Elizabeth Warren releases DNA testing: she has Native American background

at the same time she just hit herself in the head with that pole as it came down.
6-10 generations ago. she isn't native american.

that would mean anyone with ancestors over here during that time is native american.
it is laughable.

She never claimed to be full Native American. She says that she remembers her mom telling her that she has Native American background. That’s all.

She never claim to be Native American. She says that she remembers her mother telling her that she had a native American background. That is what she put and her professional resumes. And that is what Trump was questioning: that she falsely use that information to get a head and her career.

But now it turns out it was not so false. Again, her claim was never that she was a full blooded Native American.

"There is no dispute that Warren formally notified officials at the University of Pennsylvania and then Harvard claiming Native American heritage after she was hired."

She didn't say she was american indian, but she officially notified the university where she was working at that she had american indian origins.
Afterwards, the universities claimed she was one of the "minority" teachers of the establishment.

To me, it sure seems like she exploited her 1.5% american indian origins at the workplace. Why else would she officially inform her higher-ups, if there wasn't anything to gain from this ?

I agree she never said "I'm 100% american indian". But still, you have to admit that "I have a native American background" and "I'm between 0.2% and 1.5% american indian" are not the same thing, well at least they don't carry the same message.

She kept the truth a little mysterious and vague in order to reap the benefits.

i just read the results at best shes 1/512....hahhaha thats enough to qualify as minority status. What a disgusting pig this woman is.

My wife is 12% Native American. More than many getting benefits. She has checked and been told that because she is not on any registry it could be criminal for her to try receive any.

Warren backed up her claim that she has Native American ancestry. The right wing now only looks amazingly foolish to keep harping on this after they have been proven wrong.

This result with its well-crafted and positively-spun narrative makes Warren look more lucky than honest.

I just heard this on TV, but have not yet been able to find it online. Elizabeth Warren has taken a DNA test, and it shows that she has native American background.

President Trump has slammed her claims to such background as self-serving lies to try to advance her career as a minority. His nickname for her has been “Pocahontas”, and he has challenged her to take a DNA test to prove it.

So she did.

Of course, facts and test results have never been anything to impress Trump or his base very much. If they have dismissed the unanimous consensus of every single scientific organization on the entire planet on global warming, and the unanimous claims of every single one of their own appointed intelligence agencies on Russian interference, what’s a flimsy little DNA test from Elizabeth Warren?

But what’s more interesting about this is what it says about her intentions: it definitely sounds like she is gearing up for a run in 2020. Surely she didn’t do this to just keep running for senator from Massachusetts.

Interesting.

Trump on July 5:"I will give you a million dollars to your favorite charity, paid for by Trump, if you take the test and it shows you're an Indian." Will he pony up?

Oh, so she is a "person of color" as academia proudly touted and went on record saying?
Even 1/1024 NA can make her a POC. Interesting.

She never claimed to be full Native American. She says that she remembers her mom telling her that she has Native American background. That’s all.

you are changing the argument.
you are creating a strawman. She claimed to be native american. We have documented evidence that she checked the box.
Harvard Law School in the 1990s touted Warren, then a professor in Cambridge, as being "Native American." They singled her out, Warren later acknowledged, because she had listed herself as a minority in an Association of American Law Schools directory. Critics note that she had not done that in her student applications and during her time as a teacher at the University of Texas.

She listed herself as a minority.

In order to qualify for that status she has to be able to qualify for tribal status.
in order to qualify for tribal status (to even become a minority) you need to have documented evidence that
you are in fact at least 1/16th to most tribes.

she is so far removed from that 1/16th that she is not an american indian.
she might have a very very very distant relative was but she is not.

Trump on July 5:"I will give you a million dollars to your favorite charity, paid for by Trump, if you take the test and it shows you're an Indian." Will he pony up?

she isn't a native american she lied about it.
that was obviously she does not qualify for native american status.

yes she has to register with a tribe.

She never claimed to be full Native American. She says that she remembers her mom telling her that she has Native American background. That’s all.

From what I've read, Warren's claims led people to believe she had significant NA ancestry and she benefited intangibly and perhaps tangibly by not disabusing anyone of the notion that her claims were nothing more than "lore".
Warren's hands are not clean, and this DNA test doesn't prove that she didn't exploit NAs for her own gain.

THAT is the nuanced issue. Not that suddenly, all the criticism needs to go away because she's supposedly, maybe, might have a drop of NA blood in her dna.

she isn't a native american she lied about it.
that was obviously she does not qualify for native american status.

That's not what the orange idiot said though. He doesn't believe she has an ounce of native american blood in her. The test proves otherwise.

Trump on July 5:"I will give you a million dollars to your favorite charity, paid for by Trump, if you take the test and it shows you're an Indian." Will he pony up?

Based on results, Warren does not qualify.

i just quoted what you said.

she isn't native american. she doesn't qualify. Trump was right.

she isn't native american. she doesn't qualify. Trump was right.

How much percentage of native american blood does one need to be native american???

An ounce? More like half a teaspoon.

According to most tribes, about 1/16...1/4 if you go to take advantage of their scholarship program.

I don't think Warren is applying for their scholarship. She is just mindlessly pandering for votes. Apparently these days you say anything enough and it's true. Just look at what a successful businessman Trump is what with dozens of failed businesses people still call him successful. I guess cons don't like getting played at their own game  Secondly Warren has more proof that she's native american than Trump has that he's a good businessman who knows how to run the country.

So that means anyone between her great-great-great-great grandmother to great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother is Native American. So she couldn't even qualify for tribal membership.

How much percentage of native american blood does one need to be native american???

Depends on the tribe, as some have already mentioned.
Further, we know that NA dna has representative proxies from South America, to best duplicate it.

Even at best, based on the rather speculative conclusions from this test, Warren has some Native American or South American DNA contributed 6 generations ago.
Does that make her a POC?

Look, I understand that Warren's "high cheekbones" and "lore" about being NA made her feel special and it certainly made her a standout in liberal academia, where she was happy to be a token. Obviously, academia used it to virtue signal, so both Warren and Harvard (iirc) benefited.

So what it comes down to, decades later, is character. Warren will never cop to her POC claims, and that she benefited on some levels. This test isn't going to obviate that.
Which is why it will continue to be an issue as she runs in 2020.
