Donald Trump wants couriers to replace email [W:191]

The problem with your post is that, despite the error in the thread title, Trump hasn't called to "stop using emails for official communications".

Yes he is.

Or at least for "critical information"

But storing sensitive data or communications on a computer connected to the internet mskes us vulnerable if their hackers are better than our hackers

Spies used to have to pick locks and photograph documents with a camera in the dead of night.

but now they can sit in a room in moscow and do the same thing.

And apparently no one in our government knows how to stop them

Yes he is.

No, he actually didn't.

Look, instead of blindly accepting what some liberal news hack tells you...what spin they give you along with a couple of sound bites...try listening to what Trump, himself, actually said.

Here...I'll help you out by presenting his complete press conference. The relevant question and answer is around the 1:32 mark.

Nowhere did he say a thing about what HE wants to do or what he wants the government to do about emails or official correspondence. He simply made a suggestion to any others who have found themselves to be hacked.

Diplomatic Pouch Defined

A diplomatic pouch (or “bag”) is any properly identified and sealed package, pouch, envelope, bag, or other container that is used to transport official correspondence, documents, and other articles intended for official use, between:

  • Embassies, legations, consular posts, and the foreign office of any government;
  • The headquarters or any other office of a public international organization and its regional offices in the United States or in a foreign country; or
  • The foreign office of any country with full membership in a public international organization and its mission to that organization.

"A diplomatic bag, also known as a diplomatic pouch, is a container with certain legal protections used for carrying official correspondence or other items between a diplomatic mission and its home government or other diplomatic, consular, or otherwise official entities.[SUP][1][/SUP] The physical concept of a "diplomatic bag" is flexible and therefore can take many forms (e.g., a cardboard box, briefcase, duffel bag, large suitcase, crate or even a shipping container).[SUP][1][/SUP] Additionally, a diplomatic bag usually has some form of lock and/or tamper-evident seal attached to it in order to deter interference by unauthorized third parties. The most important point is that as long as it is externally marked to show its status, the "bag" has diplomatic immunity from search or seizure,[SUP][2][/SUP] as codified in article 27 of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.[SUP][3][/SUP] It may only contain articles intended for official use.[SUP][3][/SUP] It is often escorted by a diplomatic courier, who is similarly immune from arrest and detention.[SUP][2][/SUP][SUP][3][/SUP]"

What the heck are you going on about?

You posted the following:

A Diplomatic Pouch is immunized mail sent to or from an embassy without being subject to customs inspection.

Is that what The Donnie (and you) are talking about?

I answered no, because nobody was talking about a diplomatic pouch. I only posted my statement about a DP as an example of using hand carried methods to distribute important papers, etc..

Geeze, really a new level of lame to go to so much effort for zero reason.

I think what trump said applies to members of his adminstration also

At the very least less communication by email and more facr-to-face or written words would be an improvement

I get it that you are tired of libs sniping at you and trump and didtorting everything he says.

But I have reacted to what he said not just to the lib headline

What did he say that would lead you to think that?

I think it applies to trump himself

so if the boss is avoiding email all the employees should think about doing the same

I have begun to think that Donald J. Trump lives and breathes to prove his critics wrong. He, not the interviewer, frames the conversation. He embodies the Houdini of Politics. I woke up thinking about different types of couriers..... bicycle, pigeon, drone, motor vehicles, planes. Others have told me to stop listening to what Trump says, or what his advisers tell us he meant to say. One must watch what he does or does not do! A winner never quits. A quitter never wins. If you never win and you never quit, that would make you very mediocre. You would have nothing in common with Trump. How would that make you feel? Trumped and trumpless? Oh my! Do you want to feel good again? Do you want to make America great again? Don't ask what that really means. All you have to do.... like Amway... believe in Trump.... breathe it, say it... everyday and all the time!

Thats a good idea

But anti trumpsters cant wait that long

Or admit that in the era of trump their opinion means practically nothing

A magician's entertainment value rests in delivering impressive results with masterful deception. Hope, like Love, reigns supreme somewhere in that space between a meaningless opinion and an opinion that means practically nothing. For the time being, Team Trump has replaced Ringling Bros-Barnum & Bailey as the Greatest Show on Earth!

I think it applies to trump himself

Again...what did he say that would lead you to think either he or his employees would do such a thing.

Look, I'm trying to pin you down on exactly what words he spoke makes you think what you think. That means...provide a quote of him. All this "I think" stuff is useless without knowing WHY "you think".

But hey...if you don't want to be pinned down...if you don't want to say "why"...just say so. I'll drop it.

Actually, you SHOULD listen to what Trump says...and, of course, watch what he does...instead of listen to him and apply some kind of biased spin. That's pretty much what the OP's article did and that's why they got the whole thing wrong.

Trump really does speak rather plainly.

Except for you. Who brought it up first, as if immunized international Vienna Convention-ruled packages between embassies / foreign diplomats, (which can contain physical objects, as my links showed) were relevant -- and now you say it's not what you or the Don were talking about. OOOhhhkay.

Or trunkloads of goods. Otherwise, we are just talking handwritten letters delivered via courier for "the important" stuff," because "no computer is safe."
According to the "I know a lot about hacking" Orange gramps.

Is he talking about classified information? If he is, I have four letters for him.

Any official written word penned or received by him or those in his administration are public records and they need to be duplicated / archived according to the Presidential Records Act.

Something to keep in mind.

The topic here is protecting government communications from foreign intelligence services

Old fashioned paper and ink makes it harder for spies to steal secrets

Oh, is that the topic? Donnie was talking about classified information? He surely didn't make that clear when he said his vague "the important" stuff."

Classified information goes through /is conducted via SCIF.

Are you familiar with that?

Naturally the "important stuff" to liberals like obama and hillary is only information that might hurt them politically

But I think trump cares about whats best for America too

Ah, so you don't know and are just interested in partisan pot-shots.

Have a nice day.

He gave up a cushy billion dollar life to mudwrestle with liberals who smell bad

Trump gets very little out of this deal exceot the satisfaction of serving his country

Actually it gives him a great deal of power and that can be worth more to some people than cash, which he didn't exactly give up.
