C grabbers coolade
So my daughter will get ?20/month
Me a millionaire will get hundreds of thousands
Why do you think 198 out of 200 CEOs said they won't create jobs?
You are just spewing trickle down bile which every economist says is a scam.
We will see and what are you going to say then.

Although I hope $50000 a year high school jobs come back.
People like levinson (read him) say the peak was in the 70s. The world caught up, free market, thatcher, commie policies never got above 3%
I assume you are a corporate guy like I who knows 75% of costs are wages and benefits.
Guess what we did?
Why do you think the C grabber and his daughter haven't brought their business back to the good old USA?

Your master's "Pro growth middle class" tax cut is neither. It's payout time for him and his sponsors as they loot the country.

Spoken like a member of management.

Yep. I was in management for many decades and now own my own business. I have seen first hand all the people who are content with just getting by and never want to get ahead, unless someone just gives it to them.

wait so the tax bull was realy about cutting tax rate for most of us and charging the wealthy and large corporations more?

that is a relief i figured it was mostly a tax brake for those with the most money forcing us to pick up the slack for government spending and or cutting down on social services

Ahhh, so you've "traveled and seen a thing or two", have you?

My Navy wife (DISCLAIMER/DISCLOSURE: I am not the veteran in the family, I am merely the lucky six foot growth attached to the veteran.) actually had more LBFM stories than I ever heard from my male buddies. :slapme:

Hah! Now I haven't heard of women using that reference before!
