Anyone who can't see this deserves what is coming. First they proved it with our nursing homes and now they are destroying our economy which will kill lots more than this pandemic. Not to mention the suffering this depression they are creating will cause. I will be just fine. I am over 60 and have lived my life. The people I feel sorry for are the young who will pay the price for this. Just like the Nazi party our 2 parties need to be stopped now. I would be surprised if Florida mismanaged this as badly as New York and reached similar death rates. It's possible, and would be tragic, but I'd be surprised.

New York was the pioneer for the entire country, why can't you seem to grasp that fact? New York was the first city, and it's an International hub for the whole country. You understand that much, right? New York had NO RELIABLE TESTS, New York had shortages of PPE! New York had no ICU beds left! Why can't you just a bit of logic? If anything Florida, Arizona, Texas and California had a huge head start on this virus and ONLY because of New York!!

(Reuters) - More than four dozen hospitals in Florida reported that their intensive care units (ICUs) have reached full capacity on Tuesday as COVID-19 cases surge in the state and throughout the country.

Hospital ICUs were full at 54 hospitals across 25 of Florida’s 67 counties, according to data published on Tuesday morning by the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration. More than 300 hospitals were included in the report, but not all had adult ICUs.

New York was not the first state to have coronavirus patients. That was Washington. But Seattle's mayor was not stuck with a ridiculous number of cases filling up too many ICU beds for everybody with COVID-19 before that happened in New York City. So the media has largely ignored its origin to play up New York as the first state to have problems controlling it. I am sure the conservative media jumped on every opportunity to make Andrew Cuomo look like the nation's worst governor when everything was stacked against him.

Most of the new cases are young people who catch it at bars and parties where all safety is thrown to the wind. They never should have opened bars and clubs until cases were much more reduced.

ArizonUH is about as bad as FloriDUH and my state of CaliforniUH isn't fairing much better.

No, its pandemic response 101. Every country in the world ran the same play. Perhaps they do were in on this so called "failed coup attempt"..... I am sorry but that is a statement that borders on delusional.

The reality is the shut downs began in the private sector. Employers sent their workers home rather than allow the workplace to become a hot spot. The economy, which is based upon demand, is going to shut down on its own. Without any government intervention, restaurants, bars, gyms, hotels, airlines were going to see a huge fall off in their business. Sweden tried to avoid shutting down. They had huge infections and deaths per capital PLUS recession.

What America did wrong was open back up too soon. We squandered the time in the shut down to get our act together, which should have included increased testing on demand, with robust contract tracing. We should have adhered to the CDC guidelines to re-open slowly. New York did so, and actually seems to have had good results. Most of the rest of the country, not so much.

Had Trump led, followed or gotten out of the way and led the experts orchestrate the US response, 10's of thousands of people would like still be alive, we would likely be seeing cases decline and we might even see our economy snap back. Unfortunately Trump did none of the above but worked to undermine his own CDC's response to this and royally f...d it up. No, Trump hurt his own election prospects. He had the chance to shine as a leader and instead proved himself to be completely over his head.

Obviously the lockdowns didn't do any good as far as stopping the spread, and doing more shutdowns will just devastate the economy even more.

Obviously there are going to be many more cases in the most populous state than MS, AL, GA, and FL. Percentages have to be used instead of raw totals to compare states.
